What is CCMT Counselling?
Counselling: 02 Jul ' 26 - 06 Jul ' 26
CCMT is an online counselling portal where institutes, such as NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs participate to offer admission to MTech and other higher studies programmes. Through CCMT, GATE-qualified candidates are offered admission to MTech, MArch and MPlan course programmes. The counselling is done based on GATE scores, which is valid for three years. Overall, students are offered seats based on their performance. CCMT counselling process is done in 5 regular with two special rounds, and a national spot counselling round.
Participating institutes: NITs, IIEST Shibpur, IIITs, etc. Last year, NIT Warangal conducted the CCMT counselling.
The stages of counselling include-
- Online registration and payment of registration fee
- Choice filling and locking of choices
- Three rounds of counselling: seat allotment, depositing seat acceptance fee, submitting willingness, uploading documents, online document verification
- Payment of partial admission fee
- Physical reporting.

Centralised Counseling for MTech/MArch/MPlan/MDes (CCMT 2025) is a common platform for candidates to apply for MTech/MArch/MPlan programmes in all National Institute of Technologies (NITs), IIEST Shibpur, eight IIITs, University of Hyderabad and many more colleges. The counselling is conducted online every year.

The seat allotment in CCMT is a process where students can check what college or cutoff they have received. CCMT 2026 round 3 seat allotment result is now available. CCMT 2026 Seat Allocation: Tie-Breaking Criteria
Candidates who have been allotted seats had to report to the college. Qualified candidates were based on CCMT cutoff scores. The following factors are considered during the selection process -
- First preference was given to GATE 2025 qualified applicants, then 2026 students.
- If the qualification is of the same year, then preference is given to the candidate who has scored higher marks out of 100.
- If two candidates have scored the same marks out of 100, and the year of passing is same, then preference is given based on All India Rank (AIR).
- If the marks out of 100, year of passing and AIR is same, then preference is given based on date of birth. Candidate older in age is given preference.
- In case, the date of birth is same, then rank is decided based on random number generation.
Lastly, the CCMT seat allotment is done based on merit list and seat availability along with choices filled by applicants.

Candidates need to meet minimum qualifying mark to participate in GATE 2026 CCMT counselling. The CGPA is different for each category. For General/EWS and OBC-NCL category, the required CGPA is 6.5 on a 10-point scale, which is 60%. On the other hand, for SC/ST and PwD, required CGPA is 6.0 on a 10-point scale, which is 55%.
No. Candidate can apply online only for CCMT. The candiadtes must visit the official website to apply for the counselling during the dates specified. GATE 2026 CCMT Counselling Process
CCMT Portal has been launched. CCMT counselling process consists of following five stages. Check stages of counselling process below-
- First, candidates have to register providing their GATE score and other details
- Then perform choice filling and locking based on their preferences
For more details, students can refer to the top branches GATE cutoff trends to analyse and prepare for counselling. In addition, the conducting institute have released seat matrix along with GATE paper and institute mapping.
Based on their submitted choices and GATE cut off scores, candidates will be offered seats for admission. Applicants can download GATE seat allotment letter using their credentials. A seat acceptance fee of INR 30000 must be submitted to confirm admission. After that, candidates must upload required documents on CCMT portal. Three options will be available-
- Floating: if they wish to be considered for all of their higher preferred choices in the next round
- Sliding: if they wish to be considered in the next round for their higher preferred choices only within the Institute allotted to them
- Freezing: if they are satisfied with the currently allotted seat and not interested in their higher preferred choices in the subsequent round

Online document verification
Document verification is done by the verifying officer of the respective allotted institute online only. Candidates have to physically report to allotted institute
Online admission at allotted institute
After successful online document verification by the finally allotted institute, the candidates will have to pay the balance admission fee to the respective institute online.

CCMT merit list is prepared based on GATE scores. If there are two same scores, then the authorities use the following criteria to resolve tie-criteria.
- First preference is given based on All India Rank with respective to paper.
- Candidates with low GATE scores will be given second preference.
- In case, two applicants have same mark or AIR, the date of birth is considered. Candidates who are older will be given preference.
- If a candidate has same Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering score, AIR/total -appeared, and date of birth, then rank is determined based on random number generation. Candidates with lower number will be given priority.

CCMT 2026: Key Features
- Only institutes participating in CCMT counselling will work as Reporting Centres (RC).
- Candidates have to report to the institute in person to confirm their seats and pay the fee.
- For all fresh National Spot Round (NSR), registered candidates must visit any RC for document verification to ensure their candidature under this provision.
Candidates seeking admission to the CCMT participating institutes will be allocated seats based on their choices for college and course and their GATE rank. GATE exam dates have been announced and have started. The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) was conducted on February 7, 8, 14, and 15.
For admission/financial assistance for the MTech & MSc courses offered at various government-funded institutes in the country. Candidates who qualify for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering and are willing to seek admission to the NITs and CFTIs can participate in CCMT counselling for the seat allotment process. Candidates must know that CCMT counselling is done only.

CCMT Eligibility 2026
To be eligible for CCMT, aspirants need to meet the eligibility criteria mentioned below:
- Aspirants must have a valid GATE score. For CCMT 2026 counselling, valid GATE 2026/2025/2024 is acceptable.
- They should have secured a minimum of 6.5 CGPA (on a 10-point scale) or 60% for OC/OB, whereas 6.0 CGPA (on a 10-point scale) or 55% in the case of SC/ST/PwD candidates. A recognized University/Institute should award the above-mentioned CGPA/Percentage.
- Final year students need to submit the proof of passing within the due date.
- For every programme, eligibility is defined based on certain combinations of degree disciplines and GATE paper
- In case, the result of the qualifying degree is awaited, provisional admission is permitted to a candidate subject to meeting above minimum qualifying degree requirements within the due date. A certificate from the head of the current institute to that effect should be submitted at the RC during document verification.
- Special eligibility criteria are applicable for certain programmes in a few participating Institutes. Eligibility against these special requirements shall not be checked during the registration process but will be verified during physical reporting at the RC.
- The candidates who possess certification from any of the professional societies (IE, ICE, IETE, AeSI, IIChemE, IIM, IIE) are also eligible to participate in the CCMT counselling process.
