Mystory@Dharmesh Gupta: Things I love about my college - IIT Jodhpur
We all know how to get admission in IITs. One year coaching at Kota helped me to crack it and secure a rank of 4100 in JEE Advanced. I had a keen interest to work in electrical area. So I filled my choices during counselling according it. I knew that with this rank it was not possible to get admissions into the older IITs, so I filled the form for the newer ones too. I got IIT Jodhpur in first round which remained unchanged in further rounds.
The first 5 to 6 days are about orientation where you are prepared to adapt the environment. Introduction of clubs and societies happen during this time along with some informal activities. Then the pressure kicks in . Classes begin from 8 (in some IIT from 9) till 4 or 5 in the evening. Professors are all same – boring; but if you are determined they would prove the best for you.
The best thing about IITs are the extracurricular activities like Gymkhana and Annual Cult and Tech Fest. They provide better ways of personality development . All festivals are celebrated with grace. The technical society gives you the opportunity to learn practical things.
At IITs, you get a lot of time to spend with friends. You can spend the remaining time watching movies and pursuing technical hobbies. You study only for 4 to 5 days before the exam.
Its same for me. By the way, good luck to all the new aspirants. Hope to see you with us.
About the Author:
I am Dharmesh Gupta, a second year electrical engineering student at IIT Jodhpur. My hobbies change with time. When I was not in IIT, I liked playing cricket, reading novels, watching IPL(Indian Premier League) and MARVEL movies. But, all these changed with time. Some of them exist now as well but most of them have converted into technical hobbies like learn MATLAB and ROS.
