How to Get BTech Admission Through CUET 

The first stage in getting admission in BTech through CUET is to fill the application form and appear in the entrance exam. Candidates have to select a subject combination as per the requirements of the institute in which admission is desired while filling the application form.

After obtaining a valid score in CUET, candidates need to fill the counselling registration form of the institute. The college will allot BTech admission through CUET score based on the CUET BTech cutoff.

Advantages of CUET over JEE Main

CUET has two main benefits over JEE Main

  • CUET offers admission to many other courses besides BTech. Students who select Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) as their domain subjects in CUET can also participate for admission in BSc, BCA, BSc IT, and BCom courses in various Central and State Universities.
  • The syllabus of CUET covers only class 12 topics while JEE Main syllabus covers topics of both class 11 and 12. Students have to study more topics in JEE Main as compared to CUET

CUET BTech Eligibility Criteria 2026

It is important to check the eligibility criteria of BTech admission through CUET. Provided below are the conditions every candidate should fulfill to get admission to BTech through CUET.

  • Should opt of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in Group II of CUET
  • Passed Class 12 or its equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics (PCM) OR Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology (PCMB) with English from a Board/University recognized by the Institute/Board
  • Scored at least 50% marks or equivalent G.P.A. in aggregate in class 12.
  • Candidate should not be more than 23 years on 1st July 2026 (applicant should be born on or after 2nd July of 2001).

Q:   What is Qualifying marks for JEE Mains 2026?
A:

Qualifying marks for JEE Mains 2026, also called qualifying percentile for JEE Mains will be announced by the NTA along with the JEE Main 2026 session 2 result. Candidates must note that qualifying percentile for JEE Mains 2026 is the minimum percentile required to appear in JEE Advanced 2026. For admission to NIT or IIITs, there is no provision of qualifying marks in JEE Mains 2026 and admission is given based on All India Rank in JEE Mains exam. NTA will announce JEE Mains 2026 All India rank in April after session 2 exam results. 

Q:   JEE Main category ranks are used for admission or general ranks?
A:

Both JEE Main ranks are used for admission to NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs. While allocating the seats the institute will take into consideration the category ranks first for the candidates who belong to any category.

Q:   Is the criteria of 75% marks in class 12 applicable in JEE Main 2026?
A:

There is no requirement of 75% marks in class 12 for appearing in JEE Mains 2026. The eligibility criteria of minimum 75% marks in class 12 is required at the time of admission in NITs, IIITs and GFTIs. You can apply and appear in JEE Mains 2026 irrespective of your class 12 marks. The detailed JEE Main eligibility criteria 2026 can be checked on the official website. A. No, IITs do not accept CUET scores for BTech admission. CUET scores are accepted only at central and state universities for admission to various programs including BTech.

There is no minimum or maximum age to apply for JEE Main as per JEE Main eligibility criteria by NTA. You can appear in JEE Mains for three consecutive years from the year of passing class 12. You must have passed class 12 in 2024, 2025 or you are appearing in 2026 if you plan to apply for JEE Main 2026.

Q:   When JEE Mains ranks will be declared?
A:

JEE Main ranks are released with the JEE Main session 2 result in April. The ranks are released on an All India basis and also category wise.

Q:   I do not have Chemistry subject in my class 12. Can I still apply for JEE Main?
A:

As per the JEE Main eligibility criteria, candidates must have Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects and any one subject from the optional list of Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, or Technical vocation course. JEE Main exam is not mandatory for admission in Prestige University BTech courses. Students can apply with a valid score of other entrance exams as well. The other accepted exams are CUET/ SAT/ ACT and PU Aptitude Test.

Yes, SRM do accepts JEE Main score for admission to a few programs at certain campuses. As per the details available in the official website - "Any Candidate qualified in IIT JEE Main/SAT will be admitted directly even if the candidate doesn't take SRMJEEE."

Yes, UV Patel College of Engineering accepts JEE Main marks for taking admission in the BE/BTech courses. The college also accepts score from GUJCET exam for BTech admissions. Candidates have to undergo counselling and fill the application form of college.
