The UP Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) conducts the Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET) to determine the eligibility of candidates as Classes 1 to 8 teachers in the state schools. Candidates who pass the exam qualify for the award of the UPTET eligibility certificate.

UPTET Exam Pattern 2025
UPTET Exam Pattern 2025 comprises the structure of Paper 1 and Paper 2. The UPTET Exam Pattern of Papers 1 and 2 is almost the same. Both papers comprise 150 objective-type multiple-choice questions each. Each question carries 1 mark. Candidates are allotted two hours and thirty minutes to attempt each paper. However, the only difference in the exam pattern of Paper 1 and Paper 2 is the number of sections or subjects. The UPTET Paper 1 comprises the following five sections:
- Child Development and Pedagogy
- Language-I (Hindi)
- Language-II (English/ Urdu/ Sanskrit)
- Mathematics
- Environmental Studies
On the other hand, UPTET Paper 2 comprises four sections:
- Child Development and Pedagogy
- Language-I (Hindi)
- Language-II (English/ Urdu/ Sanskrit)
- Mathematics and Science or Social Studies

UPTET Exam Analysis 2019
Soon after the Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET) was over, Shiksha reached out to students to get their feedback on the exam. Here are the highlights of the UPTET 2019 exam analysis by students for Paper 1 and 2:
- UPTET Paper 1 2019 was of moderate to difficult level
- UPTET Paper 2 2019 was moderate to difficult
- The UPTET 2019 exam for both Paper 1 and II was more difficult than Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET)
- It was easier to manage time in the UPTET exam as compared to the CTET exam
- In language sections of UPTET Paper 1, the majority of questions were asked about grammar. Also, there were hardly any questions from Reading Comprehension (RC)
