Good regarding placements and teaching quality, only for study purpose but not for the fest.
Placements: 70% of students got placed. The highest package is 65 LPA, the lowest is 7 LPA, and the average is 16 LPA. Wipro, Nvidia, and many local companies. 80% of students got their internship; if interested, they can go to Germany for companies like BMW, Volvo, Ferrari, etc.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is very stable, and labs and lab teachers are very good, and classrooms are also good. I love the library atmosphere. Quality of facilities in the hostel is good, but the old infrastructure and the washing machine are available, and a water purifier, medical facilities are also good. Sports are also good.
Faculty: Good standard of faculty and helpful teachers, who are qualified and have also studied in IITs and NITs. The good standard teaching quality was amazing. I love the teaching. The course curriculum is relevant to the academic standard and makes students industry-ready. Exams are very difficult, and the pass percentage is 40%.
Other: I love mechanical, and the institute has great machines for labs. I wish the tenure of labs to be more because time is insufficient. Events and festivities will be good, and the great crowd will be more, connectivity is more, and people from every state are present on the campus. But campus surroundings are not good, with many small roads and not enough transport from the railway station to the college. Good scholarship schemes are present in the college, and more extracurricular activities like Robo Darshan and others.

Being an IIESTian – through my journey.
Placements: Placement statistics of my department (Mechanical Engineering) UG 2025 at IIEST Shibpur. The percentage of students placed is 88.7%. The highest package is 20.00 LPA, the lowest package is 3.3 LPA, and the average package is 7.19 LPA. Top recruiting companies are TCS, PWC, Tata Hitachi, Linde, and Aditya Birla Group. The top roles offered are in the automotive, manufacturing, and consultancy sectors.
Infrastructure: In my department, there is no Wi-Fi in classrooms. However, it is available in the library. As IIEST Shibpur is the second oldest engineering college in India, the infrastructure is old but good. Classrooms are very clean and neat, with a good number of fans and lights available. To be frank, the quality of food and water in the hostel is poor. Medical facilities are limited to minor issues, but a health card is provided. All sports and games facilities are available with a good number of opportunities.
Faculty: I strongly say that teachers here are really helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable. The teaching quality is the best. The course curriculum is relevant and makes students industry-ready. The difficulty of semester exams is average to difficult, and the pass percentage is around 90–93%.
Other: If you are interested in mechanical research studies, then this is the best option for you because IIEST Shibpur is excellent for research and has a strong alumni network. The old infrastructure needs to be replaced with new infrastructure. Regarding events and fests, many events and competitions take place, attracting a huge crowd. I do not know about scholarships as my annual income is high. Many extracurricular activities are also available, such as NCC.

IIEST Shibpur is worth it or not.
Placements: I am a student from the department of mechanical engineering (currently in 1st year). Placement statistics for the 2025 passing-out batch. Placement percentage of students is 70.93%. The highest package offered is 21.64 LPA, the lowest package is 3.3 LPA, and the average package is 7.84 LPA. Top recruiters include Google, Microsoft, Tata Steel, and Vedant. Top roles offered are automotive, steel, and analytics.
Infrastructure: In first-year classrooms good number of fans and lights are there. They are also very clean and neat but there is no Wi-Fi connection. Labs are also nice. Our hostel buildings are too old, infrastructure is not that good at hostel. Wi-Fi connection is there with good speed. Mess food is decent. Three canteens are there on our campus. Medical facilities are not available (except for everyday and small problems) but they provide health cards. All sports and games facilities are available and good.
Faculty: In this college teachers are knowledgeable and helpful. Their teaching quality is nice. In first year all students have to study basics of all departments so I don't know that much about course curriculum but as per my knowledge our college curriculum is good. Semester exams difficult level is moderate to difficult, and pass percentage is around 80%-85%.
Other: After JEE selection is the main task, I have done so much research on many NITs and IITs but for my rank, this college and department is the best option. College fees are less. Department with a good curriculum. College with the best NIRF rank. It is near the city, of Kolkata. All facilities are available inside the campus or just near campus like ATM, banks, railway stations, airports, and hospitals. In our college, technical fest is Instruo and the annual cultural fest is Rebeca. Rebeca is an event of 4days with a full crowd on the campus full of light. A scholarship is there for college students called GAABESU which is provided to alumni.

Strong placements, great facilities, and vibrant campus life are available at IIEST Shibpur.
Placements: Around 85% of Mechanical Engineering students at IIEST Shibpur get placed. The highest salary package offered is 15 LPA and the lowest salary package offered is 8.7 LPA. Top recruiting companies like PwC, Tata Steel, and Vedanta Oil visit the college to hire students. About 30% of students secured internships, including at IITs and IISc. Roles offered are span analytics and core mechanical engineering.
Infrastructure: Facilities at IIEST Shibpur for B.Tech include Wi-Fi-enabled classrooms, well-equipped labs, and a vast library with physical and digital resources. Hostels provide basic amenities with moderate cleanliness. The mess offers decent food, and the canteen has additional snacks. It provides sports facilities like grounds for cricket, football, and courts for badminton. Medical care is available through an on-campus dispensary.
Faculty: Teachers at IIEST Shibpur are knowledgeable and qualified. They are often helpful when approached. Their teaching quality varies, but it is generally good. The course curriculum is industry-relevant, covering core concepts and practical skills. Semester exams are moderately difficult, testing understanding rather than written learning. The pass percentage is typically high, and it is above 85%.
Other: I chose this course to pursue a career in engineering, driven by an interest in problem-solving and technology. The best aspects include a strong curriculum, hands-on experience, and exposure to various engineering fields. Improvements could be made in more industry tie-ups for internships and better practical training. The campus organises vibrant events and fests, offering opportunities for cultural and technical engagement. The campus crowd is diverse, fostering a collaborative environment. Connectivity is good, with access to nearby transport. Surroundings are peaceful and ideal for studying. Scholarships are available for eligible students. Extracurricular activities are also encouraged here.

