Is KEAM an online CBT exam or an offline pen and paper-based exam?

KEAM was an offline exam until 2023. Candidates had to attempt the exam in pen and paper mode. All entries in OMR answer sheet are to be made with blue or black ink BALL POINT PEN only. However, from 2024 onwards, KEAM transitioned to CBT mode.

Do we get a hardcopy of the KEAM question paper after the exam?

No. Since KEAM has transitioned to a computer-based test from 2024, hard copies of the question papers are not provided to the candidates. However, the KEAM question paper PDFs are uploaded on the official website of KEAM after the exam is over.

What is the paper 2 of KEAM?

There is no paper 1 or paper 2 in KEAM anymore. As per the revised KEAM exam pattern, KEAM will not have two papers anymore. There will be one paper. The KEAM 2026 engineering candidates have to attempt a total of 150 questions. Mathematics will have 75 questions, Physics will have 45 questions, and Chemistry will have 30 questions to be answered in 180 minutes. For KEAM 2026 BPharm ONLY candidates, the Entrance Examination will have a total of 75 questions; 45 questions in Physics and 30 questions in Chemistry to be answered in 90 minutes. For each correct response, candidates will be awarded FOUR marks, and for each incorrect response, ONE mark will be deducted.

To prepare using the KEAM syllabus, look for topics you are strong at and topics you are weak at and divide time among these topics. Prepare for the exam accordingly and by prioritising the high weightage topics.

Is the KEAM exam difficult?

The KEAM exam is generally considered to be of moderate difficulty, making it easier than JEE Main. Chemistry is easy, Physics and Mathematics are moderate to tough.

How to calculate scores using the KEAM answer key?

To calculate score in KEAM, you have to count the number of correct answers and multiply them by 4. From the result, deduct the number of wrong answers.

What is the KEAM marking scheme?

The KEAM exam marking scheme is similar to the JEE Main. Candidates will be awarded 4 marks for every correct answer. 1 mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer. No marks will be deducted for not attempting a question.

How much marks is needed to pass the KEAM engineering exam?

To be considered for the KEAM 2026 engineering rank list, candidates need to score at least a minimum normalised score of 10 in the KEAM 2026 Engineering Entrance Examination.

Changes in KEAM Question Paper Pattern

Starting in 2024, KEAM transitioned from a pen-and-paper exam to a Computer-Based Test (CBT) with a revamped question paper pattern for engineering and pharmacy.
No more Paper 1 and Paper 2 division. One single question paper contains 3 sections - Maths, Physics and Chemistry.
Engineering aspirants attempt Maths, Physics and Chemistry, and Pharmacy candidates attempt only Physics and Chemistry.
