AIBE Cutoff 2022- The Bar Council of India (BCI) will publish the cut off marks for AIBE XVII exam after the declaration of results. AIBE cutoff marks for the General/OBC category is 40 marks out of 100, while SC/ST candidates need 35 marks out of 100 to qualify the bar examination. However, it can be reduced if questions get deleted from AIBE question paper after answer key verification is complete. The AIBE cut-off marks is the minimum marks (or percentage) that candidates need to obtain in their category to clear the certification exam. Only candidates who secure the cut off marks will be issued the Certificate of Practice as a proof of qualifying the bar examination. Candidates can know more about AIBE cutoff 2022 including schedule, minimum qualifying criteria, factors affecting cutoff marks, previous year cutoff marks, and other details.

BCI will be annoucing exam schedule for AIBE XVII anytime soon. The exam will be held in a pen-paper based test mode, tentatively in July. From 2021 onwards, AIBE is no longer an open book exam, and candidates are allowed only Bare Acts without prep notes.

Factors affecting AIBE Cut Off

As per the past years' analysis, listed below are the reasons/factors affecting the AIBE cut off marks:

  • Minimum passing criteria for AIBE
  • Number of candidates reporting the discrepancies in the answer keys
  • Total discrepancies verified and rectified by BCI
  • Questions removed from result evaluation

Let us understand how each factor changes AIBE cut off marks:

Factors affecting AIBE cut off

Details

Minimum passing criteria

The category-wise cutoff marks are:

  • General/ OBC category – 40% marks out of total marks
  • SC/ ST category – 35% marks out of total marks

Discrepancies in the AIBE answer keys

If any errors/ discrepancies are observed in the answer keys released by the BCI, the candidate may file objections.

  • The BCI will take into account such discrepancies/errors
  • If any question is dropped, then the AIBE cutoff would get affected.

For example, in AIBE 16 XVI, FIVE questions were dropped and the paper was evaluated out 95 marks. Consequently, the cutoff marks also got affected.

In AIBE 13, two questions were dropped and the paper was evaluated out 98 marks.

Total discrepancies rectified by BCI

BCI verifies the objections raised by candidates and if the objections are found valid it takes action accordingly

Total questions removed from final result evaluation

The cutoff marks are affected when the exam authority deletes errored questions from the final result evaluation.

For example, the AIBE 2021 FINAL answer key was released on Feb 23, and

  1. FIVE questions were dropped /deleted
  2. The marking is done out of 95 marks (instead of 100 marks)

Therefore, the cutoff marks were decided out of 95 marks as well.

AIBE Cut off 2021

The cutoff marks for AIBE XVI after 5 questions were deleted from final result preparation, were as under:

36 marks

40% of total marks i.e. 91 marks

Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST)

Therefore as per the cut-off marks, the General and OBC category candidates obtaining minimum of 36 marks and more will be considered 'PASS'.
