JoSAA 2024 Registration Closed: The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) announced the dates for the JoSAA 2024 registration process. The JoSAA 2024 registration process started on June 10, 2024. The authority also released the JoSAA 2024 seat matrix and list of participating institutes. Candidate registration and choice filling for academic programs under JoSAA 2024 concluded on June 18, 2024. The JoSAA 2024 counselling schedule is available on the official website and here as well. This year, the authorities are conducting JoSAA 2024 seat allocation process in five rounds. Only the candidates who qualify for JEE Main 2024 and JEE Advanced 2024 will be eligible for JoSAA counselling registration. The candidates can fill in their course choices and institute online on the official website of JoSAA at josaa.nic.in. Upon completion of JoSAA 2024 registration, candidates need to complete the choice-filling process by entering their preferences for institutes and engineering streams. Q:   Do I need to register for JoSAA 2024 counselling?

A:

Candidates who qualify for JEE Main or JEE Advanced are typically required to register for JoSAA counselling to participate in the seat allocation process. Candidates are required to register on the JoSAA website and fill in their preferred choices of institutes and courses. The registration process allows the authorities to understand the candidates' preferences and conduct the seat allocation process accordingly. Q:   Is JoSAA counselling free? If not, how much does a candidate have to pay for it?

The filling-in of choices on the online portal is free of cost. The candidate must pay the seat acceptance fee before continuing with the JoSAA process till the end to avail the seat in an IIT or NIT. The documents uploaded by the candidate will not be verified unless the candidate pays the seat acceptance fee. General/Open category candidates are required to pay a fee of INR 35,000, whereas SC, Gen-PwD, ST, OBC-NCL-PwD, ST-PwD, and SC-PwD have to pay INR 17,500. The fees will be included in the semester fees once students confirm their admission.

All the candidates who have qualified JEE Main or JEE Advanced can participate in JoSAA counselling and seat allotment process. The eligibility criteria for JEE Main and JEE Advanced exams are set by the National Testing Agency (NTA) and the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), respectively. The only candidates who can register for JoSAA counselling are those who meet the requirements for both JEE Main and JEE Advanced in 2024.   • Step-3: On the new window, candidates will need to enter their JEE Main 2024/JEE Advanced 2024 application number and password and click on the submit button.
  • Step-4: After submitting the details, a new window comprising all the details of the candidate (as entered in JEE Main/JEE Advanced) will be displayed. Candidates must cross-check all the details diligently and then change their passwords.
  • Step-5: During the JoSAA counselling registration 2024, candidates will only be allowed to change their contact details. Candidates must provide the working contact number or email id during the registration. Students must also verify all the details again and then click on the "Submit" button.
  • Step-6: Candidates will be able to check the available choices of engineering streams and institutions (as per their rank) only after registration. As per the availability, aspirants must choose the academic programmes in order of their preferences.
  • Step-7: Candidates must not forget to lock their choices after filling them online. This is an important step in the process of the JoSAA 2024 seat allotment process. If a candidate fails to do so, the system will automatically save the choices selected earlier and the preferences will be displayed like that only.

JoSAA 2024 registrations: Key points to remember

There are a few things that can be edited at the time of JoSAA Registration and there are some details that cannot be edited. Check the information given below for the same:

Q:   Can we change the preferences for round 2 in JoSAA 2024 counselling after the result of round 1?

A:

In JoSAA counseling, it is typically possible to modify the preference order of your choice fill-up and remove certain choices after the results of round 1. However, adding new choices is usually not allowed in the subsequent rounds. This means you have the opportunity to reorganize your existing choices based on your preferences, but you cannot introduce new choices once the initial choice filling period is over.

 

Q:   How to apply for JoSAA counselling?

A:

Visit the official JoSAA site josaa.nic.in. Look for the link for JoSAA counselling. Fill up the fields with the required details. Complete the choice filling. JoSAA counselling will be conducted in 5 rounds through online mode. JoSAA 2024 Eligibility Criteria

To appear in the seat allocation rounds, candidates need to fulfil the given criteria:

  • All the candidates who qualify for JEE Main 2024 will be allowed to appear for the seat allocation round
  • All the candidates who qualify for JEE Advanced 2024 will also be eligible to appear for JoSAA 2024 counselling.
  • The candidates must secure 75% in Class 12 or must be in the top 20 percentile. For SC, ST, and PwD candidates, the qualifying percentage is 65%. (For admission into IITs).

