NID 2026 Question Paper
Candidates who wish to secure good marks in NID Entrance Exam must practice NID PYQs, sample papers, mock tests, etc. NID Entrance Exam 2026 was conducted on December 21, 2025 in one shift. The difficulty level of the exam was high. Questions were difficult and most of students found the paper hard and lengthy. NID DAT 2026 Exam was held in pen-and-paper mode. The question paper included textual and visual questions. The paper was of 3 hours and was of 100 marks.
NID 2026 Question paper had questions on topics like Scene creation, Product Design: Redesign a product, Everyday objects: Complete the object, Sequential Drawings, storytelling, Perspective drawing, and process drawing.

NID DAT Prelims exam will be conducted offline and will be of 3 hours duration.
- Test will be conducted in the English language and include a maximum of 26 questions.
- Question paper will include both subjective and objective-type questions.
- Paper will be for 100 marks.
- Candidates who qualify in DAT Prelims have to next appear in DAT Mains.
The Studio Test for the M.Des programme will be conducted in offline mode at various NID campuses - NID Bangalore, NID Gandhinagar and NID Ahmedabad. The Studio Test will be conducted programme-wise and the schedule will be released soon.
The details of the campus allotted to the candidate will be mentioned on the NID DAT Mains 2027 admit card.
There is no negative marking in NID DAT exam. The candidate is recommended to go through the detailed exam pattern to get insights into the question paper structure, including types of questions asked, sections, etc.

NID Entrance Exam 2026 Exam Analysis and Students' Reaction
Exam analysis and student reactions for NID DAT 2026 Prelims B.Des and M.Des are given below.
Student 1- There were no aptitude questions. GAT section was not present at all.
- Question 1 - Make a 3-story scene.
- Question 2 - A spec was given; make three conventional uses of it.
- Question 3 - A bottle was given. Draw it when it three different situations: When kept in hospital near bedside; When it is in a restaurant, When it is to be used in a get-together in your house.
Student 2 - There were 6 drawing questions. Candidates had to draw 14 drawings altogether in 3 hours.
Students 3 - More focus was on drawing, sketching and writing part.
- Question 4 - Solar panel was given. Make three Instagram posts for this. Give a title, content and draw.
- Question 5 - With the help of a hand given. Interpret and draw: rope, plant, hammer with hand.
- Question 6 - There is a bus, and students are inside. Draw how you will protect yourself on the bus when the brakes are applied.
