Review of National Institute Of Technology Durgapur.
Placements: Placements are the best part of our college. Major Recruiters are Amazon, Microsoft, Oracle, Samsung and many more. The median salary package offered is around 7 LPA. According to 2018, the department with the highest placements is the IT department with almost 90% placement rate.
Infrastructure: The college is well-equipped with labs that will fulfil all the requirements of future engineers. Although NIT Durgapur is ignorant about its hostels, the food served in the mess is average or low standard. Hostel buildings are 60-year-old buildings. The campus has an average size compared to the IITs and a huge one if compared with any private college.
Faculty: The course curriculum is on point, but it may seem discrepant to young students. However, time teaches a lot. Professors are well qualified and have immense knowledge about the subjects they are teaching. But some of them are better than the rest.
Other: Every fest, event, and activity organised in our college are average. There are a lot of events though, and I can't provide much information about them as I haven't attended 70% of them.

Sanjiv' word on NIT DURGAPUR.
Placements: Year we are breaking placement records. Our year saw a huge upsurge in the placements. Next year it was even better. Almost 50% of the folks had two jobs in hand. And apart from that we saw a huge number of unconventional companies from domains like marketing, management, startups from various sectors like health insurance online education and NGOs.
Infrastructure: One of best infra in east india. Biggest library in terms of number of books. Lot of departments covering all verticals of engineering. Management studies, BCA MCA and M.Tech courses are also well renowned. One can notice a large number of Ph.D. students that shows the quality of teachers and innovative environment we have.
Faculty: One of the best faculty line here. Lot of lab officials are also there. Best thing is the number of different labs ranging to various departments. Including high voltage laboratory which one of a kind in india. New infra is in progress. Course review is done here periodically.
Other: This college might have the highest number of art and tech clubs in india.

Placements were good in 2018, and the infrastructure of the college is good.
Placements: The college has a good placement rate. They provide almost 100% placements for the students of IT and CS branches. More than half of the crowd get placed from other departments, as the rest opt for further studies. More than 200 companies offering salary packages ranging from 7 LPA to 40 LPA visited the campus. Overall, the placements in NIT Durgapur are excellent.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of NIT, Durgapur has extremely developed in recent years. Now, we have well-concrete buildings for hostels and main academic building. Huge senate rooms are available for conferences. Hostels are well-maintained. Overall, the infrastructure of our college is good.
Faculty: Teachers in our college aren't highly qualified. The faculty to student ratio is very low. They follow very old methods of teaching. They use the books of old edition and presentations to teach. I didn't get any industry exposure in our college. The course curriculum is not that useful.
Other: Many events are conducted throughout the year. The college organises 3 fests. Surroundings of the campus are wonderful.

The placements and infrastructure of the college are good.
Placements: The current placement session has been very good as many technical companies have offered great placement offers to many students. Only a few companies have visited for core branches, but usually, core companies visit the college a bit late. Microsoft has offered jobs to 11 students from our campus out of which 9 students were offered a salary package of 39 LPA.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of new hostels is like a hotel, but the old hostel buildings are not much good. The academic building is very beautiful, but classes are held only for 1st-year students. Later on, the students are moved to their respective branches. Classrooms of the chemical branch are completely air-conditioned. We have two sports grounds on the campus.
Faculty: Most of the teaching staff are from Bengal, and there is no diversity. They are biased towards the students who are from Bengal or speak Bengali. The quality of teaching is good. The course of the first year comprises elementary science like physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics, values and ethics, electronics, electrical, and C programming language. So, students have a chance to strengthen their weak points which might be useful in their department.
Other: The college conducts 4-5 events, but they are not as good as they used to be. There was no DJ night last year. Girls have to return to their hostel by 10:30 pm even during the fest. Durgapur city doesn't have much to offer. There are only a few places to hang out.

Road to Heaven, as Its is Heaven for me.
Placements: Placements were all good in my batch and senior batches also. About 80% of the students got placed this year with a average of 7lpa salary. The highest salary offered Was of 22lpa and minimum being about 5.2lpa. About 40% of the students has got internship. There is a placement cell and has its member. They works efficiently.
Infrastructure: It is a huge campus over 10 acres of land. It contains Every facility that a student aspire to study in B.Tech. It has hostel both of Indian students and for outside India students. Its has playgrounds too. Departmental classroom and library are also well infrastured.
Faculty: Faculty are really good and helpful. They do doubt clearing sessions and are easily to be talked and clear the doubt. They also encourage to study more to cravk GATE or MBA examination or study abroad. Many degree are taught here both in B.Tech and M.Tech level like CSE, ME, EE, ECE, IT, BT, CIVIL, Chemical, metallurgy.
Other: Departmental freshers and 2 Fest along with tech fest is organised and Fest is done by GYMKHANA.

