Academic Performance: Applicants failing to meet the GATE qualification criteria are required to have 60% marks in a course equivalent to B.E/B.Tech to be offered admission provided there are unoccupied seats after giving admissions to GATE-qualified candidates.

Entrance Exam: In some specializations admission can also be provided on the basis of Panjab University Common Entrance Test (PU CET) in postgraduate courses.

 For a few courses, such as MA, BA, MLib, etc., admissions are completely based on merit in the last qualifying examination. After JEE session 2 is completed, only those candidates who are aiming for IITs need to start preparing for JEE Advanced after clearing JEE Main. Yes, Punjab University does offer Scholarships for ST/SC category. The scholarship are offered keeping the following criteria in consideration:

• Those Students belonging to OBCs so specified in relation to the state/Union Terrritory to which the applicant actually belongs, i.e. is permanently settled, who have passed the Matriculation
• Students who have secured minimum 50% or equivalent grade
• Students belonging to Scheduled Caste and special grants to girls belonging to Scheduled Castes.
