NEET SS 2026: Exam Date (Out), Registration, Eligibility, Syllabus, Counselling Result

NEET SS or National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Super Speciality Courses) is conducted by the National Board of Education for admission to various DM/ MCh and DNB courses. It is a qualifying-cum-ranking examination for admission to medical super-speciality courses. According to the Indian Medical Council Act, 2016, no other entrance test is valid for admission to these courses. The duration of the NEET SS exam will be 150 minutes or 2.5 hours. The first shift will be conducted from 9 AM to 11.30 AM, and the second shift will be conducted from 2 PM to 4.30 PM.

The NEET SS Counselling Round 2 registrations are over. However, the round 2 choice-filling facility is active. NEET SS Seat Matrix 2025

The NEET SS seat matrix 2025 for round 2 is available now on the official website- mcc.nic.in. Candidates can check the seat matrix and bond amount of the particular participating institute using the process shared below-

Candidates have to report to the allotted institutes and pay the admission fee to complete the process. They can opt for a seat upgrade in case they are not satisfied with the initial offer. There will be around three rounds of NEET SS counselling. The number of rounds may increase if there are vacant seats after the last round.

NEET SS 2026 Application Process

The application process for NEET SS 2026 will begin soon. The duration to submit the NEET SS application form, along with the fee, will be 20 days. Candidates need to first register by entering details such as name, date of birth, Email, and mobile number. Candidates can apply online for the exam using the process shared below-

1. Log in with the registration details.
2. Fill up the form.
3. Pay a non-refundable fee of INR 3,500 through credit card, debit card, or internet banking.
4. Save and take a printout of the NEET SS 2026 application form page.

NEET SS Application Form Correction 2026

The NBE will provide the application correction facilities twice. The registered students can take the NEET SS application correction to edit the information entered in the first round of form correction. The final NEET SS form correction 2026 facility will be available to rectify or correct the photograph, signature and thumb impression. The NEET SS form correction process is shared below-

The National Board of Examinations (NBE) prescribes the eligibility criteria for NEET SS. Candidates who wish to apply for the entrance test are advised to go through the NEET SS eligibility criteria before filling the application. Have a look at the NEET SS eligibility below-

NEET SS 2026 For Foreign Nationals

Foreign nationals who wish to pursue a super-speciality course in India need to appear for the NEET SS 2026 examination and clear it. Such candidates do not need to be registered with the MCI/ SMC, provided he/ she is duly registered with the appropriate authority in his/ her own country.

On securing a seat through NEET SS, the MCI may grant temporary registration to these candidates for the duration of the postdoctoral course. This registration will be temporary and will be limited to the medical college/ institution to which he/she is admitted. 

The authorities have further notified that the prior eligibility criteria for admission to DM/MCh/DrNB courses shall be as per the Post Graduate Medical Education Regulations, 2023. NBE has stated, "Foreign Nationals, including Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) cardholders, can appear in NEET-SS 2026 without registration with the National Medical Commission (NMC). The NMC may, on payment of the prescribed fee for registration, grant temporary registration for the duration of the Post Doctoral course limited to the medical college/institution to which he/she is admitted for the time being exclusively for pursuing postdoctoral studies."

NEET SS 2026 Admission Process

The admission process starts with the registration & filling application form, followed by the release of the admit card, exam day, declaration of results, and the counselling process. All the details of the NEET SS admission process have been explained in the graphic below:  

NBE releases the NEET SS 2026 exam pattern along with the information bulletin. NEET SS is the postgraduate super-speciality medical entrance exam conducted in a computer-based mode for 2.5 hours or 150 minutes. There are 15 groups or super-speciality subjects that are tested, and candidates have to choose their question paper groups during the application process. The papers are scheduled in such a way that there is no clash of exam dates or slots. There will be a total of three sections in the paper, carrying 50 questions. The sectional time limit for each section is 50 minutes. NBE had introduced the sectional time limits last year, and this pattern is being followed this year as well.

Explaining the time-bound sections, NBEMS stated, "Candidates will be restricted from proceeding to the next section until they complete the allotted time for the previous section. Additionally, candidates will not be allowed to review the questions or modify their responses for a section after the completion of its allotted time. The questions for the next section will start automatically after the completion of the allotted time for the previous section."

Each question carries four marks and for each wrong answer, there will be a negative marking of one mark for each wrong answer. The full marks of the NEET SS exam is 600. 

NEET SS exam paper comprises questions from the general/basic components of the primary feeder broad speciality subject and from all sub-specialities/systems/components of that primary feeder broad speciality subject.
