SSC JE Eligibility Criteria 2024

SSC JE Eligibility Criteria 2024: The Staff Selection Commission will release the notification & application for the SSC JE 2024 exam on soon. The notification will be released in the form of a PDF that will contain the details about the exam like application form details, syllabus, and SSC JE eligibility criteria. According to the SSC tentative calendar, the SSC JE exam is scheduled to be conducted between June 4, 5, and 6, 2024. The candidates are advised to check the SSC JE eligibility criteria 2024  before filling out the application form. 

The Junior Engineer (JE) exam conducted by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is a much-coveted and highly competitive exam among engineering graduates who aspire to secure government job opportunities. Annually, the Staff Selection Commission conducts the SSC JE exam to recruit Junior Engineers for Group-B (non-gazetted) posts in level-6 (INR 35,400-1,12,400) of the pay matrix of the seventh Central Pay Commission in different departments of the Government of India.

Q:   How many attempts are allowed at SSC JE exam?
A:

There is no limit on the number of attempts for the SSC JE exam. Candidates can apply for the SSC JE till they attain the maximum age limit mentioned in the official notification for their category. The Commission also provides the age relaxation to certain categories. Candidates should check the official notification to know about all such relaxations. You can appear for the exam as many times you want if you meet the SSC JE eligibility criteria.

Q:   Is it mandatory to appear for both the papers of SSC JE exam?
A:

Yes, it is mandatory to appear for both paper 1 and 2 of SSC JE exam. Both the papers are compulsary for the SSC JE exam as the Paper 1 is conducted to shortlist the candidates for mains exam and is qualifying in nature. On the other hand, the paper 2 (mains) exam is conducted to shortlist candidates for the  Document verification.

The final cut off released on the basis of the marks obtained in the paper 2 exam and the document verfication. The candidates securing the marks equal to or more than the cut off marks is considered qualified for the SSC JE exam and gets recruited as per the preferences made by the candidates.

Q:   What is the certificate regarding the physical limitation in SSC JE exam?
A:

The candidates who applies in the category of scribe have to present physical limitation certificate infront of the examniation authority approved by the Chief Medical Officer, Civil Surgeon, Medical Supritendent of Government health care instituition. The candidates have to prepsent the certificate in a specific manner. The photograph of the certificate has been given beow as a reference for the candidates:

SSC JE Eligibility Criteria 2024: Age Relaxation Policy 

The age relaxation in the SSC JE exam is provided to the candidates according to Indian Government norms. The SSC JE age relaxation policies for different categories are given below:

  • OBC (Other Backward Caste): Up to 3 years 
  • Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe: Up to 5 years
  • PwD: 10 years 
  • PwD + OBC: Up to 13 years
  • PwD + SC or ST: 15 years
  • Ex-Servicemen (Unreserved or General): 3 years after subtracting the military service duration from the original age
  • Candidates originally born and permanently residing in Jammu & Kashmir between 01-Jan-1980 to 31-Dec-1989: 5 years
  • Defence Personnel disabled during any operation against a foreign nation or in a disturbed area and subsequently released due to this:
    • General or OBC: 3 years
    • SC / ST: 8 years

SSC JE Nationality 2024 

The SSC restricts the policy of recruiting candidates from foreign countries for the posts of SSC JE (Junior Engineer) in India. The SSC JE nationality eligibility details are given below:

  • An individual who holds Indian citizenship.
  • A resident of Bhutan
  • A resident of Nepal
  • A Tibetan refugee who arrived in India before 1st January 1962, to establish permanent residence in India
  • A person of Indian origin who relocated from Burma, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Uganda, Kenya, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Malawi, Ethiopia, Zaire, Zambia, or Vietnam, to settle permanently in India

Note: Candidates meeting the SSC JE Nationality eligibility criteria can apply for the SSC JE 2024 exam. However, the candidates need to fulfill the other eligibility criteria to be eligible for the SSC JE exam.
