Entrance Exams Applicable in Sastra Deemed University

Sastra Deemed University provides 120 courses at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate levels.

Sastra Deemed University is dedicated to offering high-quality advanced learning, performing valuable research and benefiting students. 

This institution provides 120 courses at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate levels. These courses are divided into various categories such as Engineering, Technology, Arts & Science, Humanities, Education, Commerce, Law and Management. Entrance exams are not conducted by the institution. Entrance exams conducted and approved by the Government of India are accepted for admission.

Top Courses at Sastra Deemed University

  • Bachelor of Technology (BTech)
  • Master of Technology (MTech)
  • Bachelor of Law (LLB, five-year Integrated course)
  • Master of Business Administration (MBA)
  • Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)

Admission to the above-mentioned courses is provided based on entrance exams conducted by the Government of India. Entrance exams applicable for these courses are as follows:

  • JEE Main
  • GATE
  • CLAT
  • CAT
  • UGC-NET

A brief description of the entrance exams is given below:

For BTech Courses:

Applicants who want to get admission in Bachelor of Technology courses should have appeared for Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main). Students who have scored more than 75% in JEE exam are eligible. Eligible students are called for admission based on the total marks scored in class 12 and the percentage scored in JEE Main exam.

For MTech Courses:

Applicants who want to get admission in Master of Technology courses should have cleared the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). Students who have scored more than 30% in the GATE exam are eligible. Eligible students are called for admission based on the percentage scored in graduation and the percentage scored in the GATE exam.

For LLB Courses:

Applicants who want to get admission in Bachelor of Law courses should have appeared for Common Law Admission Test (CLAT). Students who have scored more than 45% in the CLAT exam are eligible. Eligible students are called for admission based on the total marks scored in class 12 and the percentage scored in the CLAT exam.

For MBA Course:

Applicants who want to get admission in the Master of Business Administration course should have appeared for Common Aptitude Test (CAT). Students who have scored more than 50% in the CAT exam are eligible. Eligible students are called for admission based on the percentage scored in graduation and the percentage scored in the CAT exam.

For PhD Courses:

Applicants who want to get admission for Doctor of Philosophy courses should have appeared for University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET). Students who have scored more than 40% in the UGC NET exam are eligible. Eligible students are called for admission based on the cumulative percentage scored in the postgraduation and the UGC NET exam.

Entrance Exam Dates and Details 

JEE Main

Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main) is an entrance exam conducted for the students who desire to pursue their education in engineering and technology. This exam is held twice a year in April and May. Students have to apply for the exam on the respective website in March or April. Admit card of the exam is available one week prior to the exam. Results are declared within one month after the exam takes place. The duration of the exam is thee hours. Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from classes 11 & 12 are covered.

GATE:

Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an entrance exam conducted for individuals who desire to pursue their PG studies in engineering and technology. This exam is held once a year in February. Students have to apply for the exam on the respective website in September. Admit card for the exam is available in January. Results are declared in March. The duration of the exam is three hours. General Aptitude, Engineering Mathematics and subject-related questions are covered.

CLAT:

The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is an entrance exam conducted for individuals who desire to pursue their studies in law. This exam is held once a year in June. Students have to apply on the respective website from the month of January to May. Admit cards for the exam are available one week prior to the exam. Results are declared within one week after the exam takes place. The duration is two hours. English, Current Affairs, Legal & Logical Reasoning and Quantitative Aptitude are covered.

CAT:

Common Aptitude Test (CAT) is an entrance exam conducted for the students who desire to pursue their postgraduation in management. This exam is held once a year in November. Students have to apply for the exam on the respective website from August to September. Admit card for the exam is available in October. Results are declared in January. The duration is two hours. Verbal & Quantitative Ability, Logical Reasoning, Data Interpretation and Reading Comprehension are covered.

UGC NET:

University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) is an entrance exam conducted for individuals who desire to attain a PhD. This exam is held twice a year in June and December. Students have to apply for the exam on the respective website one month prior to the exam. Admit cards are available one week before the exam. Results are declared within one month after the exam takes place. The duration is three hours. General Knowledge, Reasoning Ability, and Reading Comprehension are covered.

Group Discussion and Personal Interview (GD/PI):

For admission to MBA, GD & PI are conducted for the students, who have cleared the CAT exam. GD & PI are held at SASTRA Deemed University of Thanjavur campus. Admission is based on the student’s performance in GD & PI.

With 95.5% in IPE and 90 percentile in JEE Mains, your combined score is strong enough for SASTRA’s ECE cutoff in recent years.

Past admissions show students with slightly lower marks have still got ECE.
