In 2025, there are around 26,168 MD seats available through NEET PG. For securing seat in these courses, students must appear in NEET PG and then participate in the counselling process. Eligibility For Best Specializations In MD After MBBS

If you want to pursue MD specializations in India, following are the eligibility criteria you need to fulfill:

  • You must have MBBS degree from and MCI recognized medical college.
  • Completed one year of compulsory internship after MBBS course.
  • Qualify in NEET PG or AIIMS INI CET entrance exams.
  • A minimum of 50% in the MBBS professional exams for the general category, and lower percentage required for SC/ST/OBC candidates.

Q:   I have a gap of 1 year. Can I still apply for INI CET exam?
A: 

Yes. One can apply for INI CET even if he/she has gap of one year. It must be noted there is no age limit for INI CET exam. Candidates who have completed MBBS course from recognised college/university and completed one year internship in the given deadline can appear for INI CET exam. 

Q:   Can I get INI CET centre of my choice?
A: 

You may or may not get INI CET centre of your choice. Candidates are asked to fill 3 test centre as per their preference. It must be noted candidates are allotted test centre on the basic of first cum first. That is the reason candidates are advised to fill application form for INI CET 2026 as early as possible. The choice of test cities made by applicant cannot be changed after submission of application form.

Q:   How many times can I take CET exam?
A: 

There is no capping on number of attempts for INI CET exam. At the same time there is no age limit. Candidates who meet the eligibility requirements can apply online for INI CET exam for admission into PG courses such as MD, MS, MDS etc. AIIMS releases INI CET application form online and candidates have to fill and submit it there only. No offline and other modes of application is accepted. It must be noted INI CET application process comprises basic and final registration. Candidates have to complete the basic registration first to proceed for the final registration. The exam is conducted bi anuallly in computer-based mode.

  • MD in General Medicine is an important field that trains doctors to handle wide range of complicated medical issues in clinics and hospitals. Doctors with this degree provides non surgical diagnosis, prevention and treatment of diseases.

Q:   I got 535 marks in NEET PG. Will I get government college?
A: 

500 plus marks is considered a decent score in NEET PG  exam. If a candidate score 535 marks that means his/her rank will be somewhere around 1000-2000. With that score, there is a chance to get admission in government college. Good score also depends on difficulty level of the question paper. If the question paper is difficult then cut off will be low. In 2023-24 session, general category cut off was 291 while the cut off for SC/ST was 257. Overall 500 plus marks will enable you to get admission in good college for PG course.

Q:   Can I get test city of my choice in NEET PG?
A: 

Candidates may or may not get test city of their choice in NEET PG. Though the exam conducting body tries to allot candidate the exam city of their preference but sometimes it is not possible as the allotment is done on first come first serve basis. The choice of city also depends on availability of the test centres in a particular city. It must be noted once allotted the test city can't be changed in any circumastances.

Q:   How many candidates appear for INI CET exam?
A: 

There is no official figure of total number of registrations for INI CET exam. Since 2020, number of candidates have been increasing for the exam. For 2024-25 session, around 60, 000 candidates appeared. As INI CET is one of the toughest exam in medical field, only few candidates qualify the exam and get desired college and course.
