How the Scores of NDA Calculated?
UPSC follows the marking scheme while calculating the scores of candidates. NDA marking scheme is given below:
- In General Ability Test (GAT), candidates get four marks for correct answers
- In the Mathematics section, for correct answers candidates score 2.5 marks
- For wrong answers, 0.33 marks are deducted

Besides the subject-wise cut off marks, the examination authority also decides overall cut off marks for different defence services. To be in the final merit list, candidates are required to secure separate qualifying marks in the written exam and SSB interview.

Stages of NDA Result

When two or more candidates secure equal aggregate marks in NDA exam, the ties are resolved as per age. This means candidates older in age are given preference.

- The final allocation/selection for admission to the Army, Navy, Air Force of the National Defence Academy and 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme of Indian Naval Academy is done as per the number of vacancies subjected to candidates' eligibility, medical fitness and merit-cum-preference
- While allocation/selection to one service/course, they will not be considered for admission to other remaining services/courses
The sectional cut off in NDA exam is 25 per cent. Candidates are required to secure both the qualifying marks and cut off marks in NDA exam. The cut off marks are calculated based on the several factors.
NDA result is announced separately for written exam and SSB interview. After the result for the written exam is announced, candidates are called for SSB Interview. The medicals after NDA SSB are called SMB (Special medical Board). This done at the Military Hospitals. Each recommended candidate are required to go through it. The TR/PR candidates get another chance to prove themselves medically fit within 42 days from the medical conference, this is called AMB (Appeal medical Board). This takes place at Command Hospitals. The candidates who are rejected from AMB may or may not get the chance for Review Medical Board (RMB). RMB is not the right of the candidate but is given by reviewing your ailment by senior doctors of Army at the office of DGMS behind North Block, near Rashtrapati Bhavan. It usually takes about a month.
