The UPTAC registration 2026 will start in May. Eligible candidates must register for UPTAC to take part in the counselling process for admission to various first-year and second-year UG courses at all institutions affiliated with or constituent to AKTU and other state universities. BTech admission are one based on JEE Main scores. BArch admission is done based on NATA scores and for other courses CURT UG / PG scores are used. The admission is granted via the centralised state level counselling called the Uttar Pradesh Technical Admission Counselling (UPTAC) conducted by Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU).

The last round of the UPTAC counselling is called the special round. Candidates who have confirmed their seats after last main round of the counselling process are not eligible for this round. Or, all such candidates who have been allotted seats and have paid seat acceptance fee but have not withdrawn in Stage 2 & 3 cannot appear in this round.

Fresh registration are held for the special round. Candidates have to register for using the link available on the official website of UPTAC for participating in UPTAC special counselling round.

As per the UPTAC counselling information borchure - under the approval of AICTE, identified institutions shall admit FN/PIO/CIWGC up to the extent sanctioned by AICTE as per the eligibility criteria and guidelines of the University. These supernumerary seats shall be exclusively meant for the FN/PIO/CIWGC students in undergraduate courses with the condition that under no circumstances a seat remained unfilled shall be allocated to candidates other than a FN/PIO/CIWGC. The candidates, opting for admission under this scheme, need not to appear in any entrance exam. The B.Arch. course does not exist for such candidates.

Choice filling in UPTAC counselling is the process wherein all candidates who have registered for the counselling, are required to submit their choices of Institute and Program in order of their preference. Based on the choices of the candidates and their ranks in respective enetrance exam, seats are allotted for admission.

Seats in UPTAC counselling is allotted based on respective entrance exam scores. For BTech, the ranks of JEE Main is used to allot seats. Seats are allotted by taking into consideration the choices filled by the candidates, their ranks and their category.

Candiates seeking admission to AKTU and have appeared for the CUET-UG entrance test are eligible to register themselves for the Uttar Pradesh Technical Admission Counselling (UPTAC) counselling process conducted by AKTU. Also, candidates who have passed the qualifying examination from any institution located in UP or whose parents are domicile of UP subject to the eligibility conditions given in the AKTU brochure are eligible for the counselling round.

The candidates who have selected "freeze" and "float" in round 1 can participate in UPTAC round 2 counselling. Apart from that, fresh candidates who have registered and paid the fee but did not fill in any choices in round 1 can participate in round 2. Also, those candidates who did not get any seat in the UPTAC round 1 can also participate in round 2.

No, there are no such requirements. The following candidates are considered the domicile of UP:

• Candidates who have passed the qualifying examination from any institution located in UP, or
• Candidates whose parents are domiciled in UP, subject to the eligibility conditions.
• If the candidate has passed a qualifying examination from outside UP, they have to upload a domicile certificate of their parents (Father OR Mother only).
• UPTAC counselling is also open to the candidates who have passed the qualifying examination from any institution located outside U.P. and whose parents (both Father and Mother) are not domiciled in UP, subject to the eligibility conditions.
