Academic Performance: Applicants failing to meet the GATE qualification criteria are required to have 60% marks in a course equivalent to B.E/B.Tech to be offered admission provided there are unoccupied seats after giving admissions to GATE-qualified candidates.

Entrance Exam: In some specializations admission can also be provided on the basis of Panjab University Common Entrance Test (PU CET) in postgraduate courses.

 For a few courses, such as MA, BA, MLib, etc., admissions are completely based on merit in the last qualifying examination. Panjab University also gives UG courses, Postgraduate and Doctoral courses all in full-time basis. Yes, Punjab University does offer Scholarships for ST/SC category. The scholarship are offered keeping the following criteria in consideration:

• Those Students belonging to OBCs so specified in relation to the state/Union Terrritory to which the applicant actually belongs, i.e. is permanently settled, who have passed the Matriculation
• Students who have secured minimum 50% or equivalent grade
• Students belonging to Scheduled Caste and special grants to girls belonging to Scheduled Castes.

The highest package offered to the Engineering batch 2025 was INR 24 LPA. On the other hand, the highest salary offered to the MBA students during Punjab University placements 2025 was also INR 24 LPA.
