King George's Medical University (KGMU) offers a PG-level MD course for three years. This course is offered across 20 specialisations. Admission to this course at KGMU is entirely based on the NEET PG entrance exam, which is conducted by the National Board of Examinations (NBE). The final seat allotment is done based on UP NEET PG (Counselling).

KGMU Lucknow offers direct admission to only BSc aspirants. For BSc course, the selection is based on the last qualifying exam of Class 12. For other Medical and Dental courses such as MBBS, BDS, MD, DM, etc., candidates are selected based on national-level entrance exams. Admission to these courses is completely based on a valid scores of NEET UG, NEET PG, NEET SS, etc., entrance exams. KGMU accepts admission to most of the Medical courses through a valid score in NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test). The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) is the sole entrance test for admission to the BDS and MBBS programmes in India. According to the KGMU (King George's Medical University) cutoff for Round 2 in 2023, the closing ranks for all BDS and MBBS specialisations ranged from 1647 to 26203. Students who have just started preparing for the next year NEET must prepare according to the NEET paper analysis and must know about the NEET exam pattern.
The NEET SS application fee is INR 3,500. The fee is same for candidates belonging to each category. This is the application fee for each group. Hence, candidates planning to apply for two groups will have to pay INR 7,000 (3,500 + 3,500). The fee has to be paid in online mode, via credit/debit card or net banking. NBE states, "Applications forms once submitted cannot be withdrawn. Fee shall neither be carried forward to a future date nor refunded under any circumstances. Application once submitted cannot be withdrawn. Any claim for refund, adjustment or carrying forward of Application fee will not be entertained. Examination fees in respect of candidates who are absent or have been declared ineligible due to any reason will be forfeited." As compared to last year, the fee has been reduced. Last year, the fee amount was INR 4,250 for each group.
To get admission into KGMU throught UP NEET exam, student must target the rank as per the cutoff list. As per the cutoff, the closing rank for General Home State category stood at 3484. Among the OBC HS category the last round closing rank was 3665. For SC Home State, ST Home State and PWD Home State category candidates also, the cutoff ranks were lenient than 3000. Therefore, it is possible to get admission into KGMU through UP NEET rank of 3000.

For admission to a three-year MD course at KGMU, there is basic eligibility criteria as per NBE norms. Admissions to this course is based on NEET PG scores. To appear for this entrance exam and admission to MD is offered to those who hold MD degree from a university recognised by Medical Council of India with minimum 55% aggregate in the case of General & OBC categories. There is a relaxation of five percent for SC/ ST category candidates. The reserved category candidates are required to obtain 50% aggregate in the last qualifying exam of MD.
In order to get admission to DM at KGMU, the minimum eligibility criteria is to get a PG degree of MD/ MS or any equivalent. DM is a super specialisaed course, admission to this course is entirely entrance-based. For admission to this course, candidates have to check the eligibility in the first place and appear for NEET SS entrance exam. This entrance exam is conducted by NBE every year. Those who qualify this entrance exam will be allocated seats as per the NEET SS Counselling. For the counselling process, candidates have to register themselves on the official website of MCC.

For admission to three-year PG course of MD at KGMU, candidates are required to fulfil the minimum eligibility criteria in the first place. Candidates who passed MBBS with 50% aggregate are eligible to apply for this course. KGMU MD admissions are done based on the NEET PG entrance exam scores, which is conducted by National Board of Examinations (NBE). Further, the final seat allotment to selected candidates is done through a state level counselling process, i.e., UP NEET PG, which is held by Directorate of Medical Education and Training (DMET). As per the selection criteria, candidates are selected based on both past academic records and scores of entrance exams.

KGMU grants admission to various UG and PG courses on the basis of various exams. For MD and MS specialisations, the cutoff is released on the basis of NEET PG. For MBBS and BDS admission, the cutoff is released on the basis of performance in the NEET and UP NEET exams. For MDS, NEET MDS is accepted and for MD/MDS, UP NEET PG is accepted. NEET SS, Meghalaya MBBS and Arunachal Pradesh NEET are also accepting exams for some courses.
KGMU offers admission to PG courses such as MD and MS, on the basis of NEET PG and UP NEET PG. To get admission in KGMU through NEET PG, the General AI category student must attain the neccessary rank. KGMU NEET PG cutoff 2024 was closed between 143 and 112030.
KGMU offers admisison to PG courses via UP NEET PG to the Home State category candidates. For admission to KGMU to the PG courses via UP NEET PG, the cutoff for the General Home State category was between 1 and 6377.

Every year, the cut off marks for the KGMU NEET exam are affected due to the following factors:
- The difficulty level of the exam. In case the question paper is easy then the NEET cut offs are expected to go high and vice-versa.
- Total number of applications received. If the total applications received are less then the cut off is expected to be relaxed.
- Total candidates qualifying NEET exam. If the total number of qualifying candidates is less than the total seats then cut off goes low
- Total number of seats. If the total number of seats is revised and increased then cut off is expected to remain low
- Previous year cut offs. For the top colleges, the cut-off marks in previous years were high, therefore, only topper candidates could make it for final admissions. Fore other colleges, the cut off marks are relatively low.

The NEET SS 2025 application form is expected to be released by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) in the first week of November 2025. Along with the NEET SS 2025 application form, NBEMS will also release the notification and information bulletin. The NEET SS application process is completely online. Candidates have to visit the official website of NBEMS and go to the NEET SS exam section. After that, they have to read the complete instructions before registration, followed by the application. NEET PG 2025 application form was released on April 17, 2025. Deadline to submit NEET PG 2025 application form was May 7, 2025. Application form reopened to choose exam city from June 13 to June 17, 2025. Exam was held on August 3, 2025 in computer-based mode.
