The MA eligibility criteria  at Madras University, differs on the choice of specialisation. Check below to know the course-wise eligibility requirements:

• MA Political Science:  BA Political Science or any other degree recognised by the University of Madras.
• MA Economics: BA Economics/BCom/BA Corporate Secretaryship/ Mathematics/BSc Statistics.
• MA Journalism & Mass Communication:  Preference for candidates with a media background and experience of not less than three years.
• MA English: BA English or BA & BSc with Part-II English.

According to the University of Madras NIRF report, 483 PG 2 year students were placed in 2024 with a median package of INR 4.2 LPA. In PG 3 year program, 7 students got placements with a median salary of INR 4.80 LPA.

TANCET scores are valid for a period of one year. Candidates aspiring for admission in 2023-24 exam session can only use the TANCET 2023 scores for admission. Candidates who wish for an MBA Admission in any of the TANCET participating colleges in 2024-25 batch must appear for TANCET 2024.

Irrespective of the 2023 score, DTE Tamil Nadu will not consider the TANCET 2023 scores for 2024 admission. Similarly, candidates planning to apply for MBA Admission in 2025-26 batch, must apply for the TANCET 2025 exam.

Aspirants shall first check the eligibility criteria for admission to PG Diploma courses and ensure that they fulfil the requirements. For eligibility, a candidate must have a valid UG Diploma/Bachelor or equivalent degree from the University of Madras or from any other university recognised as equivalent thereto. Admission is further merit-based. Hence, the candidate's scores in the last qualifying examination are taken into consideration. During the seat allotment, some other factors considered are the cutoff marks, number of applicants, and category of the candidate.

Madras University average package is not available yet. The median package offered to PG 2 year students in 2024 was INR 4.3 LPA, whereas the median package offered to PG 3 year students was INR 4.8 LPA.
