IBPS RRB Exam Pattern 2025: The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) prescribes IBPS RRB exam pattern for prelims exam, mains exam/single online exam and interview. The exam pattern highlights the overall structure of the exam such as the marking scheme, total marks, overall exam duration, section-wise exam duration, normalisation of marks, etc. 

IBPS RRB Clerk 2025 exam pattern is different from the pattern of PO exam. IBPS RRB 2025 PO exam pattern is divided into prelims exam, mains exam, and interview. The subjects included in IBPS RRB syllabus are the same for PO and Clerk. However, there is a variation in the total marks, number of questions, and difficulty level in both exams. IBPS SO exam pattern is specific to the post. All the questions asked in IBPS RRB exam are objective-type. The question paper is framed in English and Hindi as well as other regional languages. IBPS RRB Exam Pattern Highlights

IBPS RRB exam is conducted to select candidates for the post of Officers Scale 1, 2, 3 and Office Assistant (Multipurpose). The selection process comprises prelims exam, mains exam and interview. Candidates can check below the important highlights of IBPS RRB exam:

IBPS RRB Negative Marking

In IBPS RRB exam, candidates have the option to answer the questions in regional languages besides English or Hindi. There is also provision of negative marking in the exam. For each incorrect answer, 0.25 or 1/4 mark will be deducted as penalty.

IBPS RRB Sectional Timings

There is no time limit in IBPS RRB exam. The prelims exam is held for 45 minutes while the mains exam is held for two hours. Candidates need to manage their time to solve questions in each section.

IBPS RRB Clerk Interview

No, there is no interview in IBPS RRB Clerk. Final selection of candidates are done based on mains exam. The interview is conducted for the post of Officers Scale 1, 2 and 3.

Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) conducts IBPS RRB exam for recruitment to the Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) or Gramin Banks. IBPS organises the RRB CWE Exam every year for the recruitment to the posts of Officers Scale 1, 2, 3 and Office Assistant. The exam is conducted online. The mains exam of IBPS RRB is conducted for the posts of Officers Scale 1 and Office Assistant (Multipurpose) and carries 200 marks. The single online exam is conducted for the posts of Officers Scale 2 & 3 . The Interview carries 100 marks and is conducted for the posts of Officers Scale 1, Officers Scale 2 & 3. There is no  interview for the post of Office Assistant (Multipurpose).

IBPS RRB exam pattern is different for different posts. The exam pattern for IBPS RRB PO comprises prelims exam, mains exam and interview. IBPS RRB Clerk comprises prelims and mains exams. The interview carries 100 marks.

The marking scheme of IBPS RRB prescribed by the examination authority is given below:

  • For the wrong answer, 1/4 of the marks assigned to that question are deducted as penalty
  • If a question is left blank, there is no penalty for that question

Normalisation of Marks

Normalisation of marks are done to adjust the difficulty level of the question paper spread across various sessions. The corrected scores obtained by each candidate in different sessions (if held) are normalised using the equi-percentile method. Scores up to two decimal points are taken for the purpose of calculation.

Yes, separate IBPS RRB admit cards are issued for prelims and Mains exams. The prelims admit card is released for all the registered candidates. The Mains admit card is released for candidates who qualifies the prelims exam.
