IIT Bombay MTech Eligibility & Highlights 2026
IIT Bombay MTech programme is offered for two years in 39 specialisations under 18 departments. Admission to the course is entrance-based. The technology institute accepts scores of the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). Some of the specialisations offered under the MTech course are Computer Science & Engineering, Electronic Systems, Biomedical Engineering, etc. The institute offers dual degree courses as well, such as BTech + MTech and MTech + PhD.
IIT Bombay MTech admission is granted based on scores in the GATE exam, followed by COAP counselling. Moreover, there is no upper age limit and no restrictions on the number of attempts for the GATE exam. Aspirants of the PG course must fulfil the following entry requirements:

Yes, IIT Bombay offers Merit-cum-Means Scholarship to UG students. It is awarded to a maximum of 25% of sanctioned intake. For Dual degree, it is available only up to fourth year.
Merit Criterion: For new entrants of BDes their UCEED Rank, will be the criterion. In subsequent years, the criterion will be their academic performance during the preceding academic year.

Admission in IIT Bombay is considered competitive. To get admission in UG engineering courses, students must first give JEE Main exam. IIT Bombay accepts GATE score for admission to MTech course. Candidates must have a BE/ BTech/ BSc/ Bachelor of Architecture and Bachelor of Planning/ MSc/ MCA/ MBBS/ MPharm/ BPharma/ BDS/ degree recognised equivalent to BE/ BTech with a minimum of 60% aggregate (55% aggregate for SC/ ST/ PwD category). For MTech General-All India, cut offs for GATE 2024 closed off at score 600 for MTech in Chemical Engineering and 750 for Computer Science and Engineering. Similarly, for MTech in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research, the GATE score closed off on 650.

IIT Bombay JAM cutoff 2026 for the OBC category ranged from 65 in the first round to 1217 in the last round. As per this range,  MSc in Applied Geology came out as the most preferred course for admission. Students who want admission to this course need to attain a rank of at least 65 to be qualified

SC AI students have to score at least 217 if they want admission at IIT Bombay. The higher the score, the better chances of admission. Those who want admission to more popular courses will have to score higher, ie, for M.Tech CSE course, a score of at least 400 is needed.
