Our college had good placements in 2016 and an excellent vibe.
Placements: In our college, almost 30% of students were placed. The highest salary package offered was 3 LPA. The lowest salary package offered was 1.5 LPA and the average salary package offered was 2.5 LPA. Top recruiting companies like Infosys, Wipro, Mindtree, UST Global, etc., visited our campus. Top roles offered in our course were system engineer, test engineer, etc.
Infrastructure: For our course, we had enough classrooms and other building facilities. For other departments, we had separate buildings so enough classrooms were available. Wi-Fi was limited to personal use. The speed was good. We had enough computer labs. Except for the final year, we had shared systems for two students. For final-year students, individual systems in labs were available. The hostel facilities were good. Good food was served in the hostel and the college canteen. However, the college hostel was 6 kilometers away from the main town. So if there was an emergency during the night, it was difficult to go home or outside.
Faculty: Teachers were helpful and had good knowledge of their subjects. The teaching was of high quality. This course was very relevant to current technologies. However, the curriculum had yet to be updated to ensure that students were industry-ready. Almost 60-70% of the syllabus was good for making students industry-ready. Semester exams were medium. The pass percentage was around 60%. In multiple attempts, around 90-95% of students passed the course. The campus surroundings were very good.
Other: I chose CSE because we had good job opportunities after we graduated from college. According to the faster growth of our IT world, the syllabus should be updated every 3 to 5 years. Technical events, and arts and sports meets were conducted regularly each year in full active mode. Most of the festivals were celebrated on campus. We could apply for all government-provided scholarships with the help of college authorities.

Overall, college life is good here.
Placements: Most of the students got placed in college. A lot of students get placement off-campus as well. We can also approach companies to offer on-campus placements. More IT companies come here to conduct placements than other core companies.
Infrastructure: The college infrastructure is good. The climate is nice. There are a total of 4 buildings. The main block is for CCF, office, principal office, and mechanical classes. One block is available for mechanical labs and faculty. Another block is for CS and IT. The last block is for ECE and EEE. We can reach all the buildings easily.
Faculty: Overall, the syllabus is not much tough. Most of the students pass all the exams. Major changes were made in the syllabus in the last few years. So it would be a different experience for students of different years. All the students need to think out of the box for placements.
Other: Lots of events are held by students. Every week, an event is held here.

A good or okay college that is worth the price.
Placements: During 2021-22, a total of 105 jobs were offered by Tier 1 companies like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, etc., to a maximum salary package of 4.6 LPA for the students of GEC Idukki. But be warned that, most companies that visit for placement are usually IT software companies. Mech, EE, or EC companies visit for placements very rarely. So, be prepared to do off-campus placements or look for a position in the software field.
Infrastructure: Personally, I would say the labs are good. Opinions may vary, but there is enough equipment for everyone (classes are divided into batches to ensure room). It might be old, but these will be replaced during lab exams. As for classrooms, each bench and desk can accommodate 3 to 4 students. The library allows you to borrow books for almost a month, and you can even renew them if you show them in person. I would say that English and Malayalam literary books are less, but study materials are overwhelming.
Faculty: It has nothing to do with the college, but the syllabus as a whole. Studying B.Tech will definitely not prepare you for the real world. With that being said, with respect to the teachers, it only depends. The government decides which teacher goes and stays for each semester and has different levels of expertise. They will cover most of the syllabus (or fully) but start to self-study early on. Good luck.
Other: The best thing about going to a government college is the value for money. While private colleges require lakhs of money, a government college will leave you with less tension on the money. You also have more freedom to do whatever you want (depending on your head of department).

It has good faculty, good placements in 2021, really good infrastructure and facilities.
Placements: Around 50% of students get placed every year. Basic salary packages lie between 3 to 4 Lacs per annum. Major recruiting companies are Infosys, Wipro, QBurst, 6D Technologies, TCS, UST, VVDN Tech etc. Most of the placements are offered in the software field.
Infrastructure: There are smart classrooms. Wi-Fi connection is available with 2mbps speed. A central library is available. There are laboratories for all subjects. Sports and games are a little low. Food is average. Medical facilities are available. Facilities and infrastructure are good.
Faculty: The teachers are helpful, qualified and knowledgeable. Almost all the faculty members teach well. The course curriculum is relevant. I am a first-year student, so I am not aware of the difficulty of semester exams.

It provided good placements in 2018-19. It is a good place to start your engineering studies.
Placements: The college has a good placement training cell which trains every student to improve their skills so as to get a good job. Top recruiting companies like TCS, QUEST, QBURST, Infosys, PruTech, UST Global, etc., visit the college for placements. The salary packages offered range from 3-8 LPA.
Infrastructure: The college has five main hostels that are hostel 1, hostel 2, ladies hostel, staff hostel, and c7 hostel. The quality of food available in the canteen is good. The campus has 2 Mbps broadband internet connection. The college library is in the process of expansion.
Faculty: Teachers in our college are well-qualified and experienced. The course curriculum is relevant, and it makes the student industry-ready. The difficulty level of the exams is medium, and students can score good marks with hard work and consistent learning. The pass percentage is less compared to other government engineering colleges.

Q:   Is the BTech Mechanical Engineering syllabus the same for all colleges?
ShikshaGPT says
A:

The BTech Mechanical Engineering syllabus is not the same across all colleges, as every college committee sets a particular coursework pattern at the start of every academic year to be followed for the respective batch. Q:   Are private sector BTech jobs better-paying than government jobs?
ShikshaGPT says
A:

Well, yes. The private sector BTech jobs in India offer a higher earning potential than the government sector jobs, including promotions, yearly bonuses, performance rewards, etc., along with a plethora of career options across different sectors. Having said that, there is less scope for job stability in the private sector due to market downturns.

The government sector is known for decent job security and other benefits like health insurance and retirement benefits. Rest, you can sit and decide for yourself whatever suits your interests the best. Best wishes.