Q:   Is it necessary to have 75% in class 12th for JEE Mains?

A:

No, it is not mandatory to have 75% in class 12th for JEE Mains. As per the official brochure released by the NTA there is no minimum percentage required for appearing in the JEE Main. 

 

Q:   Is a domicile Certificate required for admission to NITs?

A:
For joining IIT/NIT/IIIT through JEE, candidates are not required to provide a domicile Certificate. It is only NIT where admission is offered against the Home State quota and it is not determined on the basis of the state to which you belong but on the basis of the state in which you appear for your 12th board exam. The domicile Certificate is not required during JoSAA counseling. The candidates are given admission based on their JEE score.
 

Q:   How many rounds are there in JoSAA Counselling?

A:

This year, there will be five rounds of JoSAA 2024 counselling. The admission process for admissions in 23 IITs, 31 NITs, IIEST Shibpur, 26 IIITs and 40 Other-Government Funded Technical Institutes (Other-GFTIs) will be done by JoSAA in five rounds. In these rounds, candidates are allotted seats based on their JEE Main or JEE Advanced rank and preferences filled by them during registration. Candidates who are allotted seats have to either accept or float the seat.

 

Q:   Can I apply for JEE Main 2024 if I have less than 75% marks in class 12?

A:

Candidates can apply for JEE Mains 2024 irrespective of their class 12 marks. It is to be understood that 75% marks is NOT mandatory to appear in JEE Main. As per the official brochure released by the NTA there is no minimum percentage required for appearing in the JEE Main. The requirement of 75 percent marks need not be associated with JEE Main. It is to be understood that 75 percent marks is required for admission to institutes which include NITs, IIITs, GFTIs and IITs. There are many institutes which offer admission on 60% and even less along with JEE Main. Candidates must clearly understand that the requirement of 75 percent marks in class 12 is only for taking admission in the institutes.

 

JoSAA 2024 Choice Filling: Key instructions to follow

Candidates are required to follow the below instructions while entering their choices for the JoSAA 2024 seat allocation:

  • Students must fill all the choices in the decreasing order of their preferences
  • Candidates must select the academic programmes carefully
  • Candidates will be given a 10-day window to fill in their online choices
  • Candidates should not wait for the last date to fill their choices. It must be done as soon as possible.
  • The candidates will not be allowed to lock or change their choice after the deadline

Q:   What will happen if I do not lock my choices during JoSAA registration?

A:

Once the specified end time for choice filling is reached, JoSAA automatically locks the choices. Prior to locking, you have the flexibility to edit, add, delete, and update your choices. However, after locking, you can only modify the preference order, but this option is typically available only after the first round of seat allocation.

 

Q:   How can I check JoSAA 2024 seat allocation results?

A:

The JoSAA seat allocation results will be checked by the candidates on the official JoSAA website. Candidates will have to log in to their JoSAA account using their registration details and can view their seat allocation status, institute, and branch allotted to them. The official website also provides information on how to proceed after the seat allocation, including reporting to the allotted institute within the specified timeframe.

 

Q:   Will I be allowed to reshuffle the choices at any stage of seat allotment during JoSAA Counselling?

A:

The reshuffling of choices will only be allowed during the choice filling period before these choices are locked. The candidates can register and fill their choices. The JoSAA 2024 registration will start on June 10, 2024. No candidate will be allowed to reorder the choices selected after the specified time period. The candidates must carefully fill their choices and lock them.

Candidates have to provide Provisional seat allotment letter, Original JEE Main 2024 admit card, one passport size photograph same as the one uploaded during the application form filling up, JEE Main 2024 scorecard issued by NTA Proof of Photo ID by government, Class XII board mark sheet and Category and Medical Certificate (if any). All the documents listed should be taken for verification during the counselling process.

 

Q:   Do I need to apply for the 2nd round of counselling if I don't get a seat in the 1st round of JoSAA counselling?

A:

If you are not allotted a seat in the first round of JoSAA you do not need to reapply or submit a separate application form for the second round of counselling. Once you have registered for JoSAA your application remains valid for all subsequent rounds of counselling. You will automatically be considered for seat allocation in the following rounds, including the second round. It's important to keep track of the seat allocation results and participate actively in subsequent rounds to maximize your chances of securing a seat in your desired institute and course.
