NBE is the exam conducting body for different medical exam at postgraduate and postdoctoral level. This page provides candidates information about different exams. Candidates can refer this page to get updates on different exams being conducted by National Board of Examinations (NBE). NEET PG 2024 exam will be held on June 23, 2024. NEET SS 2024 exam will be held tentatively in January 2025. FMGE 2024 June session exam will be held on July 6, 2024. NEET MDS 2024 exam was held on March 18, 2024 and the result was announced on April 3, 2024. 

Q:   When will NBE release the NEET PG 2024 application form?

A:

NBE released NEET PG 2024 application form along with the official information brochure on April 16. Online registration is mandatory to submit application form for the exam. It must be noted only online application will be accepted and offline and any other mode of application will be rejected. Candidates should have a valid Email ID and mobile number for registration. NEET PG 2024 exam has been preponed to June 23, 2024.

 

Q:   Has NBE preponed NEET PG 2024 exam?

A:

Yes. NBE has preponed NEET PG 2024 exam to June 23, 2024. Earlier the exam was scheduled to be held on July 7, 2024. It must be noted NBE has not changed the internship cut off date, i.e August 15. According to revised schedule, NEET PG 2024 result will be declared by July 15, 2024. Candidates had to register on the official website till May 6 to submit application form for NEET PG 2024 exam.

 

Q:   What is the date for NEET SS 2024 exam?

A:

The NEET SS 2024 exam date has not been announced by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) yet. As per a latest update, the exam may be conducted in January 2025. Generally, NEET SS is conducted over a window of two days and two shifts. The NEET SS 2024 exam date announcement, or the official notification will be released tentatively in the fourth week of November 2024, along with the application forms.  

 

Q:   What is the eligibility criteria for the NEET SS?

A:

For appearing in NEET SS aspirants require should hold a postgraduate degree (MD/MS/DNB) or any equivalent examination. Only those who will complete their postgraduate degree on or before September 30, 2024, will be eligible for NEET SS 2024. He/ she must be registered with the Medical Council of India or State Medical Council. Candidates need to score the minimum cut off percentile to qualify for the exam. The minimum qualifying cut off is 50 percentile. NEET SS 2024 result will be released online for candidates who appeared for the exam. NBE will upload NEET SS result 2024 for 13 super specialities or groups.

 

What is NBE?

NBE or National Board of Examinations was set up in the year 1975 by the Government of India. NBE was established with the purpose of bringing uniformity in the evaluation of candidates for postgraduate courses in India. The National Board of Examinations (NBE) conducts postgraduate and postdoctoral entrance examinations for admission into 54 disciplines in the field of medicine. Q:   What is FMGE 2024 date for June session?

A:

FMGE 2024 exam date was announced by the National Board of Examinations (NBE). The exam will tentatively be conducted on July 6, 2024.

FMGE 2024 application forms will be released online. National Board of Examinations (NBE) will release an official information brochure comprising dates of other important events along with the crucial details. 

 

Q:   What is the application fee for FMGE 2024?

A:

The application fee for FMGE 2024 is released along with the official information brochure.

The FMGE 2024 application fee is announced soon on official notification. FMGE registration fee is INR 5,250 + 18 per cent GST.

So total amount will be INR 6,195.  Candidates will have to pay the registration fee to submit the application form for FMGE 2024. It must be noted registration fee will be paid with online modes such as credit/debit card or internet banking etc. The registration fee is nonrefundable if your application is rejected due to any reason. Aspirants are advised to check the eligibility criteria carefully before applying online for FMGE 2024 exam for the June session.

 

Q:   Who releases NEET PG Syllabus?

A:

NEET PG syllabus comprises subject areas as per the Graduate Medical Education Regulations issued by the Medical Council of India. NBE does not prescribe the syllabus of NEET PG word by word, however, candidates may refer to the syllabus prescribed by the Medical Council of India. NEET PG syllabus mainly comprises subjects and topics which are taught in MBBS course. Overall, NEET PG syllabus can be divided into clinical, pre and para clinical subjects. NEET PG syllabus helps candidates to plan what all needs to prepare for exam.

 

Examinations conducted by NBE

Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE)

FMGE is a licensing examination conducted for the candidates who have completed their medical education from a foreign university but wish to practice in India.

National Eligibility cum Entrance Test PG (NEET PG)

The entrance test is conducted to evaluate medical graduates for admission to the postgraduate degree programmes (MS/ MD)

National Eligibility cum Entrance Test MDS (NEET MDS)

The entrance test is conducted to evaluate dental graduates for admission to the postgraduate degree programmes (MDS)

National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Super Speciality (NEET SS)

NEET SS is conducted for admission to all Super Specialty (DM/MCh) Courses

Post Diploma Common Entrance Test (PDCET)

The entrance test is conducted to evaluate medical graduates for admission to the postgraduate diploma degree programmes (DNB Broad Speciality)

DNB CET (Super Speciality)

The entrance test is conducted to evaluate medical graduates for admission to the postgraduate diploma degree programmes (DNB Super Speciality)

DNB Dental Speciality

The entrance test is conducted to evaluate dental graduates for admission to the postgraduate diploma degree programmes (DNB)

Fellowship Entrance Test (FET)

FET is conducted by NBE for admission to Post-Doctoral FNB programmes.

Foreign Dental Graduate Screening Test (FDG ST)

FMGE is a licensing examination conducted for the candidates who have completed their dental education from a foreign university but wish to practice in India.

