NLSAT Syllabus 2026- Overview

Candidates can check the details on the NLSAT 2026 Syllabus below

  • Topics asked - English Comprehension, Current Affairs, Critical Reasoning (including logical reasoning and legal aptitude), and Analytical Ability
  • No. of sections - The question paper will have two parts- Part A and Part B
  • Duration of the exam - 2 hours 30 minutes
  • Types of questions asked - Part A- Multiple-choice questions, Part B- Subjective type
  • Number of questions - 75 questions in Part A and 11 questions in Part B
  • Marking scheme -  In Part A: 1 mark to be awarded for a correct answer; 0.25 marks will be deducted for an incorrect answer, In Part B: No negative marking
  • Mode of exam - Offline

Q:   Who can apply for NLSAT Exam 2026?
A: 

Candidates who meet these eligibility criteria can apply for NLSAT 2026 Must hold a Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognised university. Minimum 45% in the undergraduate for General. Minimum 40% in the UG for Schedule caste/ ST/OBC.

Q:   What is the total score in NLSAT?
A: 

The total score in NLSAT 2026 is 150 marks. Candidates must note that the marking scheme is divided in two parts. For first section it is 80 marks and for second one it is 70. There is no negative marking.

Q:   Is 'Legal Aptitude' section removed from the NLSAT question paper?
A: 

As per the NLSAT exam pattern released by the NLSIU, Legal Reasoning remains a part of the question paper along with Quantitative Techniques, English Current Affairs including General Knowledge and Logical Reasoning. If the exam authority decides to remove any of the sections, then it will inform the candidates in admission notification itself, so that candidates can prepare for the exam accordingly.

Candidates were advised to prepare for NLSAT 2026 by following the simple steps given below:

  • Make a monthly and weekly timetable and keep the syllabus handy
  • Do not leave any topic, make sure you cover all the topics. Do try and finish on time so you have enough time for revision
  • Pratice as many as mock tests possible. Practice the tests frequently and analyze it to recognize your weak and strong areas. This will help you to know which topic requires work.
  • While attempting the question, try not make any assumption. Even on NLSAT 2026 Exam day, do not assume, as for every in
