B.E. in Chemical Engineering - Batch of 2023

Chemical engineering at Thapar University was a wholesome experience.
Placements: Almost every student of my batch was placed with the highest package of 19 LPA in non-core at JP Morgan, and in core it was 18 LPA at Trident. The lowest package was 6 LPA, which was offered by L&T. My batch strength was 48, and 44 were placed. The rest didn't apply for placements.
Infrastructure: The hostel was brilliant, and even the mess food was good. The hostel was equipped with gym facilities and a table tennis playing area. It also had a fountain area to spend time with friends gossiping. The mess people were very nice and also ready to help with any issue the student is facing with the food quality.
Faculty: Faculty was very nice and helpful and was always available to address any issues the students were facing. Curriculum was good and not very hectic. But you'll have different assignments—practical and sessional—going throughout the semester. Overall, the experience is very good.
Other: You'll find all kinds of people there, and you'll get a chance to be with amazing people. There are different societies that you can be a part of and have an exciting time in. There are always fests and events being conducted throughout the year.

Thapar Institute is a good college for hard workers.
Placements: Placements at Thapar are good. Normally the process starts in 3rd year with companies providing internships and PPOs. Thapar is visited by all the major brands you know, some examples being JP Morgan, De Shaw, Microsoft, and most good. Remember, college's role is to provide you exposure which Thapar is good but grabbing those opportunities depends on your hard work.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure and hostels are well-maintained, and state-of-the-art facilities are provided here at and more or less reasonable price and that is good. The library is well-equipped with several engineering and non-engineering books suitable for people pursuing extra academic things.
Faculty: The faculty members are well-read and very supportive. Examination cell is very supportive but beware of cheating in exams if you're caught. Things can turn ugly. The best thing is your problems will be considered by faculty members, and the administration will try their best to make all kinds of examination processes easy for you.

The highest package offered till now is Rs7.5 Lacs and the lowest is Rs5 Lacs. 6. 100% of students got internship in places like DRDO, IIP, EIL, Technip etc.
Infrastructure: 1. The campus is fully Wi-Fi enabled. The labs are properly equipped with all the necessary equipments usually. The classrooms are little old with wooden furniture and the blackboards need to be replaced with whiteboards according to the fees structure. 2. The hostels were fully equipped with AC, geyser, study tables etc. Mess food is better than other hostels. Medical facilities are up to the mark to a certain level. Sports facilities are good.
Faculty: 1. Some of the teachers are well qualified and knowledgeable. They can easily clear the doubts of the students. Whereas on the other hand, some teachers are not so qualified enough to teach certain subjects. 2. Yes. The course curriculum is relevant and make the students ready for industry.
Other: 1. Chemical Engineering branch is highly underrated branch. I had a great interest in Chemical Engineering after studying and researching about it. 2. More practical knowledge than theory. 3. Great fests and events which are great entertainer.

The internships scenario is not very good as only toppers get placed through the college in companies like UOP, and others have to manage on their own.

Chemical Engineering Department, TIET.
Placements: According to previous records the placement for Chemical Engineering department goes upto 80%. The highest package was 12 Lacs, the average was 6 Lacs and the lowest offered was 5.5 Lacs. Companies like reliance, bectel, acc cement, Samsung, J. P. Morgan visit the campus for recruitments. Placements are available for process engineer post, designer and others. Nonetheless 90% students got internships in companies like DRDO, reliance and others.
Infrastructure: Highly equipped labs with high class and qualitative facilities are there for the chemical engineers. All-time free Wi-Fi is available. You can visit labs for performing any experiments or projects or demonstrations. Hostels in the campus are really great and the food is not bad in any hostel and even good in many.
Faculty: The best part of the chemical engineering department in the university is that all rude faculty here is doctorate in philosophy from reported IITs, they have great knowledge about chemical engineering and their subjects. They are always available for doubts related to their subject or even other kind of problems. The course curriculum is relevant.
Other: This course is the only field that is related to all kinds of sciences, physical or chemical, the practical systems engineering is involved in this course.

Very much satisfied with good placements in 2018.
Placements: Placements for the senior batch were quite good. Around 75% of the students were placed with an average package of 7 LPA. The highest package offered was 15 LPA for 3 students, and the lowest package was 2.2 LPA for 1 student. Companies like Reliance, Asian Paints, HPCL and many more visited Thapar, last year.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of classrooms is very good. The newly built classrooms have A/C facilities. The infrastructure of labs is also very good. The CS lab has new computers mainly of Dell and Apple. The management has recently bought many machines from Germany for the chemical engineering lab, and they cost crores of rupees.
Faculty: Teachers in Thapar are very cooperative. If any student encounters any problem, be it academic or non-academic, the teachers are always present and are willing to help the students. Almost all the teachers are PhD holders, and the professor for chemistry subject is a fellow member of The Royal Society, UK.

I am partially satisfied. Placements for 2019 batch were good.
Placements: Almost 75% of students from our batch were placed. There is almost 100% placement record for computers students. Many mass recruiters visit the campus for placements. Non-core companies are the major recruiters. The highest salary package offered was 37 LPA. The lowest salary package offered was 3.5 LPA. The average salary package offered was around 6-7 LPA. Companies also recruit students for internships in the 3rd year.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college is the best. Hostels are awesome. New buildings have world class facilities. It is the best place to study for computers students. Regarding sports, there are swimming pool, courts, and athlete track along with an awesome view.
Faculty: Faculty members in our college are supportive, but they won't motivate you if you take an extra step. The course curriculum for the first 2 years is bad. They should include more projects similar to capstone. Practical exposure should be more. Faculty members have the knowledge, but they fail to deliver the same.

Satisfied with campus life but not curriculum.
Placements: Placements are okay. 50% of chemical students got placed in reputed companies like yara fertilizers, jp morgan, JSW steel, johnson matthey and honeywell. The highest package was 12 LPA which was given by JP morgan and average package is around 5 LPA. So placements are good.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is awesome. Campus has full Wi-Fi, good labs and good classrooms. Campus has a library where you can find books related to your interest. Hostel rooms are very good and food provided in the hostels is also very good. You will not face any difficulties related to this.
Faculty: Faculty of chemical engineering is the worst and they don't even know what is happening in the department. Yes, they are highly qualified but their method of teaching is very poor. No, we didn't get any exposure to industry which is a the worst thing. So chemical engineering department is not up to mark.

Good placements especially in 2019.
Placements: Placements from our batch is going good. Students are placed in renowned companies like Jp Morgan, Deloitte reliance, srf limited, Honeywell, Ambuja Cement, Jubilant, etc. Almost 50 percent students of our batch are placed. The average CTC offered is around 6 Lacs.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is very good of our college. We get Wi-Fi facilities, medical facilities, libraries are which have variety of books available, good classrooms etc. Our hostel is very good just like a hotel. And moreover, food in our mess is great. Usually, one can't accept such food in college. Overall campus is good.
Faculty: Teachers are easily approachable. They are qualified, knowledgeable and helpful. We twice get industry exposure where we can see how the equipment actually work. We get to know how the heat exchangers and distillations columns worked.
Other: Campus surroundings is very good. Nearby there are lots of restaurants n other facilities. There's are number of societies of different departments where one could gain experience.
