B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering - Batch of 2018
4.2
Fees are lower compared to other NITs.
Placements: Placement of our college is really amazing as compared to all the NITs in India. As this year is 2025, the highest placement stood at 96 LPA from the mechanical engineering department, which is really a great thing. Also, the average placement of our college is 13 LPA, which is really good.
Infrastructure: I really loved the playgrounds, as these are huge, and also the inter-branch competition, which is held every year, is very exciting. The hostel facilities are quite good. The mess food is average but adjustable. There is 24/7 internet, no issue with that. The bathroom is well furnished, and housekeeping is really good. They come every morning and clean the staff. Classrooms are spacious and digitally updated. The library is good, and it is open for 24 hours. There are many grounds for different sports.
Faculty: The faculty members are very cooperative. Professors can speak fluent English, so there are no language barriers among students and faculty. They are well educated and well disciplined. The course curriculum is one of the best in the world, as there are many things that other colleges don't implement, but our college does. The world-class course curriculum is the reason for the success of many students who have studied here.

Good college as a NIT and good placement +.
Placements: In EE at NIT Silchar, around 87% of students got placed. The highest package this year is 44 LPA, offered by Amazon. While core placements are moderate, many students secured good roles in tech and software companies. EE graduates from NIT Silchar secure roles in power systems, embedded systems, automation, software development, data analysis, IT services, consulting, electronics design, and core electrical companies like L&T and Schneider.
Infrastructure: NIT Silchar EE department has decent labs and LAN access, but classrooms lack modern facilities, and teaching quality varies. However, hostel life is vibrant and enjoyable with good mess food, clean rooms, friendly environment, and making campus life memorable.
Faculty: NIT Silchar follows a semester system with continuous assessment through quizzes, mid and end-term exams. EE curriculum includes theory, labs, and projects. Teachers are knowledgeable but teaching quality varies across subjects. Relatively grading at NIT Silchar does exist, but its impact is limited some students report that although the institute uses relatively grading, the presence of high-performing peers (toppers) often makes the system functional similar to absolute grading. Here's how CGPA matters, to be eligible for branch change (if it's allowed), you generally need around 8.0+ CGPA, for popular branches like CSE/ECE, top students often score 8.8-9.1+.
Other: I chose EE at NIT Silchar for its core value, career scope, and NIT tag. Campus life is peaceful, and hostel life is enjoyable with LAN and friendly peers. Though academics can be tough and classrooms average. Overall, experience is enriching.

NIT Silchar has a large, green campus with average placements and a good atmosphere.
Placements: The college has a 92% placement rate across all branches with MNC companies. The average package is 15 LPA. Almost every student is given a chance to attend interviews, as many companies visit. However, students with backlogs are excluded. Apart from these students, most are placed.
Infrastructure: Classrooms are very large, and the hostel rooms are much better than those in other colleges. There are a total of 9 boys' hostels and 4 girls' hostels. The boys-to-girls ratio is also very good, with 85% of boys having a girl. The hostel facilities are excellent, and the food served is far better than in most IITs.
Faculty: Professors are very helpful and make attendance easy. They assist you with your projects, give very few assignments, and focus on practical knowledge. They prioritize students' progress and mental health, which is why there is no mandatory 75% attendance requirement if you have a valid reason.
Other: It is the best branch of NIT Silchar.

Good college but has improper administration.
Placements: Placements are still ongoing, so I can't provide an exact number, but they are progressing well. The highest salary package offered is 82 LPA. The lowest salary package offered is 5 LPA. Top-tier companies like Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra, BPCL, and HPCL are actively recruiting. Only a small percentage of students approximately 10% will secure internships. Top roles include software development engineer (SDE), training design engineer, and data analyst.
Infrastructure: The internet services are a bit weak here. The college is a bit old. The infrastructure is also a bit old-fashioned. The basic facilities are provided like Wi-Fi, etc. Classrooms are not digitalized. The library timings are restricted. The food in the mess is average. You will get used to it with your taste. Medical facilities are there, but there are a bit less. You can find a good hospital nearby.
Faculty: Teachers are good, qualified, and knowledgeable. You have to approach most of them. But you have to put in the effort. The curriculum is relevant but sometimes, it feels like it's old to current industry standards. Exams are difficult but doable with 35 as pass percentage.
Other: I chose this college because of its ranking and the course because is interesting and circuital. Lucas would give you much freedom to choose but, it is a bit old. So, I think if it's improved, then it would be better now. We have to face every year. The connectivity is difficult for the campus.

NIT Silchar - National Institute of Technology review.
Placements: The average starting package is around INR 65,000. One of our seniors, a fourth-year student who interned at Microsoft and got a great offer.
Infrastructure: The hostel is located in a very good area, and the infrastructure is quite decent and amazing. However, the problem is that the cleaning activities are not done on a regular or frequent basis. The college has quite a few labs, including computer labs, chemistry labs, and a mechanical workshop.
Faculty: The faculty at NIT Silchar are well-educated and very well-behaved towards the students. They take the time to understand our thoughts and opinions. However, some faculty members are not receptive to student input and tend to shout at the students.

Good College, A bit dissappointed with connectivity, good placements in 2023, Faculties are good.
Placements: The current passing out batch is placed with a placement percentage varying from 65-75%. The highest package in my course is 55 LPA, and the average package is about 11 LPA. The top companies that visited NIT Silchar for placements are Google, Microsoft, Amazon, and Accenture. Internship data has not been released yet, and the same goes for the top roles offered.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure provided is pretty good in both classrooms and hostels. Two LAN sockets are provided in each room (one for each person sharing the room) that offer medium internet speed. Labs are equipped with sufficient tools to teach the whole class. Classrooms have all the basic facilities such as fans, lights, but there is no AC in the classrooms. The library has almost all the books students can ask for, and its infrastructure is good, except for the lack of AC. Hostel facilities are average, with some improvements needed, especially in cleanliness. The quality of food is average, as expected from mess food. Medical facilities are good.
Faculty: The teachers are very helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable. Almost all of them hold PhDs. They teach very well and are available to clear students' doubts even during non-working hours. The course curriculum is not relevant in the first year, but it becomes relevant from the second year, preparing students for the industry. The difficulty of the semester exams is above average, and the pass percentage is 90-95%.
Other: We have two fests at NIT Silchar: one is a tech fest named Technoesis, which is good, featuring multiple events such as Robowar, Bluetooth Blitz, etc. There are also sports tournaments with massive cash rewards ranging from INR 10,000 to 30,000. Connectivity is not good at all.

Life, placements, infrastructure, facilities, feels, and many more about NIT Silchar.
Placements: Placements are good in NIT Silchar. I am from the Electrical Engineering department. Around 88% of students from our department got placements last year. This year, a package of 64 LPA has been offered to a student who belongs to our department (it was offered by Google). Students get placements in both core and coding fields. Normally, coding sector placements offer more money. In the case of internships, a lot of students get internships in various core and tech companies such as Microsoft, ONGC, TATA companies, etc.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of NIT Silchar is awesome. The campus area is around 625 acres. In hostels, LAN connections are provided (no data limit). Moreover, mess food is also not bad. If it is found that the mess authority is not providing good food, then action is taken against them. Labs and classrooms are also good. The classrooms for 3rd/4th-year students are better than those for 1st-year students. Overall, in my view, it is good enough.
Faculty: Yes, professors are very knowledgeable. In fact, some of the professors have been recognized as the world's top 1% and 2% scientists, and they are very helpful and student-friendly too. Yes, the courses are curriculum-relevant and make the students industry-ready. But being Electrical Engineering students, if students from our department want to get a job in coding fields, then they have to study separately. However, there is a good coding environment in the college. The semester examinations are not so difficult, not so easy. They are moderate. The pass percentage is around 35%.
Other: I have taken Electrical Engineering, and from this branch, I can apply for both coding jobs as well as core jobs. But it is the most difficult engineering branch.

Untold Insights of NITs by Prithu.
Placements: 75% of students were placed in the year 2023-2024, which was 90% in the previous year. The highest package was 52.89 Lacs per annum, the lowest was 4 LPA, and the average was 13.34 LPA. Top recruiting companies are AWS, Amazon, Adobe, Cisco, Arcesium, Capgemini, Cognizant, Goldman Sachs, MathWorks, Accenture, Oracle, Philips, TATA Technologies, Razorpay, Tech Mahindra, TVS, NTPC, IndianOil, NRL, HPCL, Oil India Ltd, BPCL, HLS, Vedanta, etc. 40% of students got internships in companies like Microsoft, Flipkart, Amazon, Optum, Jindal Steel, etc. Top roles offered are management trainee, software engineer, junior engineer, etc.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is available in the library, labs, and LAN is available in the CC labs and hostel rooms. Labs are well-equipped, but in the machines lab, some of the equipment is old and not functioning properly. Almost every classroom has a projector, and the galleries are also equipped with speakers. Hostel rooms are good and are allotted either double or triple seater rooms. Only in the 4th year are single rooms allotted. Food quality at the mess is not up to the mark. The food at some hostels is good and edible, but some hostels provide horrible food. So many students often opt for the canteen. There are provisions for a canteen in every hostel. A dispensary is there with on-duty medical officers, and basic medicines are available in the dispensary. Sports facilities are available, and clubs for cricket, badminton, basketball, volleyball, etc. are present. Fields for these sports are also there.
Faculty: Teachers are well-qualified and knowledgeable. Almost everyone of them has completed their M.Tech and Ph.D. from IITs. But the teaching quality is not that good. They are more focused on their personal projects and research. But some teachers give full efforts in teaching. Honestly speaking, the curriculum does not make someone industry-ready, but the curriculum is to some extent GATE-oriented. The semester exams' difficulty level is moderate. The pass percentage is 90 to 95%.
Other: The best thing about the course is that it is GATE-oriented. Improvements should be done in lab courses. The campus crowd is competitive, and senior-junior interaction is good. The campus surroundings are also good with lots of greenery. One can also indulge in extracurricular activities by joining various clubs and during fests. Incandescence is the cultural fest, and Tecnoesis is the technical fest, which are the 2nd largest cultural and technical fests in the Northeast.
