It is one of the best colleges for engineering in Kolkata.

Placements: From the 4th year of the B.Tech course, students are eligible for placements. In 3rd year, students are almost eligible for internships too. Nearly 100% of the students who sit for the placements get placed. The average package would be around 8-10 LPA. I'm planning to get a master's degree.

Infrastructure: It is the 2nd oldest college in India, and here, you not only enjoy college life but also get to relive the British era. With 2 large playgrounds, a swimming pool, various hostels to choose from, and a library with almost all books and medical facilities, this university is a city within itself.

Faculty: It focuses on not only engineering aspects but also makes you ready for every other challenge as well. The mentors are equally supportive and in times of any help, reaching them out without any hesitation is what is the most impressive thing. The professors are too much experienced and much more dedicated towards their work.

Other: Since it is the second oldest college in India, it is all about greenery and space. The only institute to have lakes within the campus, a graveyard and Ganges. It is close to every possible location in Kolkata.

I am not satisfied with teaching quality and placement results. I am satisfied with campus life.

Placements: In our department, almost 70% of the students got placed by the end of the final year. The highest salary package offered was 40 LPA by Microsoft IDE, and the lowest salary package offered was about 3 LPA by mass recruitment companies. The average salary package offered was around 6 LPA. Microsoft offered the salary package of 40 LPA, PWC offered the salary package of 8.5 LPA, ZS Associates and Capgemini offered the salary package of 6 LPA, TCS Digital offered the salary package of 8 LPA, Tata Bluescope offered the salary package of 8 LPA, Directi offered the salary package of 14 LPA, etc. About 30-40% of the students got an internship from college in companies like PWC, Microsoft, Tata, Direct, etc.

Infrastructure: Labs are well-equipped with high-speed systems and LAN. Wi-Fi connections are available in each department which includes one for the whole campus which students can connect from anywhere from the campus. Hostels have their own Wi-Fi connections for each floor. The institute has a separate building for a library containing volumes of both technical and other subjects like arts, social sciences, journals and novels. Residential areas are well-maintained, but students need to maintain it on a personal level. Food available in the hostels is average, but the single-roomed residence for 3rd and mainly 4th-year students named Hall offer a much better quality of food. The menu is decided by the boarders. The college has a general hospital previously named Heaton Hall that houses a 24-hours of medical services. But it is recommended to consult from doctors outside the campus unless and until very urgent. The college offers a variety of games like football, cricket, basketball, badminton, table tennis, swimming, gymnasium and many other indoor games. There are two lush green grounds named Lords and Oval.

Faculty: Professors were all highly qualified, and most of them have completed their doctorates. They were knowledgeable, but some of them were not able to make students understand the subject. The course gives all the basics and knowledge needed to further students' career in any branch. Although throughout the college years self-study and practising coding are much suggested.

Other: I have chosen this course mainly choosing the professors as most of them had PhDs. I think the coding environment needs to improve on the campus with active participation from both students and teachers. Campus life is amazing in IIEST. It has two major ponds, few minor ponds and boasts of temperate weather throughout the year. The campus has a multitude of clubs for photography, singing, dancing, music, sports, etc. Clubs organise their annual fests, namely Tech fest named Instruo, musical fest named Oikotaan, etc. The institute also hosts the largest students cultural fest in the city, that is celebrated for 4 days like the traditional Durga Puja.
