It is the drastic mistake of my life.
Placements: There are around 75 students, out of which 6 to 7 are placed and 93% are unplaced. Later, some students are able to get placed on their own or through referrals. Students study biotech for 4 years, and the college does not provide even a single core company. We are eligible for very few companies (10 out of 100), mostly in sales or pure technical coding roles. Finance and consulting companies are there, but hardly 1 or 2.
Infrastructure: The college is excellent in terms of hostels and classrooms. But average in terms of labs. As many core experiments are done in groups of 10 people, giving little hands-on experience. Hostel facilities are high class with good food. Classrooms are also good and air-conditioned.
Faculty: I will be blunt and honest with this. Except for 2 or 3 professors, no one is there to help in terms of placement, career, or curriculum. I remember one of my professors telling me to drop the semester as I was short in attendance due to a major surgery. My fault was only requesting him to allow me to sit in the exam and manage my attendance. At the same time, he allowed fest students, but I, with all medical reports, was not allowed, so I had to go to the dean for the same.
Other: If you are getting a CS-related or circuital branch. They have lots of money to spend, or just need a degree with an extravagant college life, you are at the right place. For branches like Biotech, your college life is like a ship destined to nowhere, filled with disappointment, and you will end up wasting four crucial years of your life.

It has a great infrastructure, faculty members, and a strong research focus.
Placements: Approximately 83% of UG students got placed in the recent cycle. The highest salary package offered is 21 LPA. The average salary package offered is 5 LPA. Top recruiting companies like Vedanta Innovation Private Limited, Growth Jockey, and JP Morgan visit the college for placements.
Infrastructure: Thapar Biotechnology department offers advanced labs, Wi-Fi-enabled advanced classes with projector facilities in every class, and a rich library. Hostels are also well-equipped with all the facilities like laundry, cleaning staff, hygienic food, canteens, RO water, and medical services.
Faculty: Thapar Biotechnology faculty members are easily approachable and qualified. The course curriculum is relevant and covers lab work, internships, projects, and research. Exams are moderately challenging with an 85% pass rate, The course curriculum is updated regularly focusing on bioinformatics, molecular Biology, and other key concepts.
Other: The best thing about the course is that it is very fascinating and we get to research and learn about fascinating things. Thapar hosts a lot of tests like TFF (Thapar food festival) and Saturnalia with an energetic crowd and vibrant clubs. The campus is scenic with good connectivity.

It is an expensive college but has great campus life.
Placements: Placements of our branch biotechnology are pretty decent. The average salary package offered ranges from 6-7 LPA. Many pharma companies visit the college for internships and placements like Roots Analysis, Biocon, Sun Pharma, Dabur, etc. The highest salary package offered is 16 LPA and the lowest salary package offered is 2 LPA.
Infrastructure: Thapar University has a campus of 250 acres. It has a lush green campus with a four-floor huge library. Classrooms have air-conditioned installed and a projector for teaching. Hostels are very good. It has free Wi-Fi, air-conditioned rooms, and washrooms attached to rooms. There are many guards around the campus.
Faculty: Faculty members of our course are knowledgeable. They all are PhD holders from some foreign universities. Many faculty members have sponsored research projects going on. There are 8 semesters which include mid-term, end-term, and sessional exams. The course itself is developed by Thapar itself as it is a deemed university.

It is good for B. Tech Biotechnology with well-equipped labs and good faculty.
Placements: Almost 80% are placed this year in this course. The highest salary package offered is 40 LPA. The average salary package offered is 15 LPA - 20 LPAand the lowest salary package offered is 6 LPA - 7 LPA. Top recruiting companies for our course are Stryker, J.P. Morgan, and Root Analysis. After this course, various opportunities are waiting for students. We can work as a biotechnologist in the research field. We can work in pharmaceutical companies. We can start our own business after it. By learning coding and AI skills in this field, it will be of great help for better opportunities.
Infrastructure: Our college will be provided with great labs and great air conditioner classes. Campus is also very good. If we talk about hostels, they are very good. We get spacious rooms with air conditioners or non-conditioners as per our choice. Food is also amazing compared to other colleges.
Faculty: Faculty members are very good, professional, and cooperative at Thapar. They help students with everything and are ready to assist you anytime. The faculty is friendly here, and they teach you us the best. Semester exams in the first semester may be difficult as syllabus is new for students, and it will take time to understand subjects. But there is no need to worry, with time and proper study, students will improve. We have two exams each semester MSTs and tests. Before them, there are class tests and lab evaluations.

