The benefits of agricultural biotechnology and genetic engineering are mentioned below.
Pest and Disease Resistance
The modified crops naturally resist insects, which result in less need for chemical pesticides.
Higher Crop Yields
GE modified crops can grow fast and produce more food on small land. This can help in meeting the global demand of food.
Reduce Chemical Usage
GE crops require fewer pesticides and herbicides to fight pests and diseases. This helps in environmentally friendly farming.
Fast Growth and Ripening
These types of crops grow fast resulting in multiple harvests annually and improved the productivity.
Drought and Climate Resilience
Crops engineered for drought-tolerance and salt-resistant can grow in harsh climates.
