The Training and Placement Cell of my college always works with the motto of " One Student One Job". They have divided the companies into three categories: Dream, Super Dream and Cloud 9 based on CTC they are offering and one student can avail only one job offer in a category.

There were very strict placement eligibility criteria in my college which were all set by the Training and Placement Cell of the college.

Training and Placement Cell-

The Training and Placement Cell of the National Institute of Technology, Silchar is a well-structured cell. A Training & Placement Officer and a Faculty Advisor are appointed by the college authority to look after all the activities of the cell. Training and Placement Coordinators are also appointed by a set procedure to look after all the placement activities.

Placement Eligibility Criteria in my College:

There are different Placement Eligibility Criteria for various courses in my college.

For example; the course duration for Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech)  Degree is 4 years while the course duration for a Masters of Business Administration ( MBA ) degree is just 2 years.

The Placement Eligibility for the aforementioned courses is quite different and the main reason behind this is the companies that visit the college campus to hire students in the campus placements have different expectations and for different job profile roles.

Marks:

Marks are the main placement eligibility criteria for the students in my college. Only those students are allowed to sit for college campus placements who had above 6.00 CPI aggregate marks in all the semesters. This marks criterion used to differ for some companies who want to hire only topper students.

For example; few Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) companies allow only Top 20 or Top 10 students to sit for the campus placements; while for few other companies, students having aggregate marks above 8.00 CPI are allowed to sit for campus placements.

Attendance:

There are no placement eligibility criteria based on the attendance of the students. But the attendance is indirectly related to the placement criterion. In my college, students having attendance lower than 75 percent are not allowed to sit for final exams of the semester and if he/she has any back papers in the previous semesters, they are not allowed to sit for campus placements.

One Student One Job Motto:

The Training and Placement Cell of my college always works with the motto of " One Student One Job". They have divided the companies into three categories: Dream, Super Dream and Cloud 9 based on CTC they are offering and one student can avail only one job offer in a category.

For example, if a student is placed in Dream Category, then he/she can't sit for the placements in the companies in the same category.

The way Training and Placement Cell of my College Functions always helps to improve the overall placement percentage.

Yes, entrance tests are mandatory for admission in NIT Silchar courses. National Institute of Technology admissions are entrance-based. The scores of entrance (CAT/ MAT/ CMAT/ GATE/ IIT JAM/ JEE Mains) are considered for final seat allotment in preferred courses.
