NIT Srinagar - National Institute of Technology Admission 2026: Cutoff, Fees, Eligibility & Application

So far, NIT Srinagar has not released any last date of admissions. Students can apply as long as the admission window is open. The institute will post the admission dates at its main page after the admissions start. 

NIT Srinagar offers selective seats for its programmes. To get admission, students have to go through the counselling process. The intake is as below:

NIT Srinagar CCMN cutoff 2025 has been released for admission to MSc specialisations. Round 1 of the cutoff has been released. The cutoff for the General AI category candidates varied between 1431 and 1788. Among the OBC AI category, the ranks varied between 1879 and 2266. NIT Srinagar SC category cutoff for MSc were between 3775 and 4850. For the ST AI category, the rank was 6647 for MSc in Mathematics. For the EWS category candidates, the range of cutoff was between 1790 and 2492. 

NIT Srinagar course admission is entrance-based. For admission to its BTech programme National Institute of Technology Srinagar accepts the JEE Main scores followed by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counselling. For admission to its MSc and M.Tech programmes, NIT Srinagar accepts the IIT JAM and GATE scores, respectively. Furthermore, the National Institute of Technology Srinagar accepts national-level and state-level entrance exams such as CAT,  MAT, and CMAT for admission to its MBA programme.

NIT Srinagar offers a large diversity of courses to students in various fields. NIT Srinagar admissions are held on the basis of entrance tests. Students seeking course admissions must clear their previous qualifying examination and appear for any of the prescribed entrance exams such as JEE Main, CAT, MAT, GATE, among others. Admission to M.Tech programme is done basis GATE score ad CCMT Counselling.

Admission to the MSc programme at NIT Srinagar is done basis IIT JAM score and CCMN Counselling.

NIT Srinagar GATE cutoff 2023 was ranged between 353 and 439, among which Mechanical System Design was the most competitive one considering its closing rank. For Mechanical System Design, the Round 1 and the Last Round closing rank stood at 353 for the General All India category candidates.

No, the BTech fees at NIT Srinagar remains the same across all specialisations. The NIT Srinagar BTech fees structure also remains the same between the same specialisations. All NIT Srinagar fees is either charged on per semester basis or are one-time payments.

NIT Srinagar is yet to announce the PhD course fees for the academic year 2026. In the previous year, the course fees stood INR 1.54 Lacs for the general category students of NIT Srinagar PhD.

For candidates in the SC, ST, PwD categories, the PhD course fees at NIT Srinagar stoodat INR 94,900.

Only the caution deposit paid at the time of admissions by a candidates is refundable at NIT Srinagar. The remaining fees is not refunded to the candidates by NIT Srinagar under any circumstances.

To be eligible for the caution deposit refund, candidates need to complete the PhD course curriculum.

The documents required for NIT Srinagar PhD admission process must be presented by candidates in person during the personal interview round. These documents include the following:

• Class 10th and Class 12th marksheet as well as passing certificate
• Graduation degree
• Post graduation degree
• GATE/UGC NET scorecard
• No Objection Certificate
• Passport sized photographs
• ID and address proof

For sponsored or full-time working candidates for NIT Srinagar PhD admissions, it is mandatory to have a work experience of two years with their current employer to be eligible for PhD admissions.

However, candidates from other categories do not have such eligibility requirements for NIT Srinagar PhD admissions.

NIT Srinagar cutoff 2025 has been released for the third round. For candidates seeking admission to the college via JEE Main, it is neccessary to obtain a rank as per the category-wise cutoff list. The cutoff among the General AI category, the cutoff ranks varied between 536 and 18007. Therefore, candidates belonging to the General AI category must obtain a score of 18007 or less to get admission to the college.

No, the 2026 admissions for NIT Srinagar PhD are yet to be opened. The institute schedules the application window for NIT Srinagar PhD admissions between the months of June and July.

The results of the NIT Srinagar PhD admission process are revealed during the month of August and September.

The national level NIT Srinagar entrance exam for PhD admissions has not been scheduled for the academic year 2026. Usually, the aforementioned entrance exam is scheduled near the end of July each year.

The results for the same are announced in the month of August. 

There is no mention of NIT Srinagar PhD admissions being open for candidates who are yet to receive their final scorecard. Generally, PhD admissions are not open to candidates who cannot produce their final marksheet and degree at the time of admissions.

Hence, candidates should assume that they cannot apply for NIT Srinagar PhD courses without their final exam scorecard.

No, candidates who wish to get admissions into the PhD course at NIT Srinagar are required to appear for one of the accepted entrance exams. After qualifying in the entrance exam, the institute further evaluates candidates through a written test as well as personal interview round.

NIT Srinagar BTech fee is cumulative of multiple components, such as security deposit, tuition fee, etc. Some of these components are one-time chargeable, while some have to be paid annually/semesterly. NIT Srinagar BTech fees is not refundable under any circumstances. This applies to all fee components except the caution deposit which is refunded upon the completion of the BTech fees without any interest.

Candidates can only get refunds if they choose to cancel their admissions during the JoSAA counseling rounds.
