JIS College of Engineering has been one of the top institutes in the state of West Bengal. Currently, it has been ranked second after IIT Kharagpur in the NIRF Rankings for Innovation, and these two institutions are the only ones in the state to get that ranking. It has also built a new AICTE IDEA Lab on its campus, which is the third IDEA Lab in the state. With its amazing industry partnerships, it has built the lab for industrial production and will sustain the lab in the upcoming years. JEE Main is conducted in two sessions each year, with session 2 usually held in April. For the current cycle, NTA had announced the JEE Main Session 2 exam dates, and the exams for Paper 1 (BTech) were conducted on April 2, 3, 4, 7, and 8. The registration for session 2 is now closed. Now, prospective candidates should wait for the announcement of JEE Mains dates for the academic batch of 2026.

Admission to a majority of courses offered by JIS College of Engineering is entrance-based. Apart from JEE Main, GATE and MAT, candidates can also appear for WBJEE, JEMAT, WBUT PGET and CEE AMPAI for admission to UG and PG courses offered by JISCE.

JET (JIS University Entrance Exam): Candidates should have passed the 10+2 examination from a recognised Central or State Board or its equivalent with minimum 50%* marks. Under Graduate Aptitude Test (UGAT) qualified candidates can directly apply for GD/PI.

As per the official website of the JIS College of Engineering, requests for deferrals are not granted automatically. The application needs to be submitted along with reason of deferral. WBJEE Counselling 2025 was conducted in two rounds, namely Round 1 and Round 2, followed by the Defence quota counselling. 

Yes, JIS College of Engineering accepts Joint Entrance Examination for Bachelor of Technology admission. In addition to Joint Entrance Examination, students can also qualify for admission with a valid score in WB-JEE or CEE AMPAI exams. To be eligible for admission, students must secure 45 percent in 10+2 in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. The merit list is prepared by MAKAUT for admission to the Bachelor of Technology program.
