NDA Exam Day Guidelines 2026

NDA Exam Day Guidelines 2026: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will conduct the NDA 1 exam on April 12 at various centres across the country. The NDA 1 exam 2026 will be conducted in two shifts on April 12. The first shift will start at 10 am and will conclude at 12:30 pm. The second shift is from 2 pm to 4:30 pm. Subject that will be held in the first shift is Mathematics and in the second shift is General Ability Test (GAT). The guidelines for the exam day was released along with the NDA admit card. It is important for the candidates to follow the guidelines who appear in the exam. The NDA 1 exam day guidelines consists of rules and regulations related to the required documents and stationary to the dress code. 

It also consists of what to carry at the examination centre and what not to carry. Also, documents that to be brought on the NDA exam day and general tips for the exam. In this article, we have provided NDA exam day guidelines that candidates need to keep in mind while appearing for the exam.

NDA Exam Timing 2026

Before we proceed to the exam day guidelines, it is important to go through NDA exam timing to understand the exam duration, reporting time, etc. Check below NDA exam timing.

Forenoon shift

10.00 am to 12:30 pm

9.50 am

Afternoon shift

2.00 pm to 4:30 pm

NDA 2026 Exam Day Guidelines

Candidates can check below the exam day guidelines for NDA exam.

NDA Exam Day Guidelines for Admit Card

  • Candidates are advised to download their NDA admit cards and take a printout of the same. Candidates will have to show the printout of their admit cards at the allotted NDA exam centre along with the photo identity card
  • In case the photograph is not visible or not available on the admit card, candidates are advised to carry two identical photographs
  • No hard copy of the admit card has been issued by the examination authority. In case of any discrepancy, candidates should immediately email the examination authority 

UPSC NDA Exam Day Guidelines for Reporting Time

  • As mentioned earlier, NDA exam will be conducted in two shifts. It may be noted that entry into the exam hall will be closed 10 minutes before the scheduled commencement of the exam, i.e 9.50 am for the forenoon session and 1.50 pm for the afternoon session
  • No candidate will be allowed to enter the examination venue after the gate closes

NDA Exam Day Guidelines for Exam Centre

  • The details regarding NDA exam centres are mentioned on the admit card. Candidates are required for the exam at the centre allotted to them
  • Candidates are advised to visit their exam centres at least one day in advance to avoid the last-minute hassle
  • Candidates should reach the exam centre well in advance for verification of admit card, frisking, etc
  • Candidates should note that they will not be allowed to appear at any other exam centre except the one mentioned on the admit card. If candidates appear at any other venue due to any reason, their candidature will be cancelled

UPSC NDA 1 Exam Day Guidelines 2026: Things Not Allowed

  • Candidates are not allowed to use mobile phones, pagers or any other electronic equipment or programmable devices or storage media such as pen drives, smartwatches, camera, bluetooth devices. Candidates found carrying these items will not be allowed to appear in the exam and disciplinary action will be taken against the,m including a ban from future examinations
  • Use of wristwatches is not allowed inside the examination hall

NDA 1 Exam Day Guidelines 2026: Things Allowed Inside the Exam Hall

  • Candidates are advised to bring a black ballpoint pen to fill in the attendance list and OMR sheet
  • Answers other than those marked by a black ballpoint pen will not be evaluated

As the exam date is approaching, candidates, must follow the prescribed NDA & NA (I) exam day guidelines, dress code and instructions to avoid any last minute issues. Candidates should also report the exam centre at least 60 minutes before paper. The entry to the examination hall will be closed 10 minutes before the paper starts. Carry NDA 1 admit card and any photo ID card to the exam centre. Candidates should use only the black point pen to mark the answers on the NDA 1 OMR sheet and filling attendance records. As there will be no facility for safekeeping, so candidates should not bring restricted items to the examination centre

Yes, you can give the NDA exam as you have qualified the Class 12 exam. As per the age requirement candidates age should lie between 16.5 to 19.5 years to apply for the NDA exam. However, go through the eligibility criteria properly once before applying for the exam.

The NDA 2 2026 notification was released by the UPSC on May 20 at upsc.gov.in. Along with the notification, the application process started. The last date to apply was June 11, 2026.

The UPSC will conduct the NDA 2 exam on September 13, 2026. The official provisional answer key will be released on the official portal at upsc.gov.in. Candidates will be able to download the answer key PDF for all sets from this page as well.