Awesome in every aspect except faculty.
Placements: Around 70% of people do get placed. A lot of companies ranging from big companies as amazon and direct to the obvious mass recruiters as tcs visit the campus on regular basis. Most of the companies eo offer internship opportunities, but if they take students or not for internships is completely based on how every batch performs. Placement salary packages range from as high aas 27lpa to as less as 3.14 LPA. Our placement cell is very cooperative and we can have all kind roles as in tech, finance or basic management. I would rate our placement activities 9/10.
Infrastructure: Being a government college we do not excel at this point. We have good internet connection in campus. But that is the only 'great' thing. Labs are small, they use out-dated ubuntu 12.04 and windows xp in some labs. Some labs we are not allowed our own laptops. Non tech related labs are outside and have to walk a bit from the academic section aand are usually hot in summers. Medical facilities cannot be trusted in college. I personally prefer going to a private doctor. Sports are highly encouraged and we have a good playground for cricket, football, basketball, volleyball, tennis and tabletennis and gym facilities are also available. Library comprises of old books but is rather peaceful to study and does have a good internet connection. Hostel rooms are the worst. Very old buildings and beds, all that is undergoing a change, so we can expect something better in upcoming few years.
Faculty: It is the usual scenario where some professors are better than others, we have smart classes but only CS and it department uses it. The course curriculum is well laid out but to study those, we prefer going through youtube or courseera more. Some professors have a real baad attitude and try to exploit their power. But not every faculty is that way. But this is also a matter of perspective.
Other: We have a lot of cultural and technical fests all around the year with people from other colleges participating as well. Living in this college gives you a lot of freedom with less restrictions (to be taken in a positive mamner). Seniors are very interactive and help us in every way possible. Our student bidy is on verge of extinction but still the unity among the students never fail.

Satisfied with college infrastructure, placements and faculty but dissatisfied with the food.
Placements: Almost, 89 percent of my seniors were placed when I was in the first year, and now I'm in the second year, in this year, out of 90 students 70 students are placed, and the placement record was excellent. This year the highest salary was about 30 LPA and least was 3 LPA, and there is placement cell for every department over here.
Infrastructure: I won't say that infrastructure is excellent but day by day infrastructure is improving. We don't have Wi-Fi in our first year now we have high-speed Wi-Fi all around the campus. The classrooms were a little bit conjested last year, but it was very free this year, and in every aspect, the college is going on improving.
Faculty: The professors who are teaching here are helpful, and they are highly qualified and knowledgeable. Their teaching quality is very good. The ratio of teacher and student is quite satisfactory, and they make us exposed to the industry. They are quite helpful for all of us, and they train us very well.
Other: All are going well on this campus. Ragging was not allowed in this college anymore.

Good for IT and CS branches.
Placements: The placement scenario at NIT Durgapur is generally good. For CS IT and ECE branches, the placement rate is >80%. The highest package was 30 LPA from DE Shaw and average package for IT branch was around 6.5 LPA. As far as Electrical, Mechanical and Civil Engineering is concerned, you will get rewarded if you work hard but a number of companies is limited. However, branches such as Biotechnology and Metallurgy have a really bad job rate.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi - Not available at most places. However, LAN is there at most places. Classroom and Library - Average. Classes and Library both have basic facilities but still, the infrastructure is too old for 2018. Medical Facilities - Horrible. Most doctors and nurses in the on-campus hospital are very unprofessional and do not look very skilled. Sports - Decent. You will have a chance to represent your college at the National level if you are good enough. Hostel - Very Bad. However, construction of new modern hostels is in progress and should be complete soon.
Faculty: If you look at achievements, then most professors are very qualified, but hardly any of them are 'good teachers'. Just like in most IITs and NITs, the professors do not know the basic art of teaching and you would have to self-study mostly. As earlier mentioned, the classroom infrastructure is very old and classes are overcrowded. Student to faculty ratio is poor. On-campus internships are rare but you will find an internship outside with the 'NIT' tag. The course curriculum is mostly old.
Other: Events and Fests - 4/5, very good indeed. Most of the times something is going around in the campus and the annual cultural fest 'Recstacy' is something of a life experience. There are places like Darjeeling and Sikkim for vacations nearby. Scholarships are available for financially weak/SC-ST students.