The absolute amazing life at Thapar.
Placements: 90 percent students were placed. The highest package offered was 40 LPA, the lowest was 4-5 LPA with an average of 7 LPA. Companies like JPMC, Bane, Black Rock and Microsoft visited for hiring. Internships percentage was 40-50 percent in pharma companies and biotech firms like Biocon and JPMC. Top roles offered were that of data analyst, research analyst and in finance.
Infrastructure: The course had facilities like Wi-Fi, AC, labs, library, charging points, speakers, ICT boards, etc. Hostel is the best providing 2 seater and single seater rooms with AC and attached bathrooms along with a mess inside every hostel and canteen. There is a gym in every hostel along with a table tennis room, tv room, study rooms, medical services, etc.
Faculty: The teachers are nice and helpful, but you have to study on your own mainly to understand things. The course curriculum is fine. We have projects and ELC activities. The exams are decent being held twice a year along with lab evaluations. The passing marks are 37/100. We have sessional internals of 10 marks before the end and mid semester exams.
Other: I chose this course because I think B.Tech is better than B.Sc. My course is unique and involves practical learning. They should hire better teachers probably. We have like 6-7 cultural fest, sports fest, and 30 plus societies to join making our college life amazing. There are 20 scholarship criteria given on the college’s webpage.

It's a well-structured college with good exposure to hands-on labs for biotech students.
Placements: 80% of students were placed this year. The lowest AVG package is INR 7 LPA, and the highest is INR 25 LPA. 90% students get internships at DRDO, Sun pharma, Dr. Reddy, etc. Whirlpool, Schneider, accenture and IBM are the top recruiting companies. It's a very well-reputed college, so many companies come here.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure related to academics excels in every area, be it Wi-Fi, labs, equipment, classrooms and libraries. The building are well-sufficient Boys hostels are far more developed than girls and that is the only disadvantage some girls hostels are good but others are in bad shape, where as almost all boys hostels are good The mess food is good except on occasions .
Faculty: It's so academic-oriented that we are not able to focus on co-curriculars or societies. There is too much pressure for studies and exams. But teaching quality is good and exams are difficult. The pass percentage is 35%. Time is short in between regular classes and exams but we have to manage.
Other: I have a great interest in the research and biological aspects of life The best thing is the exposure we get due to so many practicals and labs. Less theoretical knowledge and more practical knowledge would enhance our hands-on experiences. The fests, activities and societies have a lot of exposure and activities for us to participate in.

Good placements in Biotech.
Placements: Thapar university or now known as Thapar institute of Engineering and Technology (TIET) is now located in Patiala, Punjab. The employment rate has remained above 90% for the past six years. It recently undertook a 2022 placement exercise. A total of 361 recruiters participated and 1622students were recruited. Students are offered a maximum package of INR 40 LPA while the average package is INR 10.7 LPA. Top recruiting companies include zomato, Deloitte, IBM, Infosys, JPMC, Microsoft, Reliance, Samsung, Wipro and many more.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is great, although, there are WI-FI issues sometimes, which are resolved overnight. Labs are well-equipped. The library has great variety of books to meet the demand of every branch in this campus. However, there is lack of college support in fields like entrepreneurship. The campus works more like a school, with strict 75% attendance mandatory with 8am - 5pm Classes.
Faculty: The teachers are very knowledgeable and helpful, inside and outside of the classroom. They know what they're talking about and the subject they are teaching. Being a deemed to be University, the course is versatile and keeps on changing with the need of time.
Other: The campus life at thapar is great. The campus is huge enough, and engages the students with many cultural as well as other activities.

A well known and a good college.
Placements: All students with 82% or higher were admitted in the college. The lowest is 5-7 lacs per year, while the average is 12 lacs. Highest-paying companies are Whirlpool, Schneider, Accenture, and IBM. Top roles include research, management, analytics, and all biotechnology-related fields. It was one of the main reasons I chose Thapar over other colleges. They do provide good placement and opportunities to build our CVs during these years.
Infrastructure: Thapar has one of the best infrastructures I have ever seen. A few buildings are old, yes, but, the new ones are beautifully and well-designed. They're also re-newing the old ones so they'll be better in no time with the moder technologies provided. It also has one of the biggest libraries I have ever see. Though, sometimes some technical errors occur too as any other place but they re taken care of.
Faculty: Teachers here are helpful, though, like any other place, some teachers are not so good while teaching or distributing marks with too much strictness. Thapar also has higher credit points and exams are tough but not impossible. And we also get projects and advice from our teachers for our better future. Passing percentage is 35%.
Other: This course has a lot of scope in research Biology department that I have always been interested in. It provides us with lab work, research and more theoretical concept of relating everything with the biological aspects including how Chemistry technology and Biology work together. They can give us more projects to do and provide us with better hostel facilities. We have a lot of Wi-Fi issues. The fests and crowds are good and engaging.
