Institute of National Importance Super Speciality Entrance Test (INI SS) for July session is scheduled on April 25, 2026. The exam will be conducted in two stages - Entrance Exam and Departmental Assessment.
INI SS 2026 January session counselling rounds 1 and 2 were held from 20 December 2025 to February 21, 2026. The open round counselling for INI SSET 2026 was held from February 5 to February 23, 2026.

What is INI SS?
INI SS stands for Institute of National Importance Super Speciality Entrance Test (INI SS). AIIMS conducts the exam for providing admission to Post Doctoral courses, DM/MCh/MD-Hospital Administration at 11 institutes including 8 AIIMS. The exam is conducted bianually, January and July session. The test paper comprises 80 multiple-choice questions and candidates get 90 minutes to answer them. AIIMS conducts two-stage admission process for admission to DM/MCh/MD-Hospital Administration. Candidates get admission on the basis of marks scored in both the stages. Stage-2, departmental clinical / practical / lab-based assessment is valid for admission to AIIMS only.

Institutes Accepting INI SS score
The entrance exam is conducted for admission to the following institutes:
INI SS 2026 counselling
INI SS 2026 Counselling for the January session is over. The counselling was held in two rounds, followed by open round counselling. Counselling is held by AIIMS in online mode. Candidates included in the merit list were eligible to participate in the INI SS Counselling.
Candidates had to register online and exercise choice for colleges and specialities to participate in the counselling round. Registration was done by logging in to MyPage with the credentials used to fill application form. After the allocation of seats, candidates will have to choose from the following options to provide their willingness for participation in the further rounds of INI SS 2026 counselling.
Option 1. ACCEPT allotted Institute and DO NOT WISH TO PARTICIPATE in further rounds for INI SS 2026.
Option 2. ACCEPT allotted Institute but want to participate in the next round of counselling.
If candidate chooses option 2, then they will have to participate in this round and accept the seat allotted to them in a particular institute. The Institute allocated in the first round shall be considered vacated, and the same shall be automatically allocated to other candidates in order of merit. Failure to join the upgraded Institute shall lead to imposition of a penalty of INR 3.00 Lakh. There is no option to reject the seat in the counselling round.
INI SS 2026 Registration/Application Form Process
Candidates have to register online for INI SS 2026 entrance test. Those who complete registration can fill INI SS application form for AIIMS DM/MCh/MD-Hospital Administration courses. It must be noted that only the online application form is accepted for INI SS exam. The application process involves steps such as registration at aiimsexams.ac.in, uploading documents, and paying the exam fee. It must be noted that candidates have to submit the INI SS application form on the official website only.
Candidates have to fill all details and pay the application fee, INR 4,000 + transaction charges to submit the application form for the exam. Candidates can choose three options as exam centres out of the list of cities released by AIIMS. Options of exam centres can be chosen while filling the application form for AIIMS DM/MCh/MD(HA) courses.

INI SS 2026 Eligibility
Minimum Qualification: To apply for INI SS 2026, a candidate needs to fulfil the eligibility requirements. The first and foremost requirement is the minimum qualification required to apply for a particular course. In the table given below are listed the minimum eligibility requirements to be eligible for a particular DM/MCh/MD(HA) course.
Candidates will have to complete the postgraduate medical qualification on or before July 31, 2026. Those who complete the basic qualification after the said date will not be eligible for the January session of INI SS 2026.

Age Limit: The candidates who are applying for the AIIMS DM/MCh/MD(HA) courses must not be older than 35 years from the date as mentioned in the brochure. There is a relaxation of 3 years for OBC candidates and 5 years for SC/ST/PwD candidates.
INI SS 2026 Exam Pattern
INI SS exam is conducted in two stages:
Stage I: Written Exam
First stage of the entrance test is a written examination. This stage can be considered as a screening examination where 80 multiple choice questions are asked of 80 marks. Candidates get 90 minutes to attempt the test paper. As per the marking scheme, candidates get 1 mark for every right answer and deduction of -1/3 mark for wrong answer.
Stage II: Departmental Assessment
Candidates who qualify in the first stage of the AIIMS INI SS exam are called for a Departmental Assessment. To qualify in the first stage, candidates need to secure at least 50% marks in the examination. Admission to DM/MCh/MD(HA) courses of AIIMS is on the basis of the total marks obtained in stages one and two.
INI SS 2026 Admit Card
INI SS 2026 admit card for January session will be released online. AIIMS will activate link on its official website, aiimsexams.ac.in in for candidates who registered successfully for exam. Candidates have to download admit card for DM/MCh/MD(HA) courses by logging into their account, using the credentials generated at time of registration. Admit card contains important details including name and address of allotted exam centre. Details given on the hall ticket must be cross checked to avoid any discrepancy. If candidates find any discrepancy, exam officials must be contacted immediately.

INI SS 2026 Result
AIIMS Delhi will release INI SS 2026 result on its official website. The list of provisionally qualified candidates for INI SS 2026 result (stage-1) will be uploaded on the official website in PDF format. Two merit lists, a common merit list for all INIs and one for AIIIMs will be released after stage-2 exam. Candidates who qualify for the examination are called for a Departmental Assessment. Candidates have to score 50 percent in stage -1 to become eligible to participate in the second stage, the Departmental Assessment. Departmental assessment will be valid for seat allotment at AIIMS/PGIMER only. To qualify for AIIMS/PGIMER Seat allocation a candidate must obtain 50 percent or more marks in Stage-I & Stage-II combined. In case candidate gets marks more than 50 percent in stage-I but less than 50 percent marks in Stage I & II combined, he/she will not be treated as qualified for AIIMS Seats.

Candidates who seek admission to AIIMS have to appear for stage-2 INI SS. They have to qualify INI SS stage-1 srtitten exam to appear for departmental assessment exam. To qualify for AIIMS Seat allocation a candidate must obtain 50 percent or more marks in Stage-I & Stage-II combined.
