PhD admission at IIT Gandhinagar is subject to a written test and/ or interview conducted by the institute. Admissions to PhD at IIT Gandhinagar generally opens up toward the beginning and end of each academic year. In addition to the announced admission cycles with a prescribed deadline of application, the institute also considers applications for any time of the year for exceptional candidates. Based on the qualifications of the candidates and the need of the specialisation, applications received are processed via duly constituted selection committees at regular intervals. IIT Gandhinagar admission process is entirely based on the selection of candidates via popular entrance exams such as JEE Advanced and GATE, etc., for courses such as BTech and MTech, respectively. Further, IIT Gandhinagar conducts an institute-level test for the selection MA and PhD courses. No, candidates seeking admisison must have a valid score in IIT JAM exam and not GATE. GATE is the accepted exam for admission to M.Tech at IIT Gandhinagar. The institute also offers an Early Admit MSc, the eligibility criteria for that is as follows:
