What is GITAM GAT?

GITAM Admission Test or GITAM GAT is an entrance test for admission to various UG and PG courses offered by the Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management (GITAM). The test is a common entrance exam for admission to GITAM campuses at Vishakapatnam, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and GIMSR campuses. 

Note that candidates who have scores of JEE Main, TS EAMCET, or AP EAMCET are exempted from GAT. If a candidate hasn't appeared for any of the mentioned exams, they would need to apply and appear for the GITAM Admissions Test (GAT) to qualify for engineering at GITAM.

Q:   What are the scholarship policies offered via GITAM GAT?
A: 

The GITAM GAT scholarship policies are as follows:

  • For the scholarships offered through various National and State Entrance Tests, the students are required to apply for GITAM Admission Test (GAT) and must attend the counseling for admission as per the schedule.
  • If a student is eligible for a scholarship under more than one category through GAT, National, and State Entrance Tests, then he/she will be awarded the highest percent of the scholarship.
  • The scholarship offered through GAT, National and State Entrance Tests is applicable for the First Year only. The same scholarship will be continued in the subsequent years of study subject to scoring a CGPA of 8.0 and above.
  • The children of GITAM employees admitted in full-time programmes are further eligible to avail only 25% of Merit Scholarship through GAT, National and State Entrance Tests.
  • The students admitted through GAT Scholarship Scheme are further eligible for Alumni returning to Higher Education, Alumni Children, Sibling Scholarship, and Retired Employee Children scholarship.

No, all the questions in the GAT question paper will be objective-type questions and will be in MCQ format. Candidates will be given four options for each question. Candidates will have to select the correct option for each question. GAT question paper will consist of 200 Multiple Choice Questions. Each question will be for one mark. There will be a negative marking for any wrong answers. Candidates will have to attempt the 200 questions in 60 minutes. There will be no sectional time limit to attempt the GAT exam sections. GAT 2026 exam will be held multiple times in a year in computer-based mode across 27 cities in India.

Yes, it is mandatory to produce any one of the authorised photo identity cards along with the GITAM GAT admit card to the invigilator for verification. GITAM GAT admit card, aspirants are required to produce an ID card (Passport / Driving License / EC voter ID card / IT PAN card / School or College ID card with photo / Aadhar Card) for personal identification proof for the examination.

Q:   Can I appear for GAT more than once?
A: 

Each student can appear for the GAT exam once for one course in one phase. Authorities does not provide re-appearing students with credentials by considering it an unfair practice of duplicate application. Candidates can apply for courses while filling the single application form. 

Q:   How many campuses does GITAM have and in which cities?
A: 

GITAM has a total of four campuses. The main campus is GIMSR, and the other 3 are located at Vishakhapatnam, Hyderabad and Bengaluru.

Q:   What details are needed to check the GITAM GAT result?
A:

Q:   When will be the GAT exam conducted?
A: 

GAT 2026 exam will be held in multiple sessions. Candidates who will register for the exam will be able to appear for the GAT exam. The examination for GITAM (Deemed to be University) UG and PG admissions will be held in computer based mode. Candidates will have to report to the allotted exam centre. GAT exam is codncuted for a duration of 60 minutes. As per the GAT exam pattern, the question paper consists of 200 multiple-choice questions. Candidates had to choose a correct answer among the four options provided. There will be a negative marking for wrong answers of 1/3 marks. Candidates wothout GAT admit card will not be permitted to enter the GAT exam centre.  

Q:   Can I change the GAT exam centre after submitting the application form?
A: 

No, candidates will not be able to change the GAT exam centre once the application form is submitted. GITAM Deemed to be University does not provide any provision for GAT application form correction window. Candidates filling the application form must carefully enter the details.

Q:   What are the documents required to fill GAT application form?
A: 

Following documents are required for GAT application form:

  • Any valid Government ID proof.    

  • Educational Qualification details.    

  • Scanned clear passport photograph in JPG/JPEG format either in colour or black & white with 80% face (without mask) visible including ears against white background.    

  • Scanned clear signature in JPG/JPEG format.    

  • Scanned class X or equivalent Certificate as a proof of Date of Birth.     

  • Scanned copy of Certificate for Appearing/Result Awaiting Candidates.     

  • Valid e-mail ID and mobile number.  

Q:   GAT scorecard will be issued offline?
A: 

GAT 2026 results will be announced phase wise soon after the exam is conducted. The GAT 2026 scorecard will be available for download on the official website- gat.gitam.edu, for a limited period. Candidates must obtain their GAT mark sheets within the time limit, as admission will be granted to those who will present the mark sheet at the time of Counselling. The GAT 2026 scorecards can be obtained in online mode only.

Q:   Do I have to submit a separate GAT application form, if I wish to apply for more than programme?
A: 

No, candidates will not be required to fill separate GAT application form to apply for different courses. With a single GAT application form candidates can apply for UG or PG courses they wish to apply for. Candidats can apply for Architecture, Engineering, Humanities, Law, Management, Nursing, Paramedical, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy and Sciences courses offered at GITAM Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad and Bengaluru campuses.

At the PG level, the institute offers a two-year M.Tech course. Additionally, GITAM School of Technology Visakhapatnam also offers three-year full-time and four-year part-time Ph.D. courses to the students. B.Tech is offered in 13 specialisations and M.Tech in nine specialisations.
