It is necessary for all MTech course aspirants to fulfil the eligibility requirements. Candidates with a valid BE/BTech degree from a recognised university are eligible. In addition, the aspirant must have secured at least 60% aggregate in the degree course to become eligible for admission. NITJ offers MTech programmes in 18 specialisations. The multiple specialisations in which the course is available are Computer Science & Engineering, Industrial Engineering, VLSI Design, Structural & Construction Engineering, Thermal Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, etc. The mode of study for all these courses is full-time. The totals seat intake for these specialisations is 494.

A two-year MTech programme is available at NIT Jalandhar. There are 16 specialisations available for this programme. There are two options for students to be admitted to the M.Tech programme at NIT Jalandhar. They either need to qualify for GATE and appear for CCMT Counselling. Another option is to get admission through the Self-Sponsored category via only a GATE score.

Additionally, non-GATE-qualified candidates can also be admitted by taking the entrance test held by the particular departments at NIT Jalandhar. Students must meet the minimal requirements for eligibility and pass the applicable admission exam with a passing score. To meet the minimum eligibility criteria, the candidate must be a graduate with a minimum 60% aggregate or 6.5 CGPA with BE/B.Tech subject from a recognised university. As per the official sources, NIT Jalandhar MTech fee ranges between INR 1.4 lakh - INR 2.3 lakh. This fee contains the tuition fees for both the years of the course, including hostel fees and security deposit. 

The total tuition fee for a two-year MTech is INR 1.4 Lacs (except for M.Tech AI). The tuition fee for M.Tech in Artificial Intelligence (AI) course is INR 2.72 lakh. This given fee is for regular M.Tech candidates. For the candidates belonging to a self-sponsored category, the tuition fee is INR 2.2 lakh, while the SC/ST category candidates are exempted from tuition fee payment. It must be noted that the given fee is as per unofficial sources and hence may vary.
