Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) will start the registration for the counselling tentatively in mid-July. The last date for JoSAA registration and fill choices will be in the last week of July 2022. Only the qualified candidates of JEE Main 2022 and JEE Advanced 2022 were eligible for JoSAA counselling registration and fill their choices of course and institute on the official portal i.e.

After getting themselves registered, candidates will be required to fill their online preferences of institutes and engineering streams as per the schedule given below. Candidates should ensure that they fill the choices of engineering streams and colleges according to their preferences as it will be one of the important parameters based on which the rounds of seat allocation will take place. Candidates must also fulfil all the eligibility conditions before registering for JoSAA 2022 counselling. How to register for JoSAA 2022?

All the candidates are required to follow the steps given below to register and fill their choices for JoSAA 2022 counselling:

Step-1: Visit the official website

Step-2: Search for the link named "JoSAA Counselling Registration" and click on it.

Step-3: On the new window, candidates will need to enter their JEE Main 2022/JEE Advanced 2022 application number and password and click on the submit button.

Step-4: After submitting the details, a new window comprising all the details of the candidate (as entered in JEE Main/JEE Advanced) will be displayed. Candidates must cross-check all the details diligently and then change their passwords.

Step-5: During the JoSAA counselling registration 2022, candidates will only be allowed to change their contact details. Candidates must provide the working contact number or email id during the registration. Students must also verify all the details again and then click on the "Submit" button.

Step-6: Students will be able to check the available choices of engineering streams and institutions (as per their rank) only after registration. As per the availability, aspirants must choose the academic programmes in order of their preferences.

Step-7: Candidates must not forget to lock their choices after filling them online. This is an important step in the process of the JoSAA 2022 seat allotment process. If a candidate fails to do so, the system will automatically save the choices selected earlier and the preferences will be displayed like that only.

JoSAA 2022 registrations: Key points to remember

There are a few things that can be edited at the time of JoSAA Registration and there are some details that cannot be edited. Check the information given below for the same:

JoSAA 2022 Eligibility Criteria

To appear in the seat allocation rounds, candidates need to fulfil the given criteria:

  • All the candidates who qualify for JEE Main 2022 will be allowed to appear for the seat allocation round
  • All the candidates who qualify for JEE Advanced 2022 will also be eligible to appear for JoSAA 2022 counselling.
  • The candidates must secure 75% in Class 12 or must be in the top 20 percentile. For SC, ST, and PwD candidates, the qualifying percentage is 65%. (For admission into IITs).

JoSAA 2022 Choice Filling: Key instructions to follow

Candidates are required to follow the below instructions while entering their choices for the JoSAA 2022 seat allocation:

  • Students must fill all the choices in the decreasing order of their preferences
  • Candidates must select the academic programmes carefully
  • Candidates will be given a 10-day window to fill in their online choices
  • Candidates should not wait for the last date to fill their choices. It must be done as soon as possible.
  • The candidates will not be allowed to lock or change their choice after the deadline

Q. How do I register for CSAB 2022?

A. Candidates have to visit the official website and click on the registration link. Using JEE Main 2022 application number and password, the candidates will be able to register for CSAB 2022 special round.

Q. When can I apply for JoSAA Counselling?

A. JoSAA counselling 2022 for admission in IITs, NITs, IIITs and GFTIs is likely to begin in July. Candidates need to register on the official portal of JoSAA to appear in the counselling process.

Q. How can I apply for JoSAA 2022 Counselling?

A. Students have to register themselves online for participating in the JoSAA 2022 counselling. After registration, they have to enter their choices for the institute and engineering branch as per their rank and availability of seats. They have to lock their choices and accordingly, seats will be allotted to them.

Q. Will I be allowed to reshuffle the choices at any stage of seat allotment?

A. The reshuffling of choices will only be during the choice filling period before these choices are locked. No candidate will be allowed to reorder the choices selected after the specified time period.

Q. What will happen if I do not lock my choices?

A. Your last saved choices/preferences will be locked automatically and taken into consideration within the time period specified.

Q. Will I have to pay any fees for registration and filling up choices?

A. No, there will be no fees for registration and filling up of choices.

Q. What are the documents required for NIT Counselling?

A. Candidates have to provide Provisional seat allotment letter, Original JEE Main 2022 admit card, One passport size photograph same as uploaded during the application form fill up, JEE Main 2022 scorecard issued by NTA, Proof of Photo ID by government, Class XII board mark sheet and Category and Medical certificate (if any).

Q. Who is eligible for JoSAA Counselling?

A. All the candidates who have qualified for JEE Main 2022 or JEE Advanced 2022 will be eligible to register and appear for JoSAA 2022 counselling and seat allotment procedure.

Q. I have appeared in JEE Advanced? Where should I put the details?

A. Use the JEE Advanced password to register in such a case so your details are captured. Anyway, the registration form does ask for all such details so you won't miss out.

Q. Is a domicile certificate required for admission to NITs?

A. In joining IIT/NIT/IIIT through JEE, candidates are not required to provide a domicile certificate. It is only NIT where admission is offered against the Home State quota and it is not determined on the basis of the state to which you belong but on the basis of the state in which you appear for your 12th board exam.

No, you can't. You need to appear in JEE the same year in which you want to participate in counseling process. Go through the below link for details


I mistakenly provided state obc ncl Certificate on admit card. Can I provide central obc ncl Certificate during JoSAA counseling?

Yes, as far as I know, you can provide it at the time of counseling. They will verify your Certificate and grant you admission.

No, you can't. You need to appear in JEE the same year in which you want to participate in counseling process.
