Placement and college life of NIT Silchar.
Placements: The top 20 students in civil engineering are selected for placement at L&T; however, due to Covid, only about 4 to 5 have been placed. Most students from all engineering branches secure positions in their respective fields, but only a few reputable IT companies participate in the placement process and recruit candidates.
Infrastructure: NIT Silchar has the largest library in Asia, and the classrooms and labs are being modernized. The Wi-Fi speed is quite good in all academic areas, although it only works in the hostel lanes. The classrooms are in a very peaceful location where students enjoy studying and exploring.
Faculty: Civil Engineering has the top facilities in terms of knowledge and experience in theoretical and practical as well. I just enjoyed the whole classes of civil engineering. Practice like surveying and soil-related are very knowledgeable and helpful in higher studies.

The college has good infrastructure.
Placements: Around 55-65, students got placed in civil engineering. The highest package was around 15 LPA in civil engineering the lowest was around 5-6 LPA and the average was 7-8 LPA. The top recruiting companies were Flipkart and Amazon for supply chain management. Around 30-40% of students got internships either on-campus and off -campus. The top roles offered were the site engineer and the management job.
Infrastructure: The quality is not top-notch but the basic facilities like clean drinking water clean washrooms and a bathroom are available, the food qualities are not too bad it can fill your stomach for the 3 times of the day and the snacks are available the canteen foods are good. For the medical facilities. We have a dispensary where basic medicine is available and for the sports. We have football and cricket grounds for the outdoor games and for the indoor games, we have a sports complex.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable but some are a little rude. The teaching qualities varies teacher to teacher but overall it a good. Yes, the course curriculum is relevant and helpful in the student industry. The semester exams are not that tough, a student can pass by studying one night before the exam. The pass percentage is around 85%.
Other: I chose this course because I am interested in learning more and more about the buildings. How they are built. The best thing is we can put it in our day-to-day life. I would suggest that more technical instruments should be available in the college for better learning. The events, fest, and campus crowd all are so supportive and good.

The campus of NIT Silchar is very good.
Placements: In Civil Engineering, the placement percentage is above average, with approximately 75-80% of students getting placed. Companies like L&T, NCC, Tata Projects Limited, DLF Limited, HCC, etc. visit this college. Some of the students often like doing jobs in PSUs and prepare for the GATE exam.
Infrastructure: The internet speed in hostels is not good, but in classrooms, it has a full network. In labs, equipment is running fine, but the modern LANs are not provided in the hostels. In hostels, single, double, and triple seater rooms are available. It all depends on your marks in exams. In the first and second years, most probably double or triple seater rooms are available.
Faculty: Teachers are helping in nature and the quality of teaching is okay. The level of difficulty of exams is moderate, and the passing criteria are not the same for all years. To pass the exams, you have to score a minimum of 35 marks out of 100. Previous years' questions are very useful for exams.
Other: Incandescence is the second-largest cultural fest in Northeast India, after IIT Guwahati.

Life on campus is really good, with extracurricular activities, fests, and Inter NIT.
Placements: Our placement starts from the 7th semester and from July 2024. The companies have started coming. Since I am from the Civil Department, I am placed at The Light as a data analyst. There are lots of companies that come to the college. Till now, 50% of students are placed, and in CSE, 80% are placed. Most of the companies are providing 6 month internships this year and then PPO. The highest package till now is 34 LPA, I guess, and 5 LPA is the lowest. Top recruiting companies are Cisco, L&T, SLB, Myntra, Nykaa, Fanatics, etc.
Infrastructure: The facility of library in our college is Asia's largest library, and it provides services from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily, including Wi-Fi. It is very clean, very big, and has a lot of books. There are many computer labs for studying at the CSE department. The classrooms are very well structured, projectors are there, and big galleries are there for lectures. Silchar hosts events like Jason. There is a big cricket and football ground, and it has an indoor game room, which is a SAD building where you can play skating, badminton, and chess.
Faculty: The teachers are very well, and they are very open to our doubts and cooperative. They are very strict about attendance. They use practical things to make us understand, and the course curriculum is very good. The Instrumentation and Electrical departments have programming in their course, due to which, the IT companies make them eligible for that branch.
Other: I chose this course because I was always passionate about civil engineering, and I wanted to take college near my hometown, that is why I chose a college in Silchar, Assam. The demand for civil engineers is very high, that's why I took it, and lots of PSU companies are also coming to our college. Events like the Preston Technical Fest are held in March and September. There are lots of club options, like the GDSE ride, and organizing the biggest hackathon. There is 24 hour LAN connectivity available in our hostel and labs.

