IIEST Shibpur: One of the oldest colleges.
Placements: The college placement is good here, with about 80 percent of the students getting placed. The Department of Computer Science and Technology got the highest package of around 53 LPA last year, and apart from that department, all got decent placements and good results.
Infrastructure: All courses in the college are good. There are 10 departments, including the Department of Architecture, all of which are good. Hostel facilities are also good, with 20 hostels providing accommodation for almost all year students, including 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th years.
Faculty: The faculty is very good. The college provides a strict curriculum for students, which helps them to perform extraordinarily. The schedule for exams is also fixed, and a good level of questions is being asked. Teachers are also helpful and supportive, which is very helpful for students.

Placements: Nearly, 80-90% get placed off-campus. The highest package offered was 39 LPA and the lowest was 4 LPA. Top recruiting companies are Google, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, Amazon, Netflix, Tata Steel, JSW, SAIL, etc. Top roles include Production Engineer, Operation Analyst, and Cost Estimator.
Infrastructure: There are a total of three hostels for first-year students at IIEST Shibpur. Hostel 8: This hostel is the oldest among the three. The mess food and sports facilities are better compared to the other two. Hostel 9: This hostel is slightly similar to Hostel 8. Hostel 10: This is a newly built hostel, and its infrastructure is much better in comparison to the others.
Faculty: Professors and staff are very helpful and supportive. All are well-qualified and experts in their fields. Academics are slightly harder than in other NITs. The semester examination is divided into two parts: 1. Mid-semester examination 2. End-semester examination. The mid-sem is easier than the end-sem.
Other: I chose this course because the Metallurgy and Materials Department at the Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur, is the second oldest metallurgy department in India. Placements are very good, with top recruiters such as SAIL, JSW, and Tata Steel.

Infrastructure: Faculty members are very good. Infrastructure is of good level. In our hostel, food quality is very good, and sports things are available. Canteen food is really good. Medical facilities are good. Game facilities like chess, football, and volleyball are available. Canteens’ food is excellent .

The pass percentage is 40%. The pass mark is 40 out of 100. Teachers help one pass the exam and achieve a good CGPA.
Other: This course is helpful in higher studies. There are many opportunities in this course, like Tata Steel, Tata Power, Aditya Birla, and many more companies hire in this branch.

Satisfactory performance by IIEST, SHIBPUR.
Placements: From my course, 81% of students are placed in 2023, and this year the number increases to 84%. The highest salary this year is about 15 LPA, the lowest is about 4 LPA, and the average package is 7 LPA. Top recruiters are JSW, Aditya Birla group, L&T, etc.
Infrastructure: The faculty members of our department are quite great. The infrastructure should be improved, and the Wi-Fi facilities are available on campus. There is a library on our campus that is called Ramanujan Central Library; the quality of the food in the mess is moderate; there is a hospital on our campus; and there are many clubs for sports and games.
Faculty: All the teachers are highly qualified; they have passed out from prestigious institutions like IIT, IIM, and many other colleges; they are very helpful. This course is very relevant because the use of quality materials is very important. The semester exams are quite difficult, and the pass percentage is 40% in each subject.

Absolutely satisfied because of the campus.
Placements: In my course, around 90% of students are placed. Some top companies come to us for placements and good packages. The highest is around INR 50 lpa, and the least is around INR 4 lpa. But the average is around INR 6 lpa. Internships are also good and some students are getting good internships.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is a bit old, as our college is the second-oldest college in India. All the buildings were of British time. Wi-Fi will be good. The library is excellent. Labs are also a bit old. Computer labs are fine; they are very good but the labs for the core will be a bit different.
Faculty: The faculty will be very helpful to us, as they want to see us grow. My course curriculum is very relevant and it makes students industry-ready. Also, exams are a bit difficult to write. Pass percentage is 40% in our college. I. e you have to get 40 out of 100.

Good infrastructure/campus with good placement. Really worth it.
Placements: According to the data for 2022, 82% of students were placed. INR 11.89 LPA was the highest, INR 7.8 LPA was the average, and INR 3.6 LPA was the lowest package offered in my course. Tata, Adani Group, Jindal Stainless Ltd., etc. are the top recruiting companies that offer more than INR 8 LPAs.
Infrastructure: Many well-maintained machines, neat and clean labs, and classrooms big classroom with a strength of 60–70 students. We have a library with a variety of books. Our hostel provides us with Wi-Fi facilities, but with decent speed. Mess food qualities are not that good in tests, but they are hygienic. We have a hospital on our campus. Sports like football, cricket, basketball, volleyball, etc. are played. We have separate fields for each sport.
Faculty: All faculty members are highly qualified and knowledgeable. Most of the teachers are helpful, but as all fingers are not the same, there are also a few teachers who are not helping students. Yes, this course curriculum is enough to make the student industry ready, but it depends on the student how he grabs this opportunity.
Other: When I get this branch (metallurgy and material engineering), I am not happy. But when I came here to meet with seniors and faculty, they told me about the beauty of this branch and the opportunity for a career option. I felt this was a good choice. Regarding campus, I can only say one thing: there are trees all around us.

It is a good college to pursue engineering.
Placements: Around 80-90% of students get placed in their respective companies. The highest salary package offered in our course is 12 LPA, the lowest salary package is 3.5 LPA, and the average salary package is 8.5 LPA. The recruiting companies are Tata Metallics, Tata Steel, Vedanta, JSW Steel, etc. Around 60-70% of students get internships if they have done some research work.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is average. Hostel allots 3 students in each room in the first and second years and from the third year, single rooms are provided. Hostels are Wi-Fi enabled. Library is a two-floored building and is well-maintained with books. Mess food is average. Our college has two playgrounds, a basketball, and a volleyball court. It has a hospital for emergencies.
Faculty: Faculty members in our college are the same as other NITs. They are good, friendly, helpful, and well-qualified. They provide proper industry guidance to students. The difficulty of exams is medium. Students must study a minimum of two to three weeks before exams to pass with a good CGPA.
