IIT Madras invites applications for tech fest Shaastra

Candidates may register at tif.shaastra.org before November 30. The mentorship, webinars and workshops will be held in December and the final pitching event will be from January 5 to 8, 2023.

TIF, a platform for budding entrepreneurs 

TIF was launched in 2018 and offers a platform for budding entrepreneurs to develop tech-based projects and prototypes into minimum viable products. The prototypes could be from any field such as robotics, healthcare, biotechnology, agriculture and Internet of Things. 

Participants must submit online detailed description of the product with pictures, its utility and application. Shortlisted participants will proceed to the next round. The teams will receive professional assistance and participate in guidance and mentorship sessions with industry experts. 

They will get to interact with venture capitalists, angel investors and experts. There will be workshops on product design and business management. The participants will exhibit their products at the tech fest, the audience for which includes researchers, scientists and professionals.

Q:   How can I get admission in IIT Madras?
A: 

To seek admission to the BTech programme offered at IIT Madras, candidates need to visit the official website of the National Testing Agency (NTA) and fill out the application form in online mode for JEE Main. For other courses such as MSc, MTech, BS-MS (Dual Degree) etc., candidates must visit the official website of the respective national-level entrance exam conducting bodies and fill out the application form in online mode. IIT Madras admission to most of the courses is entrance-based. 

Q:   What is the last date for IIT Madras registration?
A: 

IIT Madras admissions 2024 for popular courses such as BTech, M.Tech and MBA are done through JEE Main, GATE and CAT exam, respectively. Their registraion dates can be checked on their respective conducting bodies. Furhter, registrations are open for BSc (Data Science) programme for the May Session. Students can apply for the same by May 26, 2024. However, IIT Madras has also announced the dates for JEE Advanced 2024. The JEE Advanced registration process will be conducted till Apr 30.

Q:   Can I get direct admission to IIT Madras MA course?
A: 

No, IIT Madras does not have the provision of direct admission. The institute admits students based on valid HSEE entrance exam scores. 

Q:   How can I join IIT Madras for MSc?
A: 

For IIT Madras MSc admission, candidates need to apply online via IIT JAM. After successful registration, candidates are then required to appear for the entrance exam. Selected candidates are then called for the counselling round as a final selection round. IIT JAM registration window for 2026 is now closed.

hi,

No—if you scored 44 when the cutoff is 45 in JEE Main, you would not qualify for JEE Advanced. Without qualifying JEE Advanced, admission to Indian Institute of Technology Madras is not possible, since IITs admit students only through that route.

For National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli, the minimum JEE Main percentile usually depends on branch and category. For General category students, top branches like CSE often require around 99+ percentile, while lower-demand branches may close near 97–98 percentile.
