NEET SS Eligibility Criteria 2026: General

- Candidates must possess a postgraduate degree (MD/MS/DNB) from a recognised medical institute.
- They should complete his/her postgraduate medical degree.
- They must also be registered with the National Medical Council (NMC) or any other State Medical Council (SMC).
NEET SS 2026 Eligibility Criteria for Foreign Nationals
Foreign Nationals who wish to apply for NEET SS 2026 do not require a registration certificate from NMC. However, they must be registered with the concerned authority in the country from which they have obtained their postgraduate medical qualification. Such candidates will be granted a temporary registration, upon payment of the requisite fee, if they get admission through NEET SS 2026. The validity for this registration will be only up to the duration of the course that he/she has been allotted. They must have also cleared the FMGE exam.
Commonly asked questions
The NEET SS exam is conducted for a window of two days, with two slots each day. Hence, the total number of slots in which the NEET SS exam is conducted is four. Each of the slots conducts different exam groups. The duration of the exam is 2.5 hours or 150 minutes. The table below brings the slot-wise timings of the NEET SS exam.

There are a total of 15 groups which are covered in the NEET SS exam. These groups are divided into the four slots conducted over two days.
According to the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS), the exam conducting authority, the NEET SS merit is generated on the basis of marks obtained by the candidate and application of the prescribed tie-breaking criteria. Equating/scaling and normalisation process is not applied, even though the exam is conducted in multiple days and slots, and for multiple subjects or course groups.
The NEET SS cutoff rank 2025 will be released by the MCC after the counselling process is over. The cut off rank is prepared group-wise for different super specialities.