 
 
 

 

NBE: The authority behind DNB

NBE is responsible for awarding the “Diplomate of National Board” degree. The board conducts DNB PDGET for admission to the three-year DNB (Broad Speciality) course. NBE also conducts the theory and practical examinations for the evaluation of the candidates admitted to these courses. NBE also conducts DNB CET SS for admission to DNB Super Speciality courses after completion of MS/MD/DNB (Broad Speciality).

Q:   When is DNB PDCET 2024 exam scheduled?

A:

DNB PDCET 2024 date has been revised by NBE. The exam will be held on July 21 instead of May 19. DNB PDCET 2024 exam will be conducted in computer-based mode at designated centres across country. Candidates will have to register online and submit application form for the exam from May 28 to June 17. It must be noted NBE doesn't accept offline application form for DNB PCET. The result will be declared for each broad specialty. It must be noted there is no qualifying cut off for DNB PDCET 2024 exam. Admissions to each specialty is on the basis of the merit list prepared for that particular specialty.

 

Q:   Will there be negative marking in the DNB PDCET 2024 exam?

A:

Yes. According to DNB PDCET 2024 exam pattern, there is a provision of negative marking. As per the marking scheme, candidates get 4 marks for every correct answer, while 1 mark is deducted for every wrong answer. Therefore, candidates are advised to answer only those questions where they feel confidence of right answer otherwise negative marking may put a toll on overall score. The exam is held in computer-based mode where a total of 120 multiple choice questions are asked. Candidates get 2 hours to answer the question paper.

 

NBE: Eligibility Criteria

NBE has prescribed the eligibility criteria for the examination conducted by it. The eligibility for each programme has been set in accordance with the provisions of the Indian Medical Council Act 1956, Government of India. The NBE eligibility criteria for various examinations are given below:

Eligibility for Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE)

  • Candidate must be a citizen of India/ Overseas Citizen of India.
  • He/she must possess a primary medical qualification and it should be confirmed by the Indian Embassy concerned.

Eligibility for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test PG

  • Candidate must possess a degree of MBBS awarded by a recognised university or institute in India.
  • He/she must have undergone a compulsory rotatory internship of a year.
  • He/ she must be registered with the State Medical Council.

Eligibility for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test MDS

  • Candidate must possess a degree of Bachelor in Dental Surgery awarded by a recognised university or institute in India.
  • He/she must have undergone a compulsory rotatory internship of a year.
  • He/ she must be registered with the State Dental Council.

Eligibility for Post Diploma Common Entrance Test (PDCET)

  • Candidate must possess a degree of MBBS awarded by a recognised university or institute in India.
  • He/she must have undergone a compulsory rotatory internship of a year.
  • He/ she must be registered with the State Medical Council.

Eligibility for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test SS

  • Candidate must possess a recognized postgraduate medical degree (MD/MS/DNB)
  • Candidate must also have a permanent registration certificate of their MBBS qualification

Eligibility for DNB CET (Super Speciality)

  • Candidates who possess a Post Graduate Medical Degree/ Provisional Pass Certificate (MD/ MS/ DM/ DNB/ MCh)
  • Candidate must also have a permanent registration certificate of their MBBS qualification
  • The additional medical qualification should be recognized as per provisions of the IMC Act.

Eligibility for Fellowship Entrance Test (FET)

  • Candidates who possess a Post Graduate Medical Degree/ Provisional Pass Certificate (MD/ MS/ DM/ DNB/ MCh)

Q:   How difficult is the NEET PG?

A:

NEET PG is a higher-level exam with a high level of competition. The NEET PG exam syllabus is extensive and covers all 19 subjects that a medico studies during the MBBS. The student's preparation time is also limited, and they must balance coursework and an internship. This leaves little to no time to prepare for the NEET PG. A student works an internship at a hospital before the NEET PG exam, and the shifts are unpredictable. A lack of preparation time combined with intense competition makes NEET PG a difficult nut to crack. At the same time, it is not impossible task to score well in the exam. Candidates only need proper preparation, planning, and consistent efforts. What matters is that you believe in yourself and work towards your goal.

 

Q:   What is the total duration of the NEET SS exam?

A:

The total duration of the NEET SS exam is 150 minutes or 2.5 hours. There is no sectional time limit. Hence, candidates have to manage the time accrodingly to attempt as many number of questions as possible within this duration. There are 150 questions in total. Hence, to attempt all the questions, test-takers will get one minute per question. Along with maintaining to speed to complete the NEET SS exam, candidates must also maintain accuracy to avoid losing marks since there is a negative marking scheme. 

 

Q:   Are there any other entrance examinations for admission to DM/ M.Ch. Courses?

A:
Yes, the following institutes conduct their own private entrance tests for admission to DM/MCh: AIIMS, New Delhi PGIMER, Chandigarh JIPMER, Puducherry NIMHANS, Bengaluru SCTIMST, Thiruvananthapuram.

No, NBE will not send the admit card through the post. However, you can download the admit card again by following the same process as before.

NBE released FET 2023 admit card on February 27, 2024. Candidates will have to download the admit card from the official website of NBE, nbe.edu.in.

NBE has released date for DNB PDCET 2024 admit card along with the official information brochure. The admit card link will be activated on July 16, 2024. Candidates will have to download the admit card for DND PDCET 2024 from the official website.
