The requirement of entrance exam varies course-wise at University of Mysore. The university considers scores in CAT, MAT, Karnataka PGCET, GATE, etc. for admission to specific courses. The university also conducts Postgraduate Entrance Exam (PGEE) for admission to PG courses. The selection for courses such as MCom, M.Ed, etc. is merit-based.

The eligibility criteria for MBA course admissions at Mysore University is that candidate should have passed Class 12 and graduation with a minimum of 40-55 % aggregate. Also, the admissions to MBA programme is entrance based. The entrance exams accepted include MAT CAT Karnataka PGCET XAT CMAT GMAT ATMA KMAT KCET GRE. B.Com	(i) A candidate who has passed 3 years Diploma in Commercial or Secretarial Practice conducted by the Department of Technical Education, Government of Karnataka is eligible for admission to Third Semester B.Com/B.B.A. directly. However, such a candidate has to pass the languages and other Compulsory Papers viz., Constitution of India and Environmental Studies of first two semesters. Such candidates will not be subjected to any IA in these papers. However, for eventual calculation of 80 marks is equated to 100 marks. (ii) A candidate who has passed 3 years Diploma in Business Administration conducted by the Department of Technical Education, Government of Karnataka is eligible for admission to Fifth Semester B.B.A./B.Com. Degree Course, subject to the condition that, the candidate has to pass papers in languages as compulsory papers of first Four Semesters B.B.A./B.Com. Such candidates will not be subjected to any IA in these papers. However, for eventual calculation of
BBA	(i) A candidate who has passed 3 years Diploma in Commercial or Secretarial Practice conducted by the Department of Technical Education, Government of Karnataka is eligible for admission to Third Semester B.Com/B.B.A. directly.