Good campus life and exposure. Old infrastructure but enough. Good placements and faculty.
Placements: 85% of students were placed last year. The highest package was 22 LPA in Mechanical. Top recruiters were JSW, JSL, Tata Motors, ICICI Bank, Haldia Petrochemicals, PwC, etc. Roles offered are mostly those of Graduate Engineer Trainee. Many students prefer to take jobs in tech, but many prefer to take jobs in core companies. Everyone gets an internship through the DTPC of the college.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is of good speed, and the library is very good, but there is no AC. Canteen facilities are very good, and you will get multiple canteens. Sports facilities are good, especially for cricket, volleyball, football, table tennis, and basketball. You can be a member of the institute team and participate in inter-NIT events if you are a good player. Labs are also more than enough. The infrastructure is old but sufficient.
Faculty: Teachers are highly qualified, but only some teachers teach well. Every professor has something unique to teach you other than studies. Some teachers have a personality that will teach you how to enjoy life, and some show you the importance of seriousness in life. Overall, the faculty is nice, but don't compare their classes to YouTube tutorials. The course does not actually make you industry-ready, but when you complete it, you get enough knowledge that you can become industry-ready in the 6-month training period of the job offered to you. Exams are tough.

My honest review regarding IIEST SHIBPUR.
Placements: The maximum number of students are placed in our college, and the remaining students pursue their Master's. The highest package for the Mechanical Engineering department is 1 crore, which is an off-campus placement, and the average package is 12 LPA. Top recruiting companies for our college include Microsoft, Google, Tata, Ford, and many more companies that visit for placement drives. Many students also secure internships from the third year.
Infrastructure: Since the college was established in 1856, the infrastructure is quite old and not up to the mark. Many buildings need to be renovated and repaired. For first-year students, all classes take place in the same building. There is a central library for all students on campus. Each classroom is equipped with a blackboard, and there is a digital board used for teaching as well.
Faculty: Most of the faculty members for the first year are Ph.D. scholars, and they are experts in their respective subjects. Our teachers' teaching and explanations are really good. Yes, our course is the same across the country, and it is industry-based. The semester exams in our college are really difficult if you haven't practiced. The pass marks for each subject are at least 40, and you need to score a minimum of 40 marks to pass the exam.

My college days and campus life.
Placements: I am in Mechanical Engineering and more than 80% of students get placed every year in this course of B.Tech. The highest salary package was around 60 LPM and the lowest salary package was around 8 LPA. More than 70% of the students get internships.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is more than average in our course, and department infrastructure is also good. But internet facility in our department is poor, but Wi-Fi is available. Quality and facilities of a hostel have always been average.
Faculty: Faculty members and professors are helpful, highly qualified, and knowledgeable. Teaching quality is good for some professors, but for others, it can be a bit hard to understand. Semester exams are difficult but can be passed with hard work.
Other: I chose this course because I like it and have an interest in machines. The best part is gaining practical knowledge here. Many events and fests happen throughout the year.

My college has a rich heritage, satisfied faculty, above-average placements and nice infrastructure.
Placements: Placement percentage is nearly 80%. Top recruiting companies are PWC, Saint-Gobain, Tata Steel, Maruti Suzuki, L&T, HSBC, Accenture, etc. Top roles include automobile, manufacturing, and consultancy. The highest salary package offered was 22 LPA and the average salary offered was 10 LPA. Nearly 80%-85% of students got internships.
Infrastructure: We have very good labs and classrooms. Wi-Fi works smoothly. We have a huge library with reading rooms. Hostels are decent, with laundry facilities on each floor. There is Wi-Fi on each floor, which is pretty fast. Mess food is okay. We have four canteens and a hospital.
Faculty: Faculty members are helpful. All of them hold PhDs from very reputable institutes and have rich profiles. Teaching quality is good, and we can also work on projects under them. Course curriculum is decent, and the college is working to modernize it. Curriculum makes students industry-ready, as we have opportunities for industry visits, internships, and workshops. Semester exams are medium, and the pass percentage is on the higher side.
Other: I found interest in my course, which is also a very old course at the college, so it carries a legacy. Our seniors are helpful, and we have a very strong alumni base. More the course curriculum is modernised, the better it will be. We have India's oldest cultural fest, Rebeca. Additionally, all departments have their technical fests, where the events are very attractive. At each fest, we also have industry-academia meets, giving us the chance to interact with industry officials. Campus surroundings are good, with two markets nearby, and all banks and ATMs are easily accessible. For extracurricular activities, we have a total of 17 clubs. We also have a fee waiver scheme and, apart from that, we also have GABBESU scholarship.

It is not an NIT and IIIT, though. It can be said a GFTI as it was opened prior to Independence by government funds and a few organizations of Bengal. Moreover, this institute is considered as an institute of national importance and it is mentor institute of IIIT-Kolkata.
