Overview

National Law School of India University, Bengaluru, has released the NLSAT syllabus 2026. The syllabus is divided into two parts, Part A (Objective) and Part B (Descriptive). The objective section of question paper will consist of reading comprehension, general awareness, and critical reasoning. Whereas, part B will include questions from legan aptitude/reasoning and analytical ability. Candidates will be required to attempt both parts of the question paper. Q:   Is 'Legal Aptitude' section removed from the NLSAT question paper?
A: 

As per the NLSAT exam pattern released by the NLSIU, Legal Reasoning remains a part of the question paper along with Quantitative Techniques, English Current Affairs including General Knowledge and Logical Reasoning. If the exam authority decides to remove any of the sections, then it will inform the candidates in admission notification itself, so that candidates can prepare for the exam accordingly.

  • The essay should comprise four to five parts, namely: Introduction of the topic, supporting arguments with evidence, counterarguments, and a Balanced Take on the issue
  • Use the IRAC Method for drafting the NLSAT Essay, which means that the candidate must address: Apply Issue, Rule, Application, and Conclusion (IRAC) to the topic being asked.

Q:   How can I prepare for NLSAT 2026?
A: 

Candidates were advised to prepare for NLSAT 2026 by following the simple steps given below:

  • Make a monthly and weekly timetable and keep the syllabus handy
  • Do not leave any topic, make sure you cover all the topics. Do try and finish on time so you have enough time for revision
  • Pratice as many as mock tests possible. Practice the tests frequently and analyze it to recognize your weak and strong areas. This will help you to know which topic requires work.
  • While attempting the question, try not make any assumption. Even on NLSAT 2026 Exam day, do not assume, as for every in
  • Do not make assumptions while attempting the questions in actual NLSAT as for every incorrect answer, 0.25 marks will be deducted.

Candidates who meet these eligibility criteria can apply for NLSAT 2026 Must hold a Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognised university. Minimum 45% in the undergraduate for General. Minimum 40% in the UG for Schedule caste/ ST/OBC.

The NLSAT answer key will be released by the conducting body within a week's time after the exam date. Candidates will first be able to access the provisional answer key, followed by the final one on the result day.

The NLSAT 2026 Application Form was available till March 30, 2026 after the deadline was extended by the conducting body, NLSIU, Bengaluru. Candidates will have to fill out the form in online mode.
