IIT Madras offers a BTech-MTech (Dual Degree) programme in full-time mode. The programme is being provided for a duration of five years, comprising 10 semesters. Like the BTech programme, IIT Madras admission 2022 to BTech-MTech (Dual Degree) programme is also based on JEE Advanced score, followed by JoSAA Counselling. Given below is the IIT Chennai BTech-MTech (Dual-Degree) minimum eligibility criteria for admission to this programme:
Eligibility: Passed Class 12 from a recognised board with a minimum of 60% aggregate (55% for SC/ ST/ PwD candidates).

After JEE session 2 is completed, only those candidates who are aiming for IITs need to start preparing for JEE Advanced after clearing JEE Main. Those who are above the 98th percentile should start preparing for JEE Advanced as soon as possible. Those below this, between the 95th and 98th percentile, should focus on attempting more mock tests and previous year question papers so that they have a better chance of clearing JEE Advanced
To get in IIT Madras, students have to meet the cutoff. The closing rank usually goes to 150 - 200 for top BTech branches. BTech CSE is the most competitive BTech specialisation. The closing rank for lower branches is around 7433. IIT Madras cutoff 2026 will be out soon for BTech.
For admission to IIT Madras, candidates must pass Class 12 and graduation before applying for the course. As per the minimum eligibility requirements for the course, candidates need a BE/BTech/BArch degree or a master's in Science/Arts with a minimum of 60% aggregate (55% for SC/ST/PwD). Qualifications from exams by recognised professional societies are also accepted. Further, candidates will be selected based on a valid GATE score.
Apart from this, candidates who graduated from IITs with BTech degree and having CGPA of 8.0 (on a scale of 10) and above are eligible to apply for direct admission without GATE score. In addition, it is also crucial that the applicant hold the relevant documents as a proof of eligibility that has to be submitted at the time of registration and documents verification after gettting admission.
To be eligible for JEE Advanced 2025, candidates must be:
- Among the top 2,50,000 successful candidates (including all categories) in B.E./B.Tech. paper of JEE (Main) 2025.
- Born on or after October 1, 2000. Five years age relaxation is given to SC, ST, and PwD candidates, i.e. these candidates should have been born on or after October 1, 1995.
- A candidate can attempt JEE (Advanced) maximum of three times in two consecutive years.
- A candidate should have appeared for the Class XII (or equivalent) examination for the first time in either 2023, 2024 or 2025 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.
- A candidate should NOT have been admitted to an IIT irrespective of whether or not the candidate continued in the programme or accepted an IIT seat by reporting “online” / at a “reporting centre” in the past.

Indian Institute of Technology Madras admits students on the basis of JEE Advanced scores. Only those candidates who secure JEE Main 2022 rank among the top 2.5 lakh candidates are eligible to fill the JEE Advanced application form. The application process is online and the form is available only on the official website. Candidates seeking admission to this course need to follow the steps given below to fill out the JEE Advanced application form.
Step 1: Register through the official website by providing their JEE Main 2022 roll number, password, and security pin.

Based on the information provided, you are eligible to appear for JEE Advanced 2025 as you have passed Class 12 in 2024. According to the eligibility criteria, candidates who passed Class 12 in 2024 or 2025 are eligible for JEE Advanced 2025. No—if you scored 44 when the cutoff is 45 in JEE Main, you would not qualify for JEE Advanced. Without qualifying JEE Advanced, admission to Indian Institute of Technology Madras is not possible, since IITs admit students only through that route.
