BHU PhD Eligibility & Highlights 2025
BHU PhD course duration varies based on the selected course specialisation. It usually range from two to six years. All admissions to PhD programmes at Banaras Hindu University shall be through a national-level Research Eligibility Test (RET). So as to identify the scholastic capabilities and aptitude for research, there are three levels of this test as mentioned below:
- Test A: To assess Logical and Analytical Capability
- Test B: To assess Subject Knowledge Test
- Test C: Research proposal and Personal Interview to test aptitude for research
Tests A and B take place on a single day at multiple centres across the country while Test C will take place at BHU in the concerned Department/School/Centre. Candidates who are exempted from appearing for Tests A and B (RET-exempt category), but would be required to qualify the Test C to become eligible for registration for PhD.

In addition to being eligible for PhD, candidates seeking admission to BHU for PHD also need to be eligible for RET conducted by the university.
BHU PhD Fees 2025
Candidates can confirm their admission in the BHU courses by paying the required fee amount. The fee structure may include various components. BHU PhD tuition fee ranges from INR 4,500 to INR 88,400. This fee amount is as per the official website/ sanctioning body. It is still subject to changes and hence, is indicative.

BHU placements are good. During the placement drive 2025, 177 placement drives were held and more than 950 students were placed. The highest salary package offered was INR 19.8 LPA.
BHU 2026 BSc Nursing admission is based on CUET UG scores. The BHU merit list for CUET UG will be released on the official website of BHU. According to the BHU, there will be three rounds of counselling along with an optional fourth round, if the seats remain vacant. Talking about the BHU maximum cutoff score of the previous year, B.Sc. (Hons) in Medical Radiology and Imaging Technology became the most competitive course with a cutoff score of 628.46 for the students belonging to the General quota.
Any caste, region, religion students can apply for admission to various courses at BHU. Any caste student must fulfill the eligibility criteria and take admission. While selection process, students are not judged basis their religion, they are judged based on their merit. Hence, any student meeting the eligibility criteria can get admission in BHU. BHU BSc (H) admission is strictly entrance-based. Earlier, admission was through BHU-UET, however, now the students need to take the CUET-UG exam. Yes, the BHU CUET counselling process for both UG and PG courses is carried out in online mode. Candidates have to visit the BHU admission portal to register for the counselling process. The form filling, document upload, and fee payment also has to be done in online mode. Fee payment can be done through credit card/debit card/net banking.
BHU accepts CUET scores for admission to UG and PG courses. The admissions are over within few weeks of CUET counselling. CUET-PG is usually jeld in March whereas, CUET-UG takes place in May. Students must check the complete schedule for exact dates. CUET applications for the coming year will begin in February and continue till April.

Banaras Hindu University MSc Psychology admissions require students to complete BSc in a relevant field. Generally, BSc Home Science is not one of the accepted degrees. Students need to have studied BSc in Psychology or an equivalent course.

At Banaras Hindu University (BHU), the maximum age limit for admission to the B.Sc Nursing programme is 25 years as of December 31 of the admission year. For SC/ST candidates, there is a relaxation of 5 years, so the maximum age is 30 years.
