NIT Trichy Courses & Fees 2026: UG, PG, Doctorate Courses

As per the NIT Trichy ranking 2023, the institute is ranked number nine under the “Engineering” category. Additionally, the institute offers MTech course across popular specialisations such as Chemical Engineering, CSE, Data Analytics, Thermal Power Engineering, etc. The placement percentage for PG courses in 2022 was 92.9%. NIT Trichy offers an MSc course across four specialisations. These are Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry. All these programmes are offered in full-time mode. Admission to MSc courses is based on merit in IIT JAM followed by CCMN counselling.

Students who are graduated with BE/B Tech or equivalent from a recognised University can also apply for this course. Yes, a student can get into NIT Trichy at 98%. For courses like BTech, MBA, & MTech, the students must have lesser percentage than this in Class 12th or in graduation. In addition to this, students must qualify the entrance tests like JEE Main,  NATA, etc. 

Yes, aspirants must have CAT scores for admission in MBA course of NIT Trichy. Selected candidates must also pass a personal interview round. The institute also considers academic performance and professional work experience of applicants for final selection.

Once the CAT application form is submitted, candidates are not allowed to make changes in it. In case, you've made errors, you need to fill a fresh CAT application form and pay the fees again. However, editing of certain fields such as photo, signature and test city preference is allowed during form correction process which starts 2-3 days after the CAT registration process concludes. The form correction window is opened for 3-4 days during which candidates can edit only these three fields. If they have made a mistake in any other field, they cannot edit it. No request for changes is accepted by the examination authorities. Thus, it is very important to fill the CAT application form correctly with valid details. Candidates must keep the important documents such as Aadhaar card, class 10, class 12, graduation certificates, birth Certificate address proof, work experience documents, etc. To cross check the information while filling the form. They must also be very careful in selecting Iims and courses as they will be eligible for only those Iims and courses which they shall have selected in the CAT form.

 To get admission to M.Tech at NIT Trichy, candidates must fulfil the minimum eligibility criteria. Aspirants need to be graduated with minimum 60% aggregate with BE/BTech from a recognised University. Admission is conducted based a valid GATE score. The applicant further must submit the documents at the time of form filling and admission procedure as a proof of eligibility.

GATE Round 6 has been released for admission to the M.Tech courses. As per NIT Trichy cutoff 2023, the GATE Round 6 closing rank was 637 for General category candidates in All India quota for Computer Science & Engineering. Further, from comparing with the last two years' closing ranks, the competition has gradually increased for the current year. In the year 2021 & 2022, the last closing rank for M.Tech CSE were 753 & 653, respectively.

NIT Trichy admissions 2024 are based on GATE 2024 ranks followed by CCMT Counselling process. Candidates seeking admission to the M.Tech must appear for GATE in order to be eligible for further admission process. 

NIT Trichy JEE Main cutoff 2026 for the SC All India category varied from 51 to 3615 for the BArch and all BTech course specialisations. Overall the BArch course had the lowest first round cutoff at 51. In the case of BTech course branches, the hardest course in the first round was BTech CSE, with the cutoff being 154. 

On the other hand, for the SC HS quota, round 1 cutoff ranged from 113 to 3756. According to the first round, the most competitive course for admission was BArch, followed by BTech CSE.

The opening and closing rank depends on the category and quota of candidates. For the General category under All India, opening rank was 12165 and the closing rank was 16034. Th cut off are different when it comes to other categories or female candidates and even domicile of home state. In All India, opening and closing rank for female candidates was 19876 and 26484. Admission to BTech in Chemical Engineering in NIT Trichy - National Institute of Technology is based on the scores obtained in the entrance exam JEE. Applicants are advised to confirm what category are they applying while checking for cut offs.

If you belong to the General AI quota, the maximum required JEE Main cutoff rank in round 1 was 1317 in 2026. Candidates who want admission to the BTech course in the first round are advised to secure a cutoff below 1317 if they belong to the General AI category.

According to the past three years' round 1 cutoff data, we can say that the competition for the General AI category has been fluctuating.

The NIT Trichy CSE cutoff 2026 was 1219. In 2025 and 2024, the cutoff for the same course and round was 1620 and 1501, respectively. Tabulated below are the year-wise round 1 cutoff ranks for the General AI category.

For admission in a BTech course at NIT Trichy, candidates shall have a valid score of JEE Main. Candidates with a score equal to or more than the cutoff marks further becomes eligible for participation in the JoSAA counselling round. If the seats are left vacant after this round, then those are filled through the CSAB counselling. Candidates who pass Class 12 in Science stream wtih PCM/ PBM subjects are eligible to apply for this course.
