In the field of Design, SRM IST Chennai Kattankulathur campus offers a two-year MDes programme to the students. For MDes, candidates with a valid score in the CEED exam are preferred. The final selection is based on a written exam followed by a Personal Interview round conducted by the School of Design, SRMIST. Those not having a valid score are also considered subject to a valid score in the written test and PI.

SRM Institute of Science and Technology admissions are conducted on the basis of entrance tests. The admission for the flagship programs are held on the basis of SRMJEEE UG exam. Further, SRM MBA admissions are conducted on the basis of SRMJEEM test. The SRMJEEE PG test is conducted for the various SRMIST PG courses. The university also accepts scoring from nationally-held tests like CAT, TANCET, MAT, etc. for admissions.
SRM University conducts SRM JEE exam for admission to Engineering courses. The university does not accept scores for any other entrance exams. Also, direct admission is not valid either. Candidates are shortlisted for BTech and M.Tech based on their past academic records and scores obtained in the entrance exam.
To sit for the respective exams, candidates must apply for the exams priorly and make a preparation strategy to ace the exam.

Candidates looking for course admissions must meet the eligibility criteria set by the college. The university fee structure is cumulative of several components, such as caution deposit, tuition fee, hostel fee, and more. A few of these components are one-time payable, while some have are charged annually/semesterly. SRM IST Chennai MBA tuition fee ranges between INR 1.9 Lacs and INR 11.5 lakh. Moreover, the one-time fee range between INR 1,200 and INR 11,000 and the hostel charges range between INR 1.45 Lacs and INR 3.3 lakh.

SRMIST offers scholarships to help meritorious students with their academic goals. The concession is subject to MBA first-year CGPA of above 8 and no standing arrears and commendable in participative learning. SRM University MDes application process 2025 is completely online. However, the students who are willing to subject the hard copy of the application form offline can also do it. The form must be submitted following the application fee payment of INR 1,200. A step-by-step process of SRM University (deemed-to-be) application is as follows:
- Step 1: Visit the official website of the deemed university https://www.srmist.edu.in/.
- Step 2: Register online and log in using a valid email ID and password.
- Step 3: Fill in all the personal details.
- Step 4: Select the desired course.
- Step 5: Enter details of Father and Mother.
- Step 6: Candidates need to enter their educational qualifications in the next step.
- Step 7: For online registration or downloaded forms, candidates need to pay INR 1,200 either through e-payment or DD.

The online application is for admission to B.Tech programmes offered in SRM IST Chennai (Kattankulathur, Vadapalani, Ramapuram, Tiruchirappalli and Delhi - NCR Campus - Ghaziabad (UP), SRM University - Sonepat, Haryana and SRM University, Andhra Pradesh - Andhra Pradesh. The exam fee is Rs.1400/ - for each phase and it is Non-Refundable. There would be 3 different phases of SRMJEEE conducted. If the candidate wishes to take the SRMJEEE exam more than once, he/she can fill the required application form with respect to each phase.
