B.Sc. in Nuclear Medicine Technology 

at JIPMER, Pondicherry

For admission to JIPMER BSc in Nursing course, aspirants must be Class 12 pass with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/ Botany & Zoology, and English as one of the subjects. The qualifying exam should have been passed with at least 50% aggregate (40% aggregate for SC/ST/OBC; 45% aggregate for PwD category candidates). Moreover, the applicants age at the time of admission should be at least 17 years, or candidate must turn 17 on or before December 31 of the year of admission. There is not upper age limit.

Furthermore, candidates seeking admission must hold the relevant documents as well. These are required for verification purposes by the institute.

JIPMER Puducherry BSc in Nuclear Medicine Technology curriculum is inclusive of theory and practical subjects. The topics covered in the programme shall help students in the work field and in understanding the core topics. Some of the subjects/topics taught during the UG course are:

• Introduction to National Healthcare System
• Introduction to Quality and Patient Safety
• Research Methodology and Biostatistics
• Anatomy and Physiology
• Preparatory Concepts in Nuclear Medicine, etc.

With BSc degree you are eligible for majority of non technical posts in Government (Central, State, PSU, Banks etc) where eligibility criterion is graduation degree. Beside this you may able to get job of technician, lab assistant in Scientific R&D organisation. You are also eligible to do BEd and take school teacher job. In order to have better career growth you will have to do post graduation.

JIPMER Puducherry admit candidates to its BSc courses on the basis of merit in the NEET exam. Some of the seats are reserved for the students who are residents of Pondicherry. However, the remaining seats are open for admission to candidates across the country. Hence, you can get admission even if you are not from Pondicherry. 

Indeed, JIPMER holds entrance exams for its courses, covering UG, PG, Diploma, and certificate programs. Starting from 2023, MBBS admissions follow NEET with JIPMER's counseling. Meanwhile, other courses maintain JIPMER's entrance exams, and details are on their official website.

JIPMER BSc admission is entrance-based. Candidates are shortlisted and admission is offered based on NEET scores. However, there are some specialisations, in which the admission can be granted on merit-basis. Candidates who are Class 12 pass with PCM/Biology and English as a subject with at least 50% aggregate (for general candidates) can apply. The aspirants must meet the age limit as well. Candidates fulfilling the eligibility requirements can apply for admission by completing the application form.