An honest review of NIT Silchar.
Placements: More than 80% of last year's batch secured placements through on-campus placements. With the highest package being 55 LPA and an average package of 13 LPA. The placements are among the best in the country. Amazon was the company with the highest package and many other teah as well as core companies visited the campus. Most placements are from the CSE department, but other branches also get very good packages.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is poor and outdated, as the institute is nearly 60 years old with not much renovation done. Hostels are old and dirty, but basic necessities like fans, tube lights, and Ethernet are provided for each hosteller. The quality of food is better than at most other institutes, with proper hygiene maintained. There is a health center on the campus for medical needs. Sports are highly promoted, with a well-maintained football ground, a cricket ground, basketball, tennis, and volleyball courts. There is a sports complex, including a gym, Kho-Kho, and other sports.
Faculty: The professors are highly qualified but are very poor in their teaching. They just come to class, give a lecture, and leave. This makes students attend only to meet the compulsory 75% attendance, without learning much from the classes. Course curriculum is outdated and needs to be updated according to industry standards. Students have to prepare themselves in order to get jobs/placements. Semester exams are moderately difficult, and the majority of students are able to clear them in a single attempt.
Other: I chose this course as engineering has interested me since my childhood, and this course gives a lot of exposure to the industry. It also provides opportunities to explore other fields than sciences. A better and industry-relevant curriculum, along with a good faculty would improve the course a lot. Fests are an exciting part of college life, with a cultural fest held in February and a technical fest in November. The campus is located far from Silchar town, which makes poor connectivity, as it is situated on the outskirts of the town.

Outstanding beauty of NITS.
Placements: The percentage of the placed students is very good in our college; almost every student got placement. The percentage placement is around 90 to 95% from every branch. The highest package in 2024 is 60 Lacs per annum and the average package offered is 12 Lacs per annum. Job recruiting companies are L&T.
Infrastructure: The facilities that are available in our hostel is they provide a sub chair, B.Ed, fan, water, light, electricity, and cleanliness. We have Ethernet in our hostels and the connection is very poor. The food quality in the mess is very poor. We also have a sports faculty members offered by the Gymkhana union body.
Faculty: Teachers in our college are already helpful, qualified, and highly skilled. They have a good knowledge of every subject and their way of teaching is very unique. No, the course is not relevant for us. The semester exams are easy if we study and the pass percentage is very high; almost every student got passed except for 5 to 10 students.
Other: The best thing about this course is I wanted to pursue my engineering degree from India's finest engineering college, so I got in and it is an honor to pursue my B.Tech engineering degree in civil engineering. There are two major facts in our college: the first is our technical fest and the second is our cultural fest. Our technical fest is held in the month of November and the cultural fest is held in the month of February.

NIT Silchar - beyond the fairytale campus.
Placements: The placements in civil engineering are not up to the mark in recent years. You need to have an extraordinary CGPA or good coding skills in order to land any job of any profile. Placements in core sectors are very few; about 65-70% got placed, out of which most are coding jobs and have nothing to do with civil engineering. Sadly, this is the state of core jobs all over the country.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is outdated and old. The hostels are good but you would have several problems related to LAN and cleanliness. But sports facilities are great; to be honest, you have a cricket field, a football field, an indoor sports complex, a trekking club and other sports clubs that conduct parallel sports too, like chess and all. Medical facilities are available but only on paper; for the slightest convenience, you need to rush to Silchar Medical College. Mess food is okay; don't expect something extraordinary.
Faculty: The curriculum, as is the case in most of the engineering colleges all over India, is outdated. The professors will get after your life for 75% attendance criteria and failing to do so will result in you preparing medical certificates and running to the HOD for his sign. Teaching quality is pathetic and teachers aren't that helpful at all, with some exceptions. Lab teachers, however, are helpful, particularly the master's students.
Other: Events and fests are grand and the whole college joins the celebration. The Diwali festival, Chhatt Mahaparv and Holi are also celebrated with grandness and vibrancy. Campus life is just too good with the eye-catching natural beauty of the lush green campus.

Our Vision Towards College.
Placements: About 90% of students are placed in our college. The highest package of our college is 65 LPA and the lowest package is 15 LPA. More than 200 companies visited, such as Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Jio, Margon, Flipkart, Land, etc. It varies branch by branch. As I am in the civil branch, more than 80% get internships.
Infrastructure: The faculty members are very good in our college; they help at every moment. They also tell us to do research work. The structure of our college is good in some places, but the labs have old equipment. The hostel provides very good facilities; they provide seated rooms, and also a land and balcony. The size of the rooms is also very big. The food in the mess is not very good; they give fewer green vegetables.
Faculty: The qualifications and teaching techniques of professors are very good. They always teach the subject in a way that relates to the environment and day-to-day activities. The course curriculum is also good to some extent. They make students industry-ready. The exam papers are difficult, but they vary from paper to paper. Overall, they are moderate.
Other: I have chosen this course because in civil engineering we have more government job opportunities along with company placements. The things we need to improve in our course include the labs, but there are many events created in our college, such as Technosis and Incadence. These are two major fests organized in our college. I have filled out the NSP scholarship form.
