ILICAT 2023: The Indian Law Institute has published the exam notification for ILI Common Admission Test 2023 on March 14. The online application form of ILICAT 2023 is now available in online mode at ilidelhiadmissions.in till April 21, 2023. ILICAT 2023 will be conducted on May 7, 2023 for admission to Master of Laws and PhD course. The candidates who have obtained or are in the final year of law degree (3-years or 5-years LLB course) can apply and appear for ILICAT 2023. The candidaes who qualify the entrance exam, and Viva-voce + Presentation are shortlisted for final admission process. What is ILICAT?

The Indian Law Institute Common Admission Test (ILICAT) is a law entrance exam conducted by The Indian Law Institute (ILI) for admissions to one-year LLM course. The exam is held in pen-paper based test mode and the question paper carries objective as well as subjective type questions. Candidates qualifying the examination have to appear for viva-voce and the final selection will be based on scores in both entrance exam and viva-voce.

ILICAT Eligibility Criteria 2023

The candidates seeking admissions to one-year LLM course at ILI need to fulfil the eligibility criteria as under:

  • They should have obtained an LLB Degree with minimum 50% marks from any University/Institution that is recognised by the Bar Council of India or Law course from a foreign country with minimum 50% aggregate marks or equivalent grade as per the Association of Indian University (AIU) Guidelines.
  • The candidates belonging to SC/ ST/ Physically Handicapped category need to secure at least 45% marks as per the relaxation is given for these reserved categories.
  • Those belonging to the Kashmiri Migrant category should have secured at least 40% marks in the qualifying degree examination. 

ILICAT Exam Pattern and Syllabus 2023

The question paper of ILICAT 2023 for LLM will be divided into 3 parts - Part 1 and 2 will carry objective-type questions, and Part 3 will carry subjective-type questions. Morever, the sectional-weightage for ILICAT 2023 will be as under:

Q. What is the mode of ILICAT examination?

A. The exam is generally held in an offline mode i.e. a pen-paper based test mode. 

Q. What are the type of questions asked in ILICAT exam?

A. The question paper of ILICAT carries both objective and subjective type of questions.

Q. What are the subjects of ILICAT exam?

A. The main subjects on which ILICAT question paper is based on are -  English Langauge, General Knowledge, and Legal Aptitude. Apart from this, the question paper for Legal Aptitude will be based on the core law topics including, Jurisprudence, Constitutional Law, IPC, Public International Law, Commercial Law (Contract and Specific Relief Act, Partnership and Sale of Goods Act), Law of Torts, Law of Limitation and Environmental Law. 

Q. Where can I apply for ILICAT ?

A. The application form of ILICAT is provided on the official website - ili.ac.in, under the admissions tab. Candidates cannot send offline applications to the exam authority.

Q. What is the marking scheme of ILICAT?

A. Since, the question paper of ILICAT comprises objective-type and subjective-type of questions, the marking scheme is as under: Objective type questions - 1 mark for each question, and 0.25 marks deducted in case of wrong attempts.  Subjective-type questions - 10 marks for each question, and no negative marking.
